Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 754: Chapter 754: Work While Keeping an Eye on You

”I was getting too bored at home, so I just came out for a walk,” Cheng Yu said with a faint smile. ”Turns out, I’ve applied for a job here! I can work while keeping an eye on you!”

”Not you too, sis! I feel a bit constrained with you here,” Cheng Yue said. Although he was happy to see Cheng Yu, he cared more about his freedom.

Cheng Yu’s temper was mild now, but eight or nine years ago, she was a fiery woman.

And she was stubborn as hell!

If you were to say Cheng Yue was the little Overlord of the Nanji Military Region’s compound, who hadn’t he led astray with the likes of Li Zhi and Zhang Chaoqian? What hadn’t they done?

They smashed the Dong Family’s windows, beat up the Xi Family’s kids.

Wandered around the compound in the dead of night like ghosts, scaring the new warriors in the police force.

Every few days, they’d get into a fight with the kids from the political department’s courtyard, wielding bricks in their hands, ready to smash anyone they disliked.

Brawling was just like daily bread to them!

During military training, wearing his dad’s clothes, he’d goof around training the recruits, leaving everyone dazed and confused.

None of the soldiers in the compound dared to mess with him.

The families were wiping tears daily as they complained to Commander Cheng about his ’heinous crimes’, wearing down the front steps of their house by half an inch.

Cheng Nanfang was nearly forty before he had such a beloved son, and every time he heard about these antics, his teeth would itch with anger, sending the boy off to the military every other day.

As the Commander’s wife, Qi Siyuan could only discipline the child and then go apologize to people in person.

With the Commander’s wife showing up at their doorstep, who dared to say a word of refusal? Forgive they must, even if unwilling!

Seeing that scoundrel’s tail cockily pointed skyward, Cheng Yu couldn’t help it anymore! She picked up a big wooden stick and gave him a severe beating!

He was grounded for three days straight, unable to get out of bed!

After that, Cheng Yue honestly calmed down.

He knew Cheng Yu dared to beat him, and beat him hard!

Seeing Cheng Yue’s reluctant face, Cheng Yu shook her head with a smile, ”Still afraid I’ll beat you? I no longer have the strength I used to. Don’t worry, I won’t interfere too much with you!”

Only then did Cheng Yue nod in satisfaction, ”That’s the best. But, I’m puzzled, how could Mom and Dad agree to you coming here? What job did you apply for? A doctor?”

”Wrong! It’s teacher!” She feared she could no longer stand at the operating table as a doctor.

Cheng Yue suddenly had a bad feeling, ”Sis, can you let me know in advance which school you will be teaching at?”

”The only Military Medical University in this city!” Cheng Yu replied with a slight smile.

”Ah!! Come on, couldn’t you pick somewhere else?!”

”Why? This way I’m closest to you, my dear brother!” Cheng Yu said with a smile, then quickened her pace and walked ahead.

”Cheng Yue! I feel like your good days are coming to an end!”

”I have the same feeling! You better quickly forget about An Hao! Otherwise...”

”What are you all gossiping about?” Cheng Yu stopped in her tracks, turned to look at Cheng Yue, and gave him a meaningful warning, ”At school, I’m the teacher, you’re the student! You’re not to utter a word about me without my permission!”

”Here we go again!” Cheng Yue looked skyward, exasperated, ”Sis, why would you want to be a teacher? You might as well work at the Bureau of Secrecy! Your lips are so tight, even a crowbar couldn’t pry them open.”

An Hao thought the graceful woman who helped her retrieve her wallet was just a one-off encounter, but she never expected that they would meet again so soon.
