Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1893: Chapter 1894: Mental Activity

”Don’t be afraid, I’m here with you. Let’s wait and see how the child is doing after the IV drip before we go,” An Ping quickly comforted his younger sister.

”Thank you...”

Just as Tian Ermei finished speaking, An Hui found the infusion hall of the emergency room. Seeing An Ping and his sister talking by the bedside, he walked in.

”An Ping. Has the issue been resolved? Uncle is getting a bit anxious waiting.”

”It’s all sorted now,” An Ping stood up and said, ”But I need to wait here for a while...”

”There’s no need, An Ping, you should go back. I left a note for my sister-in-law, she should come over once she sees it at home,” Tian Ermei stood up and gently told An Ping.

An Hui glanced at Tian Ermei and couldn’t help but feel moved. Her appearance was serene and beautiful, and her voice was soft and pleasant, completely different from the frantic girl he saw earlier.

”But, if something happens, you won’t be able to handle it alone. I... I’ll stay with you for a bit,” An Ping said, still worried.

After all, his sister had expressed her fears of not being able to handle any incidents by herself earlier.

”How about this,” Tian Hui seized the opportunity to say, ”An Ping, you go back with Uncle first, and I’ll stay here with her...”

”No, no, that’s not necessary.” Tian Ermei hurriedly refused when a stranger offered to stay with her, ”I can manage on my own, you all should go.”

”Are you really sure, Ermei?” An Ping asked to confirm once more.

”I’m sure,” Ermei responded confidently.

Still uneasy about leaving such a small child with anyone, An Ping went to find An Hao before leaving.

After explaining Ermei’s situation to An Hao, he left with his father and An Hui.

By midday, An Hao went directly to the cafeteria, got meals for two, and brought them to the infusion area.

From a distance, she saw Ermei sitting by the bed, clutching a handkerchief and quietly wiping her tears.

An Hao felt a pang in her heart and hastened over with the food: ”Ermei, what’s wrong?”

Ermei quickly wiped her tears and stood up when she heard someone calling her: ”Oh, sister-in-law! Why are you here?”

”An Ping told me about your situation. Eat first! I’ll watch the child!” An Hao sat down and handed the lunchbox to Ermei, ”Eat while it’s hot!”

Ermei didn’t refuse, took it and started eating: ”Thank you, sister-in-law. Also, thank An Ping for me...”

”What’s to thank for? No need for thanks between us,” An Hao said while checking the child’s condition, ”It’s much better now, the fever’s starting to go down. That Gu Shuangshuang, really, the child’s fever was so high and she didn’t think to bring him to the hospital.”

”My sister-in-law did take him once before and got fever medicine. We thought he was fine, but then the fever suddenly got so bad again... Don’t blame my sister-in-law, she’s had a hard time these few months too. My brother’s not home, so she’s managing everything inside and out, and my mom’s too old to help much... that’s why I was sent over to look after the child,” Ermei said as she ate, her eyes gradually reddening, ”Sigh, the child’s illness is tough on my sister-in-law. I’ve heard her crying softly at night several times...”

”It’s normal for kids to get sick. Don’t be sad, you’re doing great already,” An Hao gently patted Ermei’s shoulder to comfort her.
