Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 748: Chapter 748: Purely Seeking Abuse

He held up a black umbrella, standing tall like a resilient pine tree, with the brim of his military cap just covering his eyebrows, revealing a pair of handsome eyes that watched quietly and intently at the woman who flung herself toward him like a bird returning to its nest.

”Fuck,” Cheng Yue’s heart felt sour, and he couldn’t help but curse, ”I’m really a busybody, my head must be full of water.”

”I think so too,” Li Zhi said, feeling genuinely sorry for Cheng Yue as he watched the affectionate couple not far away, ”The daughter-in-law of the Northern Military Region’s Commander, how could there be no one to pick her up? Even if her husband doesn’t come, the family’s guard would, right? Forget it, don’t think too much about it, what’s a young man but someone who loses love? Cry for a while, get drunk, and it’s all past.”

Hearing this, Cheng Yue clenched his teeth and, without another word, pedaled his bicycle to follow them.

They say that spring rain is as precious as oil, dropping only a few drops before ceasing, but today’s spring rain seemed to understand Cheng Yue’s thoughts, drizzling down incessantly.

He pedaled his bike, silently watching the happy couple ahead of him.

Every word of their conversation was clearly heard by him.

”Why did you come here yourself today?”

”I was worried about you going back alone. The city has become chaotic after the New Year, and I was very concerned about you going home by yourself.”

”How did you come? By car? Or...?”

”I walked here! The place where I’m training is close to you; after class, I came over,” Qin Jian said with a gentle voice, ”Don’t you like the feeling of walking on the road with an umbrella when it rains? I like it too.”

An Hao looked up at him and smiled slightly, ”What I like is walking in the rain with you under an umbrella. And then, our fingers intertwined tightly...”

”Fuck,” Li Zhi gasped as he caught up, ”Cheng Yue, are you looking to be tortured? Can you really take this scene?”

”Mind your own business!” Cheng Yue knew he had no chance with An Hao, and decided to just stimulate himself for a moment, to feel the pain, to become numb, and then it would all be better.

This method was called fighting poison with poison!

”I’ll mind my business! If I don’t, you’ll end up at their doorstep,” Li Zhi insisted, pedaling hard and suddenly turning to block Cheng Yue’s path, ”Come on! Come back with me!”

”No!”

”Will you stop being stubborn, okay? Do you want to get soaked by the rain and then go back and get sick?” Li Zhi bellowed at him.

Cheng Yue watched as the couple’s voices and shadows grew more distant, heaved a deep sigh, and said to Li Zhi, ”This is the last time! If I ever do anything like this again, just punch me awake!”

”Sure thing, sure thing!” Li Zhi agreed wholeheartedly.

Cheng Yue got on his bicycle, turned around, and followed Li Zhi back. They hadn’t ridden far when they were suddenly stopped by a person who rushed out from the side of the road.

”Are you heading to Military Medical University on Sishui Road?” asked a female soldier. She was slender, stood tall, and possessed distinctively beautiful features. As she spoke, her chin tilted up slightly with an inherent pride.

”Yes, what’s up? PLA sister?” Li Zhi, who was sweet-mouthed, perked up when he saw a female soldier, and jovially struck up a conversation.

”Give me a lift.”

”Fine! But, sister, you have to tell me your name; otherwise, I won’t take you!”

”Yan Huan.”

”Yan Huan, sister, hop on,” said Li Zhi, readily agreeing. After all, they were from the military compound, and seeing someone in uniform naturally felt familiar.

Yan Huan looked at Li Zhi and then at Cheng Yue. One glance was enough to tell that Cheng Yue was stronger.

So, she took a few running steps and, with swift and agile movements, jumped onto Cheng Yue’s bike.
