Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 741: Chapter 741: Give an Inch, Take a Mile

Qin Fen and Song Yueqin planned to stay here for two days, freeloading for food and shelter, and they hadn’t brought anything with them.

Song Yueqin had already grasped the Ning Family’s mindset. If they didn’t agree, she could talk to the neighbors about how Qin Ru Hai had saved someone.

After all, Ning Yibin was a military commander.

The more high-ranking the official, the more they care about their reputation.

So, she figured they wouldn’t kick her out.

As for An Hao, she no longer regarded her as important. Having a tight grip on Qin Fen gave her the leverage to bargain with Qin Jian.

The Ning Family would be embarrassed to drive her out, but could An Hao do it?

”Sister-in-law, we came in such a hurry that we didn’t manage to buy anything. Next time, for sure!”

”Not bringing gifts is considered coming to visit? It’s my first time hearing that visiting elders means coming with nothing but two mouths to feed,” An Hao said without any mercy.

Song Yueqin’s shadow haunted her, infiltrating her life.

Her marriage to Qin Fen had impure intentions!

”Sister-in-law, look at what you’re saying,” Song Yueqin narrowed her eyes, her gaze filled with dissatisfaction towards An Hao, ”there’s a saying, ’a gift of goose feather from afar shows the giver’s true regard.’ The thought is what counts!”

Such a skilled debater!

An Hao sneered, ”Fine! We’ve seen each other, and your thought is delivered! Can you leave now?”

Qin Fen couldn’t hold back anymore, ”Sister-in-law, what would my brother think if he knew you were treating us this way? We came from far away and haven’t even had a sip of water. Now, as mealtime approaches, you’re starting to chase us out! How would it look if word got out? Wouldn’t people laugh at us?”

Zhang Yun had a lifetime of good reputation in everyone’s mouths; she didn’t want to become a laughing stock.

It’s just one meal, isn’t it?

”Your sister-in-law was just saying. How could we not keep you for dinner? Sit down, I’m going to cook!” Despite her displeasure, Zhang Yun decided to cook anyway.

An Hao tossed her backpack and followed into the kitchen, ”Mom, don’t cook! They’ll take an inch if you give them a foot. Here’s what we’ll do, find an excuse to go out to eat with dad tonight! I’ll cook for them at home!”

”Is that alright?” Zhang Yun looked at An Hao doubtfully.

”Mom! Don’t worry! I can handle those two on my own easily; with you here, I can’t spread my wings,” An Hao assured her.

Zhang Yun laughed out loud, embracing An Hao’s shoulders, ”If outsiders knew about this, they’d say we mother and daughter are scheming against our guests, how improper would that be?”

”Mom! It’s enough that you and I know about this. Especially, don’t tell Qin Jian. You know him, he’s sentimental and the Qin Family raised him for thirty years. He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing!”

”Alright,” Zhang Yun felt that her daughter-in-law made sense, ”So, Mom should go out now?”

”Go ahead, pretend like you don’t know a thing,” An Hao said with a sly smile.

Using an excuse, Zhang Yun went out to eat, leaving An Hao to cook for them.

”Sister-in-law! You’d better make us some good food!” Qin Fen, afraid that An Hao wouldn’t make delicious dishes, loudly reminded her.

”Sure! Just wait for it,” An Hao agreed and started cooking, ”I haven’t cooked in a long time; I know how good my skills are.”

”Even if you make us a pile of sh*t, we’d still eat it,” Song Yueqin didn’t believe that An Hao would really serve them something that terrible.

An Hao gave a cold laugh and thus began cooking.

Insisting on staying, huh? Well, then stay and taste the food.
