Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 792: Chapter 792 Moths to the Flame

The note was originally folded, but it unfolded when it fell to the ground.

An Hao had originally not wanted to see the content of the note, but the line written in fountain pen made it difficult for her to ignore: ”Like a moth to the flame, the end is already determined.”

What did this mean?

An Hao quickly thought about the sentence in her head and felt that something was not quite right.

No matter whether or not the note was Cheng Yu’s personal private matter, pondering over the contents of the note here just didn’t seem quite appropriate.

Therefore, An Hao handed the note to Cheng Yu, ”Teacher Cheng, this note fell out of your pocket.”

Cheng Yu turned her head, took the note without looking, and threw it away: ”It’s useless. It’s all just random scribblings.”

”Teacher Cheng’s handwriting is really firm and forceful. It’s surprising that there’s such vigor and bone in Teacher Cheng’s writing.” An Hao said with a smile.

”This is the feeling that someone who has been baptized by war can have,” Cheng Yu mentioned casually.

An Hao nodded thoughtfully.

The wind picked up, and the note fluttered wildly at the roadside before finally coming to a stop.

A pair of black leather shoes stepped on it, and afterward, a hand picked up the note.

The doctor examined Cheng Yu and found her ankle wasn’t seriously injured, just a soft tissue contusion that needed proper rest and care.

Later, Qin Jian and An Hao caught the bus to take her back to school.

As soon as they got off, they ran into Yan Ye who had just arrived from another direction on his bicycle.

”Teacher Yan!” An Hao greeted Yan Ye upon seeing him.

Yan Ye rode his bicycle up to them and stopped, nodded to Qin Jian, and his gaze fell on Cheng Yu’s swollen ankle: ”What happened here?”

”A little accident,” Cheng Yu smiled. ”I’m fine.”

”Be more careful in the future. Try to wear high heels less if you can,” Yan Ye suggested.

”Teacher Yan really knows how to care for people!” An Hao said teasingly. ”Look, Teacher Yan, you have a bicycle, and you live in the same building as Teacher Cheng, and right next door to boot. Why don’t you take Teacher Cheng home?”

Yan Ye agreed readily: ”Sure. Leave it to me.”

”That’s great. Teacher Yan, Teacher Cheng, Qin Jian and I will head off first. He has to return to the military tomorrow, and there’s still a lot to be done tonight,” she said, then turned to Cheng Yu, ”I’ll come to see you after he leaves.”

Cheng Yu smiled and nodded, turning her gaze to Qin Jian, and said softly, ”Goodbye, Qin Jian!”

”Goodbye! Teacher Cheng!”

Qin Jian and An Hao turned and left. An Hao couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

Oh, that’s right, it seemed odd for Teacher Cheng to call him Qin Jian.

Normally, shouldn’t she have called him Staff Officer Qin?

An Hao thought about it again and realized it wasn’t right, either.

Teacher Cheng didn’t even know Qin Jian’s position, did she? If not by his name, what should she have called him?

Mr. An Hao?

An Hao laughed and shook her head, was she being overly sensitive?

............................

Yan Ye parked his bicycle downstairs, ready to help Cheng Yu down, but she had already hopped down on one foot and stood firmly.

”Teacher Cheng, your foot injury makes it inconvenient, do you want me to carry you upstairs?” Yan Ye offered earnestly.

”No need, thank you Teacher Yan. I can go upstairs by myself,” Cheng Yu declined Yan Ye’s offer.
