Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 717: Chapter 717: The Window-Jumping Threat

Gu Yishan stepped out of the house and saw Tian Niu, which genuinely startled him: ”You’re Tian Niu?”

Tian Niu remembered that Gu Shuangshuang had once told him, her father was the Chief of Staff!

Thus, he immediately stood at attention, letting Gu Shuangshuang’s hand hang around his neck, and saluted Gu Yishan, ”Greetings, Commander!”

Gu Yishan caught his breath, nodded his head, and tried his best to control his emotions as he said to Tian Niu, ”Both of you come inside.”

Tian Niu sat on the couch alone, undergoing scrutiny from Gu Shuangshuang’s parents.

”Why don’t you introduce yourself?” Gu Yishan said.

”Yes, Commander!” Tian Niu took a deep breath and said, ”My name is Tian Niu, twenty-eight years old this year! Currently serving as a battalion commander in the 129th Infantry Division of the Northwest Military Region. My family has many brothers and sisters, my parents are already old, and my personal conditions are not good, I’m also not handsome! But I love Gu Shuangshuang very much!”

After listening to his introduction, Gu Yishan was put in a difficult position: ”You’re based in the Northwest! Wouldn’t Shuangshuang also have to move there? She’s my only daughter! I think it’s better to forget it! Besides, you’re quite a bit older than Gu Shuangshuang! I’m not too fond of that!”

”Don’t bother Gu Shuangshuang anymore. I do not approve of this marriage!” Duan Aihua showed no kindness towards Tian Niu, ”From now on, don’t say you love Gu Shuangshuang. If you loved her, you wouldn’t have disregarded her issues, getting her pregnant before she even graduated. Don’t think that just because you’ve made the rice into congee, I will agree to it!”

Tian Niu looked at Gu Shuangshuang in shock before turning his head and slowly saying, ”Shuangshuang is deceiving you! I am a soldier! And I am a man who loves Gu Shuangshuang deeply! No matter from which aspect, I could never do such a thing to Gu Shuangshuang! Please, uncle and aunt, give me a chance!”

”There’s no use talking! This matter won’t work!” Duan Aihua left no room for negotiation.

”Oh? Is that so?” Gu Shuangshuang smiled, took three steps in two, and walked towards the window, then with a bang, she pushed open the window glass, ”Two choices. One, agree with me, and I remain your daughter. Two, refuse me. If I can’t live according to my own thoughts, I’d rather die!”

”Shuangshuang, don’t be impulsive!” Tian Niu saw Gu Shuangshuang threatening her parents with her life, which made him shake with cold sweats, ”Nothing is more important than your own life!”

”Yes, Shuangshuang, don’t act recklessly!” Gu Yishan was worried his daughter, known for her strong will, might truly do something drastic.

”Let her jump; she wouldn’t dare!” Duan Aihua believed Gu Shuangshuang was just trying to scare them and initially didn’t take it seriously.

”You really are my own mother!” Gu Shuangshuang finished speaking and without hesitation climbed onto the window sill, lifting her leg over to the outside, ”Last chance! What’s it gonna be?”

Seeing Gu Shuangshuang was serious, Duan Aihua’s confidence suddenly fled, and she shouted sternly, ”Gu Shuangshuang! Is it meaningful to pressure us like this? For a man, you’re going to end your own life!”

”You’re wrong,” Gu Shuangshuang said calmly, looking at Duan Aihua, ”Mom, you’re wrong! I’m fighting for my love and freedom against you! I want to live life according to my ideals, without you micromanaging my life’s course! You’re a failure in marriage! I don’t think your suggestions will bring me happiness! The countdown begins now, five, four, three...”

”Alright! I agree with you!” Gu Yishan finally relented.
