Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1461: Chapter 1462: Finding Another Partner Is the Right Thing to Do

Listening to Father Qi’s heartfelt explanation, Mother Qi felt increasingly uneasy, not knowing what to do with her hands and feet.

”I...”

”Actually, we don’t need to look far; just look at Zhuzi’s wife at the west end of the village, and you’ll see.” Father Qi took a drag of his cigarette and said, ”In the past, Zhuzi’s mother used to make life hard for Zhuzi’s wife, right? She wouldn’t be happy if she ate an extra bowl of rice. Now look at Zhuzi’s mother, living alone, getting more confused, having a meal or not—it’s all because of what she did in the past. Had she not tormented her daughter-in-law then, would she be in this plight now?”

Mother Qi thought of that old lady, greasy-haired and dirty, so confused that she would soil herself without anyone caring, looking pitiful.

”Enough, stop talking about it. I’m already treating her like an ancestor; will that do?” Mother Qi didn’t want to hear any more and changed the subject: ”Now that Fengping is back, although Wenjing is taking care of her, I still don’t feel at ease. I’ll go over in the next couple of days, maybe bring some mountain goods and herbs.”

Father Qi nodded.

”Do you think I should take Xiao Bao to Fenglian?” Mother Qi thought of her little grandson and said, ”If I go over, you’ll be home alone, and taking care of a child isn’t easy.”

Father Qi replied, ”Isn’t Fengping there? If you take him over, Fenglian has to go to work; how would she take care of him? Even if it’s a family-owned shop, it’s not right to always bring a child there.”

Talking about the elder daughter, Mother Qi sat back down in her chair with a long sigh and said, ”That’s the importance of having in-laws. Without them, there’s no one to help care for the children, alas.”

Father Qi sighed, ”That’s just fate. Fate has it this way, and there’s no way around it.”

”It’s been almost two years now; don’t you think it’s time she should find someone else?” Mother Qi added, ”She can’t just live with two children like this, can she?”

Father Qi said, ”She has to be willing herself, and it’s not that easy to find someone. If he’s not good to the kids, it’s all for nothing.”

”But she has to find someone, right? She’s still so young, and there’s a long life ahead. No way, I’ll have to ask around carefully. That Zhang Jisheng’s wife has already given birth, and he’s so smug about it, hmm.” Mother Qi looked annoyed and angry.

Just two months ago, Zhang Jisheng’s new wife gave him a son and invited relatives from the village over for the celebration.

That could be tolerated, but Zhang Jisheng’s mother even boasted about how capable the new wife was—able to both work and bear children—a son at that, claiming superiority, then sarcastically commented on how Qi Fengping was before, also saying that men in their fifties or sixties could still find young girls, whereas how could a divorced woman do so?

The guests who attended the feast came back gossiping, and when it reached Mother Qi’s ears, she almost jumped out, cursing Zhang Jisheng as heartless and a scoundrel, no wonder he hadn’t come to pick up Baobao for a visit—turns out he already had a new addition.

As the saying goes, one must not admit defeat in dignity. Now that Zhang Jisheng remarried and had a son, Qi Fenglian can’t spend her life just raising two children, right? After all, children grow up, so while she’s still young, finding a companion is essential.

Father Qi watched as Mother Qi went out in a hurry, opened his mouth, but didn’t call her back. As parents, who would want to see their children live lonely lives? There must be a companion. Children will eventually grow up and leave; it’s the partner who accompanies you to the end.
