Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1873: Chapter 1873: Not a Shred of Pity

”Commander! There’s a man named An at the door. He says he’s looking for you!”

”Name?”

”An Hui.”

Qin Jian frowned and was about to speak when An Hao stood up and took the phone from his hand: ”Don’t see him.”

She immediately hung up the phone.

”An Hui, remember, he’s the scoundrel who even after you explained, came asking us for money,” An Hao said coldly.

”I remember. But no matter what, he’s still your relative. It’s the New Year, he came over, shouldn’t you at least see what he wants?” Qin Jian asked.

”No.” An Hao was very resolute in her response.

She couldn’t forget the words An Hui said when her father was severely injured and lying in the hospital bed.

They only cared about asking her father for money and never considered his life or death.

Father took on the debt for them, yet they pushed him out to get beaten on their behalf.

An Hao couldn’t forget these things.

He always adhered to one principle: repay a drop of kindness with a fountain.

But to such scoundrels with only blood ties and no familial love, who know only to cause trouble for the family without any sense of responsibility, she wouldn’t spare an ounce of sympathy for them.

She was not a pushover.

After experiencing the hardships of a previous life and the trials of this one, her heart was clearer, and her eyes sharper.

Towards relatives like her second uncle, she could ruthlessly push them away, forcing them to learn self-reliance, self-respect, and self-love.

”I respect your decision.” When it came to his wife’s family affairs, she was the one with the most right to speak.

”Come, let’s eat! Let’s enjoy a lively reunion dinner! Don’t think about what shouldn’t be thought of, don’t care about what shouldn’t be cared for.” Zhang Yun warmly invited everyone.

Just as An Hao and Qin Jian returned to the dinner table, the phone in the living room rang once more.

This time, An Hao got up to take the call voluntarily, it was from the sentinel again.

”Hello, sister-in-law! An Hui says he’s not leaving and will keep waiting at the door to see you. If you don’t come out, he’ll wait in the wind and snow all night.”

”Then let him wait. In the future, any call not from our family won’t be allowed through.”

”Yes!”

Just as the sentinel was about to hang up the phone, An Hui suddenly shouted: ”Sister! Uncle, I know you are all inside having dinner! It’s New Year’s, your family is having a lively reunion, but my parents are still freezing in the snow. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come. Sister, come out and see me! I really have something to tell you!”

An Hao hung up the phone with a snap, ignoring the wailing cries from the other side.

After dinner, the family gathered lively around to watch TV shows.

An Hao noticed her father seemed a bit absent-minded.

”Are you still thinking about An Hui?” An Hao asked.

”No. It’s getting late, I want to go back with An Ping,” An Shuchao said.

”No need. There are guest rooms here. My mother-in-law has already made the beds for you! You have to stay here for the New Year festivities, nowhere else,”

”Yes! In-laws, let’s enjoy a couple of boisterous days! Such opportunities aren’t there every day.” Zhang Yun said as she came out of the kitchen with fruit.

”Us brothers can play some chess. Young people don’t do this nowadays, and having you here makes me happy,” Ning Yibin also tried hard to persuade them to stay.

”Since both uncle and aunt are saying so, Dad, you shouldn’t be stubborn.” An Ping was eager to stay a few more days.
