Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1479: Chapter 1480: Too Bad There’s No Postpartum Care Center

The appearance of Mother Cheng made Cheng Su’s neighbors feel a bit odd. When they learned she was here to take care of Cheng Su, they became more curious. Wasn’t it supposed to be the mother-in-law’s job? They asked, and only then did they learn that Cheng Su’s mother-in-law had an accident.

”Injured her leg, that’s really inconvenient. They say it takes a hundred days to heal from bone and muscle injuries, and your mother-in-law is getting on in years, so this will take even longer. I’m afraid she won’t be able to help you with postpartum care.” Chunhua said.

Cheng Su replied, ”Yes, that’s why I asked my mom to come.”

”Such bad luck, getting into an accident at this time.” Guiying said, holding her son. ”Luckily, she only hurt her leg. They say if you survive a disaster, there’s always good fortune to come!”

Everyone says this, so Cheng Su is used to hearing it.

”It’s good your mom came anyway; she’s better than your mother-in-law. A mother-in-law can never compare to your own mother.” Hualing added from the side.

Cheng Su glanced over, ”What are you going to say now?”

Hualing shrugged, ”Nothing, I’m just stating facts. No matter how close a mother-in-law is, she can’t care for you like your own mother can. Besides, you don’t get along too well with your mother-in-law, right?”

Her words were straight to the point, and Cheng Su glared at her. Even if it’s true, did she have to say it so bluntly?

Guiying nudged Hualing in the waist, signaling her to be more careful with her words.

”What? Did I say something wrong?” Hualing protested, rolling her eyes.

Cheng Su said, ”You’re absolutely right, straight talker!”

Hualing sniffed.

”What’s the big deal? Whoever comes to take care of her, it’s all the same. Cheng Su is a smart woman; she won’t put up with any nonsense.” Chunhua said casually.

Cheng Su isn’t someone who would let herself suffer. No matter who comes to take care of her, it’s the same. Plus, she has money, so why should she worry about postpartum care?

”Exactly, you’re well off anyway. You could hire a few nannies to make sure you’re comfortable.” Hualing said, a bit sourly.

Cheng Su detected the sourness and said, ”Alright, stop picking on me. Right now, there aren’t any maternity centers, so we have to rely on family. If there were maternity centers, I’d just spend some money, move in right after discharge, and avoid the hassle!”

Maternity centers in the future would be so much better, scientific even. Women would come out of postpartum care looking and feeling great, and their babies well looked after, but unfortunately, there aren’t any now.

”Maternity center, what’s that?” they all wondered in surprise.

Cheng Su was a bit taken aback too and then laughed awkwardly, ”It’s a place specifically for postpartum care.”

”Something like that exists?” Everyone was curious.

Cheng Su’s eyes flickered, and she said, ”I just saw somewhere that they have them abroad.”

”Oh? What are they like?” Hualing inquired with interest.

”It’s basically an institution equipped with medical personnel, also known as maternity nannies. They need certain qualifications, similar to healthcare workers at a hospital. They need to know about nutrition, have certain skills like breastfeeding support, infant care, helping mothers recover their figure, and so on. Good maternity centers with professional nannies can make it so postpartum recovery leaves you looking like you never gave birth.”

Chunhua and Guiying listened in amazement, ”There’s such a thing?”

”With social development, there’ll be all kinds of things.” Cheng Su smiled lightly.

”How much does it cost?” Guiying asked.

Cheng Su said, ”The fee would definitely be high; otherwise, how would the maternity center operate? The nannies work hard, so their salary is high, too. Naturally, it’s expensive to go there. But for families with money, it doesn’t matter, because they just want comfort.”

”True enough!”

Hualing stood to the side, eyes shining, looking thoughtful.
