Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 729: Chapter 729 Verbal Bank Run

Feng Yuzhi felt a tad awkward upon hearing this, ”Oh dear, it was my mistake. I forgot to ask if there was anything you didn’t like to eat when making the dumplings.”

”Go quickly! Hurry to the kitchen and make some noodles for An Hao,” Yan Luquan urged his wife to redo the dish.

”No need, no need,” Zhang Yun quickly intervened, ”We have ready-made food at home...”

”How can that be acceptable? There’s no such thing as going home hungry and eating later,” Feng Yuzhi said, standing up to go to the kitchen.

”Auntie, there’s no need!” An Hao felt embarrassed to trouble the host on New Year’s Eve and hurriedly said, ”I’m fine, it’s not that I can’t eat it, I just don’t like it much...”

”Exactly! Why make such a fuss? Do you think you are some noble lady who can afford to be picky?” Yan Huan couldn’t stand An Hao’s attitude and spoke out with sharp words.

”Child, how can you speak like that?” Feng Yuzhi glared at Yan Huan.

”If you really don’t like it, I have some biscuits! I used to eat them when staying up late. How about I get them for you?” Yan Ye asked An Hao’s preference.

”No, it’s fine! I can really eat...”

Qin Jian understood how An Hao felt; naturally, one wouldn’t want to cause trouble when visiting someone’s home.

On such a festive occasion, it definitely wouldn’t do to have Feng Yuzhi go back to kneading and rolling out noodles.

But, leaving now would seem quite improper.

So, he picked up a dumpling from An Hao’s bowl, pierced its belly, leaving just a small amount of meat and skin for An Hao, ”Try this now.”

Though it wasn’t enough to satisfy hunger, it was something to make do with for now, and they could make something else to eat after returning home early.

An Hao couldn’t help but laugh. She took a dumpling to her mouth, and to her surprise, it tasted somewhat good, ”It’s fine; please continue then.”

”The affection between this young couple is truly enviable!” Yan Luquan remarked wistfully, ”I’m really looking forward to the day when my two kids get married, so I can witness such a sweet scene!”

Yan Huan looked at An Hao with distaste, ”They’re even eating from the same chopsticks! How utterly disgusting...”

She felt the last word was inappropriate and left it unspoken.

”This child is getting more and more out of line!” Feng Yuzhi quickly rebuked her, ”We’re all eating here; can’t you stop causing everyone distress?”

Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun appeared somewhat uncomfortable. Their son was also very affectionate towards his wife at home, occasionally serving her food. No couple could compare to their loving relationship.

So why was it disgusting here?

Feng Yuzhi’s words also made Yan Huan unhappy. She glared at An Hao, ”I just can’t stand her pretentiousness. Now, when everyone thinks eating some meat is a good thing, look at her face. It’s as if eating meat is dreadful. From her expression, could she be so disgusted that it’s offensive? Isn’t this an indirect way of saying our food is unpalatable?”

Before Yan Huan had finished speaking, An Hao felt a surge of revulsion in her heart. Had she said anything at all?

She hadn’t uttered a word, and while she truly found the meal somewhat disagreeable, simply stating the truth had sparked such criticism?

An Hao felt upset, and just as she was about to say something, a strong wave of nausea swept up from her stomach. She furrowed her brow and, without another word, got up and rushed out the door.

Seeing An Hao’s pale face, Qin Jian quickly followed her.

Yan Ye assumed An Hao had left out of anger, casting a cold glance at Yan Huan, ”Great! You’ve successfully ruined everyone’s mood.”

Yan Huan: ”...”

At that moment, the sound of An Hao vomiting intensely came from outside, startling everyone present.

It was Feng Yuzhi who first came to her senses, ”Could it be that An Hao is pregnant?”
