Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 789: Chapter 789: Like a Changed Person

Cheng Yue froze in place, what was this situation?

Li Zhi and Zhang Chaoqian had also seen it and came over to ask Cheng Yue, ”Do you think Cheng Yu saw us at all? Why is she ignoring us?”

”I don’t know!” Cheng Yue was just as confused, ”It seemed like her gaze flickered towards me, right? Why would that happen?”

”How about we just chase after her and ask?”

Li Zhi interrupted Zhang Chaoqian, ”Are you dumb? Cheng Yue didn’t want Cheng Yu to see this mess in the first place. If you start shouting, won’t Cheng Yu find out about Cheng Yue’s injury?”

”Right, right, right! I almost forgot.” Zhang Chaoqian smacked his forehead, ”Look at my pig brain!”

”Alright, let’s go!” Cheng Yue called out to the two of them.

As Li Zhi walked, he kept looking back at Cheng Yu, who was glancing around on the street, seemingly searching for something?

”Cheng Yue, tell me, doesn’t Cheng Yu seem different from before? Why do I always feel like she’s changed?” Li Zhi muttered.

”Having experienced war, lost comrades and friends, and drifted in a foreign land for so many years, having tasted all the loneliness and separation, how could she not have changed?” Cheng Yue said.

”Hmm. You make sense,” Li Zhi didn’t delve deeper into it. Anyway, he just felt that Cheng Yu seemed different from before.

In the afternoon, Qin Jian returned home after the gathering.

An Hao had been at home reviewing her homework. Seeing Qin Jian return, she came over and sniffed his scent, ”Good, you didn’t drink much.”

”Don’t worry. I know my limits! I have to return to the army tomorrow, so how could I afford to get totally drunk today?” Qin Jian raised his hand to caress An Hao’s cheek, filled with reluctance to part.

”I’ll get you some water.” Every time they had to part, An Hao couldn’t bear to look at Qin Jian’s eyes, as they held pain, endurance, and a deep reluctance.

An Hao poured a full jug of water from the thermal flask and said to Qin Jian, ”You’re leaving again for several months. Tell me, is there anything in particular you’d like to eat? I’ll make it for you.”

Qin Jian put the jug down and embraced An Hao, gently resting his chin on the top of her head, ”Stop busying yourself. I just want you to quietly stay with me.”

”Okay,” An Hao agreed.

”Oh, right. I met Yan Huan today, and she said something rather strange to me, telling you not to go places you shouldn’t. Have you been somewhere today?”

”I went to the skating rink today. Came across a few thugs. Nearly got into trouble!” An Hao sighed, ”I have to thank Yan Huan today, if not for her, our trouble would have been much greater. I won’t be going to those kinds of places anymore.”

”That’s nothing,” Qin Jian said with a smile, caressing her hair, ”If you still want to go in the future, wait until I come back and I’ll accompany you. Or else, have the guard Xiaoliu accompany you! Security isn’t too good these days, it’s a bit too chaotic.”

”I know,” An Hao thought and then said, ”I can’t just accept help without giving something in return, right? I should buy something to show my appreciation, shouldn’t I?”

Qin Jian nodded, ”That’s the way it should be! How about this, let’s buy some beef, you make more this time, I’ll take some with me, and you give some to Uncle Yan’s family and our parents.”

”Sounds good. Let’s go now then.” There wasn’t much time left, maybe they could finish early if they hurried.
