I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Persistent High Fever

Beisisi’s face was covered in scratches, red marks crisscrossing her cheeks. When her tears fell, the pain was unbearable!

Not far away, Du Chunmei was wrestling with a hefty woman. But how could she be a match for her? The woman grabbed her hair and landed several slaps on her face in quick succession!

”Zhang Sanshan, you heartless man, you deceived my daughter! You have a wife and children and still dared to deceive my daughter!” Du Chunmei’s face was swollen from the beating. Seeing Zhang Sanshan standing aside without intervening, she began to cry and shout.

Beisisi was terrified, never having witnessed such a scene before. Seeing her mother being slapped, and then seeing Zhang Sanshan hesitating, stomping his feet yet not stepping forward, she hurriedly ran over to hold his arm.

”Brother Shan, save my mother!” Beisisi cried, looking pitiful like a rain-drenched pear blossom, but the hideous red streaks on her face marred her beauty.

Zhang Sanshan had no time to look at Beisisi. Even though he was tired of his current wife, they had been together for years and had two sons. He wouldn’t really divorce her for a lover. He’d had many affairs before, but had never been caught. Who would have thought this time he’d get caught red-handed!

Zhang Sanshan was also scared of making too big a scene. Many onlookers had already gathered on the street, and he cared about his reputation. He had no choice but to step in bravely and pull them apart.

As expected, his fierce wife turned around to slap him, but he caught her wrist.

”Xingmei, you misunderstood! Listen to me explain. It’s not what you think. Let’s go home and talk it out properly, okay?”

Zhang Sanshan spoke while trying to pull the two women apart, coaxing and pleading. It took a great effort to separate them.

Du Chunmei’s tears fell uncontrollably from the pain, watching the robust woman still clutching a tuft of her hair, making her scalp ache even more!

”Zhang Sanshan, if you don’t give us an explanation today, this won’t be over!” Du Chunmei pointed at Zhang Sanshan and said.

’Mother~ boohoo...’ Seeing the two separate, Beisisi ran over, holding Du Chunmei’s arm, only wanting to leave this embarrassing, infuriating, and humiliating place as soon as possible.

Hearing Du Chunmei’s words, Zhang Sanshan turned back and gave her a cold look, ”Explain what? What did I deceive your daughter about? It was a friend’s request for me to help you find a place to stay in Qingzhou Town, and you pin it on me instead. I told you long ago that I have a family, yet you still urged your daughter to cling to me!”

Upon hearing this, Sanshan’s wife shook off Zhang Sanshan and tried to attack Du Chunmei again. Du Chunmei quickly retreated a few steps, and Zhang Sanshan, swift as a hawk, grabbed her again.

”Xingmei, calm down. I’ll explain to you at home. You’ve really misunderstood me!” Zhang Sanshan ignored Du Chunmei and her daughter, not even glancing at Beisisi, and hurriedly left with his wife and children.

They left quickly, leaving Du Chunmei and her daughter alone. Not daring to linger in the street, they quickly went upstairs to lock the door.

After locking the door, Du Chunmei took a couple of breaths, sat on the bed, and whispered, ”It’s fortunate nothing happened yet!”

Standing to the side, Beisisi trembled, bowing her head even lower.

Seeing this, Du Chunmei’s eyes widened, and she grabbed Beisisi’s arm, ”What are you feeling guilty about! Tell me, did you two do it?”

Beisisi started crying immediately.

Seeing this, Du Chunmei understood, realizing she’d been watching them carefully, but the girl was still so bold and reckless.

”When did it happen?” Du Chunmei was shaking with anger, delivering a smack to her back.

Beisisi sobbed and said, ”Just a couple of days ago...”

”Where!”

Beisisi cried without answering.

”Speak!” Du Chunmei barked softly.

Beisisi shivered, whimpered a couple of times, and softly said, ”I don’t know where, he took me to a forest...”

Du Chunmei almost fainted upon hearing this. Zhang Sanshan, the scumbag, had actually tricked her!

Realizing Beisisi had been deceived into wilderness trysts, Du Chunmei was furious, stepping forward to smack her arms twice, making Beisisi wail with pain.

”Didn’t I say you couldn’t do such a thing, didn’t I say it! Didn’t I!” Du Chunmei chased and slapped Beisisi in rage.

But hitting wouldn’t solve anything. Now she needed to think about what to do next.

They had long known that Zhang Sanshan had a family. Du Chunmei always thought men were fickle. Her daughter Sisi was still young; she believed she could steal him away. But seeing things today, it was clear Beisisi hadn’t managed to fully entice him yet.

That day was a disaster for Du Chunmei and her daughter. Not only was Sisi deceived physically, but they might also lose their place to stay.

Meanwhile, at the home, Beisitian was focused on treating Luo Anguo’s leg, unaware of the commotion in Qingzhou Town. The herbs collected from the last mountain trip proved to be very effective, with Luo Anguo’s leg improving every day.

At this rate, Luo Anguo would soon be able to walk on his own. Once the house was built, Beisitian planned to leave.

As for where to go, Beisitian hadn’t planned yet. The idea of becoming a military doctor seemed like a good option.

It would be best to consult with the old man about this. If not feasible, she would need to make other plans soon.

With the arrival of May, the weather was gradually warming up, with significant temperature differences between morning and night. Many villagers started catching colds and fevers again.

Luo Er’s family still didn’t have a single patient.

Ever since Beisitian saved Liu Chunyu’s mother, she had gained some recognition in the village. However, due to her previous reputation, more people remained skeptical.

On this day, Yang Wulang came to Luo Er’s family with his medical kit.

”Uncle Yang, what brings you to visit us now?” Beisitian smiled, serving a glass of water.

Yang Wulang gulped down the water, put down the glass, and glanced at Luo Anguo standing by the cabinet before speaking, ”I just finished giving an infusion to Old Guo’s child, and I dropped by on the way.”

Seeing that Luo Anguo could stand and walk now, Yang Wulang was initially surprised but also not entirely unexpected.

During his previous visit, Luo Anguo needed support to walk. When he arrived earlier, he saw Luo Anguo shuffling slowly in the courtyard, walking unsteadily but without any support.

From the bottom of his heart, he admired Beisitian!

”Little Tian’er, Old Guo’s child has had a high fever for a week straight. No medication seems to lower it. What do you think might be the issue?” Yang Wulang asked Beisitian.

”How high is the fever? Are there any other symptoms?”

”I’ve been checking daily, and the temperature stays at 39° to 40°, with constant coughing. The injections didn’t help before, so we started infusions recently. I think there must be an infection, otherwise, the fever wouldn’t persist.”
