Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 788: Chapter 788: Recently Down on Luck

The leaders of the Public Security Bureau received a call, and they were taken aback when they heard that it was the Deputy Commander of the military district who personally reported the incident.

After hanging up the phone, they called over the head of the Public Security Team to understand the situation personally.

Then, they ordered him to resolve the matter within twenty-four hours.

They demanded a complete crackdown on the arrogance of the Overlord of South Street, while simultaneously strengthening public security in Nancheng City, to ensure a stable living environment for the residents.

Upon receiving the orders, the police officers swiftly carried out their mission.

In less than half a day’s time, they captured Wang Jiu.

Seeing that it was the head of the Public Security Team, Wang Jiu chuckled and said, ”Captain Wang, how are you? Missing me again, are you?”

Captain Wang jangled the shiny handcuffs in his hand, ”Yes, I’ve been thinking about you, but you’re not so lucky this time. I reckon you’re going to stay a bit longer.”

”Come on, we’ve dealt with each other enough times. Can’t you turn a blind eye just this once?” Wang Jiu chuckled as he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, attempting to hand it to Captain Wang.

”Save that act for someone else. I’m watching you with both eyes wide open, yet you still cause trouble right under my nose,” Captain Wang lifted his chin, signaling his subordinates, ”Cuff him and take him away.”

”Captain Wang, I didn’t do anything serious! I haven’t killed anyone, nor have I started fires. What’s the reason for arresting me this time?” Wang Jiu was full of disbelief, for he had been in and out of prison countless times.

He had been to prison more times than he had been home.

”Extortion! Street fighting! Molesting women!” Captain Wang listed off his offenses in quick succession.

”You’ve got the eyes of an eagle, don’t you?” Wang Jiu was convinced, ”Recently, I’ve just had bad luck wherever I go. I accept my fate!”

”You’ve brought this on yourself!” Captain Wang circled him and said, ”After so many lessons, you still refuse to change. Let me tell you, you can’t always rely on that military authority to bail you out! He’s not omnipotent.”

”Right, right, right! Quick, call my brother-in-law. Have him talk to your leaders.”

Captain Wang chuckled and said, ”These last couple of times, your brother-in-law won’t work.”

”Why not?” Wang Jiu was puzzled.

”Why not?” Captain Wang let out a muffled laugh, ”I’ll tell you, I don’t take orders from anyone, but you I do admire! You really know how to pick them. Do you know who made the call that got you locked up last time?”

Wang Jiu shook his head, bewildered.

”The son of the military district Commander. Do you know who you’ve offended this time?”

”Could it be... she really is the Deputy Commander’s daughter?”

”That’s right!” Captain Wang tapped his forehead twice, ”This time, it was the Deputy Commander himself who reported you! Now tell me... is your brother-in-law as influential as these officials?”

Wang Jiu’s jaw dropped in shock for quite a while!

How lucky that those hoodlums beat him up! Otherwise, he surely would have been dead meat! Next time before he starts trouble, he’ll have to visit the blind fortune teller under Tianqiao.

Cheng Yue left the hospital with five stitches in his arm.

Today he had definitely been careless; otherwise, he would never have allowed that guy to wound him.

He had lost quite a bit of blood; how much meat would he have to eat to make up for it?

”Cheng Yue, just think how heartbroken Sister Cheng Yu would be if she saw your arm. That guy cut you pretty deep,” Zhang Chaoqian said.

”Don’t mention it. You’re not to breathe a word in front of my sister. Her health isn’t good, and she’ll get worried if she finds out,” Cheng Yue said.

”Don’t worry. We won’t mention it. We know what’s what,” Li Zhi said, then glanced up inadvertently, catching sight of Cheng Yu approaching them from not far away.

”Not good, quick, hide!” But Cheng Yue hadn’t realized that Cheng Yu had already spotted him. Just as he was about to greet her, she walked straight past him as if she hadn’t seen him at all.
