Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1457: Chapter 1458: A Good Sister-in-law

Cheng Su noticed that after Qi Taiguo had a conversation with Deng Weixia, Deng Weixia’s attitude towards her clearly changed, becoming more respectful and somewhat reverent. She was very curious about what Old Qi had said to make him so cautious.

Qi Taiguo casually said, ”Nothing much, I just told him not to become another Zhang Jisheng, otherwise there’d be no family ties left to speak of, and no relatives in the future.”

Cheng Su was taken aback and laughed teasingly, ”Aren’t you using your position to pressure people?”

Qi Taiguo glanced at her and said, ”What’s wrong with that? I’m just teaching him how to behave, giving him a heads-up in advance. You have a kind heart, I don’t want you to lose face. After all, he’s going to work at your restaurant. If anything happens, it’s still your reputation at stake.”

If Cheng Su lost face, then he’d lose even more face, since Cheng Su was helping Deng Weixia out of goodwill and consideration. Not helping him, no one would have any reason to say anything. It’s like the saying: helping you is kindness, not helping you is reasonable.

But Deng Weixia is Qi Taiguo’s actual cousin, if he ends up causing any embarrassing troubles, then his old face would be utterly lost, especially in front of Cheng Su.

Cheng Su said, ”I hope I didn’t misjudge him this time!”

Since it was decided that he would work at the restaurant, seeing that June was approaching, Qi Fengping had to hurry home to prepare for exams. Knowing that with Mother Qi’s arrival, the two of them definitely couldn’t face it, Qi Taiguo suggested that Deng Weixia go back to the hometown and apologize first.

He privately handed Deng Weixia two Great Unity RMB notes, ”Rent a house first, you’ve got to have a place to stay.”

Deng Weixia refused, ”You guys introduced me to a job, that’s enough. Why give me money? I can’t take it. It’s also awkward with my sister-in-law.”

”Your sister-in-law doesn’t know, and even if she did, she wouldn’t say anything,” Qi Taiguo said. ”Just take it for now. Working at the restaurant includes meals, but Wenjing and the kids also need to eat, right? Besides, since you’re new, the salary won’t be high. Expenses are everywhere, where will you get the money?”

Deng Weixia blushed, ”I did work at a construction site before and earned about ten yuan.”

”What’s that worth?” Qi Taiguo said, ”You should first go home, sincerely apologize to your mom. Though she might still resent you, what can she do? Admit your mistakes and then gradually settle down.”

Deng Weixia nodded in gratitude.

So, Deng Weixia rented a house first, sorted out the accommodation, and then took a bus back to his hometown. Liu Wenjing and the children didn’t plan to return yet either, feeling embarrassed. They thought about making plans once they were settled.

With Deng Weixia gone, Qi Fengping also returned home to prepare for exams, conveniently before Mother Qi’s arrival. Liu Wenjing, staying at Cheng Su’s house, could also help take care of her.

Before leaving, Cheng Su had a lengthy talk with Qi Fengping, essentially asking her to share Liu Wenjing’s situation with Mother Qi and to explain the stakes involved, hoping Mother Qi would try to persuade her steadfast older sister.

Despite the underlying threat and the matters done under the radar, at this point, what other good options does her aunt have if she doesn’t compromise?

She should consider herself and Weiqiu’s future, right?

Qi Fengping listened and agreed to discuss things thoroughly with Mother Qi. She also privately spoke to Liu Wenjing about this, saying, ”My sister-in-law has no complaints about you. Sister-in-law, I’m leaving, please take good care of her.”

Liu Wenjing was deeply grateful and nodded, ”I definitely will.”
