Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1872: Chapter 1872: Act Normal

”I’m just afraid my sister might get jealous.” An Ping’s words grew more and more mushy.

”Listening to you gives me goosebumps all over the floor.” Qin Jian looked at him with disdain. ”Save those words for your wife. Why are you saying them to me? Are you addressing the wrong person?”

”What’s a wife compared to this? I just like you, brother-in-law! Come on, brother-in-law! Give me a hug and a kiss...” An Ping said as he lunged at Qin Jian.

God knows how thrilled he felt right now, seeing his brother-in-law was like seeing a savior!

”What do you want to do?” Qin Jian couldn’t fend off the sudden enthusiasm from his little brother-in-law and kept backing away.

”Of course, I want to hug you.”

”Act normal, will you! Stand up straight!”

”Hehe, I’m not your soldier!” An Ping said with a cheeky smile, ”Your tricks don’t work on me.”

”If you don’t act normal, I won’t take you along!” Qin Jian said helplessly.

”Looks like I guessed right, my sister really hasn’t forgotten about me.” An Ping said happily.

”Even if your sister forgets me, she won’t forget you, don’t worry.”

”You’re definitely wrong, brother-in-law. Even if my sister forgets everyone in the world, she won’t forget you.”

Qin Jian couldn’t help but smile, his lips curling up: ”Alright, stop chattering. Pack your things and come with me.”

”Alright then!”

Today, they were going to pick up An Shuchao and go to the military compound to celebrate the festival together.

An Shuchao was unwilling to go no matter what.

Over the past few years, he had caused quite a bit of trouble for his daughter.

Also, because of his brother’s enlistment, he made the in-laws restless too, feeling deeply guilty.

”I just won’t go, let An Ping go with you all.”

Without a word, Qin Jian squatted down and lifted An Shuchao onto his back to carry him out: ”Dad, we’re family! Family doesn’t treat each other like outsiders. If you don’t go, An Hao will be heartbroken and sad. I can’t face my parents either.”

An Shuchao’s eyes reddened: ”An Hao chose well, I’ll rest assured about her when I’m gone one day.”

”Dad! Don’t say that!”

Today, they brought both An Shuchao and An Ping to the military compound.

As soon as they entered the army, the rich atmosphere of the festival hit them.

The house was filled with sumptuous dishes, and upon entering, there was a flurry of greetings. Then, An Ping dove straight into the dining table.

He began to devour the food voraciously.

”Eat slower, look at the way you’re eating, you seem like you weren’t fed in your past life.” An Hao, worried about her brother choking, couldn’t help but remind him.

”Sis, you have no idea how miserable we’ve been these past few days.” An Ping said, stuffing his mouth with food, ”Ever since our house was sold, Dad and I have been hiding out here, we had nowhere to go during New Year or festivals...”

Halfway through, he suddenly realized this was a sore point for his father.

Quickly, he obediently shut his mouth.

”What’s in the past is in the past! Let’s just enjoy a lively family reunion with a festive dinner!” Ning Yibin saw An Shuchao’s expression stiffen, and immediately changed the subject to avoid embarrassing the in-laws.

”Dad, no one blames you, so don’t feel burdened. Let’s eat! Nothing is more important than our family!” An Hao placed a chunk of food in An Shuchao’s bowl.

An Shuchao’s nose tingled, he bowed his head and began eating.

For a moment, the atmosphere at the dining table became a bit strange.

Ring ring ring ring!

The phone in the living room rang; Qin Jian got up to answer it. It was a call from the sentry post.
