Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 752: Chapter 752 Catch the Thief

She was tired of the school’s food and wanted to improve her life a bit.

An Hao naturally wouldn’t refuse Gu Shuangshuang’s request and agreed readily.

Qin Jian had classes over the weekend, leaving only An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang. Approaching noon, An Hao, with her wallet in hand, took Shuangshuang out to buy groceries.

There was a big market not far from here that sold vegetables, live poultry, seafood, and fruits, offering a rich variety of goods.

Moreover, the market was bustling with a large number of people, so the goods were circulating quickly, and whatever they bought was quite fresh.

But the place was teeming with people, packed and jostling each other—it was extremely lively.

”An Hao, look, I’ve even lost weight pining for Tian Niu. Can you buy a chicken for me so I can stew it and nourish myself?” Gu Shuangshuang said as her feet stopped moving by the chicken vendor.

Seeing her practically drooling, An Hao couldn’t help but laugh, and poked her on the head, ”If you’re craving it, just say so. No need for such grand excuses, and bringing up Tian Niu, at that.”

”Hahaha! You know me so well!”

An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang stood in front of a stall, and the vendor, seeing potential customers, asked, ”Want to buy a homegrown chicken? For meat or for soup?”

”Both meat and soup,” Shuangshuang said, jumping in first.

”Then go for a young rooster—tender meat and good for soup, but it’s slightly more expensive.”

”No problem, we’ll take one,” An Hao said. ”Could you kindly pluck it for us? I’ll tip you an extra yuan.”

The vendor grabbed a lively rooster from the cage, put it down with a knife, and after scalding, plucked its feathers clean, gutted and handed it over to An Hao.

Just as An Hao was about to take out her money, a man bumped forcefully into her, nearly causing her to stumble. If not for Gu Shuangshuang who quickly grabbed her, she probably would have fallen hard to the ground.

”Are you blind? Didn’t you see people standing right here? In such a rush to get reincarnated, are you?” Shuangshuang shouted angrily at the man’s retreating back.

”Let it go. He’s already left!”

”Are you okay?” Shuangshuang, concerned about the aggressive way the man had bumped into her, worried An Hao might be injured.

”I’m fine, I’m fine,” An Hao said, waving her hand and immediately reaching into her jacket pocket for her wallet. However, she felt nothing, ”Shuangshuang, do you remember if I brought my wallet when we left?”

”Of course, you did! I saw you put it in your pocket with my own eyes...” Before she could finish speaking, both of them suddenly widened their eyes, realizing what had happened.

”Thief!”

”Thief!”

The two of them exclaimed in unison.

”Run after him!” An Hao didn’t bother about buying the chicken anymore and sprinted off, quickly blending into the crowd.

At that moment, she was really grateful for the military-style training at school; she ran like the wind.

She quickly spotted the self-assured thief who had slowed down, thinking he’d gotten away with it.

An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang exchanged a look and both pounced at the man at the same time.

But sensing danger, he looked back and began darting through the crowd again, running anew.

Fearing he would escape, An Hao shouted loudly, ”Thief! He’s a thief! Someone grab him!”

The thief brazenly flashed a knife, yelling while he ran, ”Who the fuck dares to stop me! I’ll take his life!”

Ordinary people see a knife, who would intervene?

Fearing they might accidentally get involved, they not only didn’t dare to block his way, but they also stepped aside to let him pass.

Just as the thief with her wallet was about to escape, suddenly, An Hao saw someone in the crowd stick out a foot and, with a smack, tripped the thief, sending him sprawling on the ground.
