Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1452: Chapter 1453: Announcing Good News

In the next few days, Qi Taiguo indeed didn’t appear, but he still called Cheng Su to greet her, while Deng Weixia also went out every day to look for a job.

After a few days, he said he found a temporary job, moving bricks at a construction site. They provided meals, and the wage was one yuan a day, which was paid daily. Although it was tough, at least he could make some money.

”Sister-in-law, I will keep looking for a job and also find a place to live. But we spent all our money on Jin Sheng’s treatment before, and I found out that rent is quite expensive now. Can we stay a few more days until we find a suitable cheap place to move into?” Deng Weixia said.

Cheng Su replied, ”Staying long-term isn’t possible because this is an apartment dormitory. We’re staying here on your cousin’s face; the rent is twice as expensive as outside, otherwise, we couldn’t live here. So staying a few days is okay, but you need to find a place quickly.”

There are rules in the military, and apartment dormitories are for the families of soldiers. Being able to rent one is only thanks to personal connections, so it’s more about favors than money.

”I’ll definitely find a place quickly,” Deng Weixia said immediately.

Cheng Su nodded.

Liu Wenjing asked if working at the construction site was exhausting, hard, or dangerous. To reassure her, Deng Weixia naturally said it wasn’t.

But everyone knows, doing hard labor, how can it not be tough?

Cheng Su pretended not to hear it; she needed to see how long Deng Weixia could persist.

She privately talked to Qi Taiguo about this, and Qi Taiguo said, ”It’s good for him to work as a temporary worker at the site first. Let him train his perseverance, and I’ll see if there’s anything suitable for him to do.”

Cheng Su didn’t say anything.

The rain kept falling continuously, so Cheng Su couldn’t even go to school or to any of her businesses. She could only remotely control the work progress over the phone.

Fortunately, the factory team was already quite mature, and the management was in place, so she wasn’t worried about any major issues. Whenever there was something important that required Cheng Su’s signature, Xiao Pinshan would bring it to her while returning to the city and also report on the work.

Since Deng Weixia went to do temporary work, Liu Wenjing felt embarrassed to freeload. She helped with cleaning and chores at Cheng Su’s place, so she often saw Xiao Pinshan coming to report work, which made her especially envious.

Cheng Su is truly capable!

And Liu Wenjing going in and out naturally caught the attention of the neighboring residents. They knew she was Qi Taiguo’s cousin-in-law, visiting and staying a few days, so they didn’t say much and sometimes chatted about family matters with her.

The days passed in the rain, and in late May, it finally cleared up. Ying Xiaoya and Cheng Yaozu came to visit Cheng Su, who was almost going moldy at home, and brought a big fruit basket and many nutritional supplements.

”The old man thought that you’ll be giving birth in two months, so you need plenty of supplements. He asked us to bring as much as we could and told you not to be unwilling to eat them,” Cheng Yaozu said.

Cheng Su looked both amused and helpless, saying, ”How much can I eat alone? The last batch you sent, I haven’t even finished half yet. Look, I’m already round.”

”Now you look more like a pregnant woman, though you have gotten more spots!” Ying Xiaoya chimed in, eyes filled with smiles, tinged with a bit of shyness and joy.

Cheng Su raised her eyebrows and said, ”Tell me, is there some good news you two are bringing this time?”

Ying Xiaoya blushed, exchanged a glance with Cheng Yaozu, and Cheng Yaozu said, ”There is indeed good news. Xiao Ya and I are getting married!”
