Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 765: Chapter 765 Fragments of Memory

”I like your sensitivity! That way you can shift your gaze from your books and focus a bit more on me,” Qin Jian said with a smile.

”Are you criticizing me?” An Hao looked up at him and asked.

”No! I just don’t want you to get too tired, and I’d love to have more time to spend with my little wife,” Qin Jian said.

”I’m not a good wife,” An Hao felt self-reproach, hoping only that she could get through her studies a little faster, even just a bit faster.

After that, she could find more time to spend with Qin Jian.

”Don’t say that. If you’re not a good wife, then I’m not a good husband either! I can’t even be by your side,” Qin Jian said, ”Let’s go! Stop worrying so much, let’s enjoy our date today.”

..................................

After Qin Jian and An Hao had left, Cheng Yu stood in the original spot for a long time.

She watched the direction they disappeared into, her eyes brimming with waves of emotion that quickly settled back into calmness.

In her mind, those faded memories flickered.

Amidst the shrapnel and artillery fire, she carried her medical kit through the battlefield, rushing from one warrior to the next as soon as she had treated each.

She hadn’t slept for a day and a night, her lips chapped and cracking.

Just as she had finished treating all the warriors and sat down to rest against the trench, she suddenly heard someone calling her.

”Quick! Come quickly! The company commander is injured!”

She hurriedly shouldered her medical kit and once again braved the gunfire, rushing towards the man who was still firing upon the enemy from the trenches.

He was bleeding heavily, his entire sleeve soaked through.

”Commander! I’ll help you bandage that,” she said.

After firing the last bullet from his magazine, he quickly tossed the gun aside, ”Erlengzi, load my clip.”

He was sweating profusely from the pain, but his eyes remained resolute, his jawline tensed showing an ironclad will. Seeing her move slowly, he glanced at the wound and told her, ”It doesn’t hurt! Hurry up, don’t waste time.”

”Okay,” she nodded, her hands trembling as she pushed the knife deeper, struggling several times to dislodge the bullet.

Gritting his teeth, he snatched the dagger from her and plunged it deeply into the flesh, forcefully extracting the bullet. In that instant, blood poured from his arm like a fountain.

She quickly took the hemostatic powder from the medical box, sprinkled it over the wound, and swiftly wrapped it with bandages. Just as she was preparing to leave with her medical kit,

She heard a powerful shout from behind her, ”Get down!”

Before she could react, she felt the solid body of a man pounce on her. Then came the roar of an explosion as a shell detonated beside them.

She was unharmed, but he had fallen into a pool of blood.

What followed was a blur in her memory; the person in charge of the medical unit had him carried away on a stretcher.

This was their first and last encounter.

Later, a warrior told her that if it hadn’t been for the commander’s act of diving at her, displacing her from her original spot, that shell would have surely torn her to pieces.

Afterwards, she asked around for his name for a long time until someone told her.

His name was Qin Jian!

”Sis! Sis! What are you doing standing in the cold wind?” Cheng Yue came over to see her, spotting her from downstairs as she stood there lost in thought.

Cheng Yue’s voice pulled her back from her reverie. Cheng Yu moved her numb legs and replied, ”It’s nothing. The sun is nice today; I came down for a walk to enjoy it a bit.”
