Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 727: Chapter 727: The Tangled Threads of Affection

Cheng Yu froze for a moment, looking at Cheng Yue who was smiling like a fox, ”What can you do even if you know? He and I are just two parallel lines in different worlds, never meant to cross.”

”But I want to know.” A lover who had been hidden in the depths of her heart for eight or nine years, yet she had never seen him again after they parted.

What kind of persistent affection must it be that keeps my sister guarding and unwilling to let go?

”A man with courage, who isn’t afraid of death! One who never abandons any of his comrades on the battlefield,” Cheng Yu said slowly, the face that was no longer clear surfacing in her mind.

It’s been too long, and she could no longer remember his features clearly.

But if he appeared before her at this moment, she would still be able to recognize him at a glance.

”That’s too vague,” Cheng Yue said annoyed, ”Sis, after all these years, can’t you satisfy my curiosity? You’re really good at keeping things hidden in your heart.”

Cheng Yu laughed silently, ”What can you do even if you know? This man, after all, already belongs to someone else.”

”What?” Cheng Yue was shocked, ”Why is your story so tragic? I’m tragic too? The girl I’m in love with is also married.

”So from now on, let her be the ’white moonlight’ in your heart. Treasured in memory, yet belonging only to you,” said Cheng Yu.

”Yeah, what can I do? Even if I’m not content, I have no choice!” Cheng Yue said helplessly, ”But I’m still okay, it’s just young love lost, I can start over. What about you, sis? You’re already thirty, won’t you consider Zhang Chaoqian’s brother? He’s been divorced, but after all, it was the woman’s fault. His brother is a good man. You can’t keep pretending to be with that other guy and remain alone your whole life, can you?”

”What can my body do? Who knows, I might die any day! Alive, I’m just lingering on,” Cheng Yu said.

”Don’t talk nonsense,” Cheng Yue frowned, ”Haven’t you been in the United States all these years? You’ve had several surgeries, and the doctors have said, haven’t they? You can now live a normal life, and with medical advances, you might still have a chance to be cured.”

”Yuyu, I’m a doctor myself. I understand the situation very well. According to the current medical technology, it will take at least another ten years. Yuyu, I’m afraid I might not even wait that long,” Cheng Yu was not optimistic about the future.

”Sis! Don’t talk like this in front of our parents. It will make them very sad,” Cheng Yue said in a low voice, enveloped by a chill of melancholy.

”Don’t worry! I won’t do that.”

”Oh, by the way, sis! I heard from dad that you’re planning to work?” Cheng Yue thought about their father’s job-transferring matters, ”The family isn’t short on money, why do you have to wear yourself out like this?”

This time, Cheng Yu did not beat around the bush with Cheng Yue and told him directly, ”Yuyu, I’ve always had an unfulfilled desire. I’ve been thinking that if I could live a healthy life, that would be it. But if my life is limited, I would still like to go see that man I’ve always been yearning for.”

”I understand,” Cheng Yue said, ”But do you think he will really remember you?”

”I’m not sure,” Cheng Yu sighed deeply, ”I just want to resolve my obsession. Do my best and leave the rest to fate.”

Cheng Yue nodded, he saw some signs of fatigue on Cheng Yu’s face and so he said his goodbyes and went downstairs.

Cheng Yu took a book from her shelf, took out a dry maple leaf, and carefully placed it in an envelope.

This time, she took out paper and pen and wrote a sentence on the letter: ”You are still here, yet you do not
