I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 321: Chapter 320: Doesn’t Like Her Calligraphy

Beisitian’s calligraphy was brought onto the stage. Zhao Zhongqi was the first to take it up. Upon seeing the beautiful cursive script, his eyes lit up and he nodded repeatedly.

”Great calligraphy! Great calligraphy! Truly great calligraphy!”

Every time he said ”great calligraphy,” Sun Guicai’s face turned a shade darker. Seeing Zhao Zhongqi’s reaction, could it be that Beisitian’s writing was even better?

Sun Guicai didn’t know much about calligraphy, especially since the two were writing in different styles. Plus, with his fondness for Li Ying, he couldn’t tell who was better or worse. To him, Li Ying’s work was the best.

Zhao Zhongqi’s reaction dampened Sun Guicai’s spirits. Watching the literary soldiers hand the calligraphy to Wu Yuekai, he closely observed the reaction of this senior advisor. If even he thought Beisitian’s writing was good, then they might really lose.

Since Zhao Zhongqi held the microphone, his words were transmitted verbatim to the stage. Just moments ago, Li Ying was somewhat smug, but now her smile nearly cracked, and her lips stiffened.

She never expected that Beisitian could write calligraphy, let alone that it might be so good!

When Beisitian’s calligraphy was first displayed, Li Ying’s heart gave a jolt. After Zhao Zhongqi’s commentary, her expression turned a bit ugly.

Wu Yuekai received the piece, glanced at it, and suddenly snorted coldly, causing Sun Guicai’s eyes to brighten.

This senior advisor didn’t like Beisitian’s calligraphy!

The cold snort echoed throughout the venue. Seeing the displeasure on Wu Yuekai’s face, everyone assumed he disliked Beisitian’s calligraphy.

Hope flickered in Li Ying’s eyes.

Wu Yuekai waved the calligraphy around, took the microphone from a literary soldier, stood up, and walked to the edge of the stage to speak.

”Girl, if you’re holding back, I’ll directly declare you lost.”

Though his voice wasn’t loud, his words left everyone baffled.

Was he suggesting that Beisitian hadn’t shown her true skills?

A light murmur arose from the audience.

On stage, Beisitian’s mouth twitched slightly. What could she do with the increasingly unreasonable old fellow...

When she saw that piece, she knew the old man’s intention. He had asked her for a ”Flower-Pinning Small楷” of this poem before, but its theme didn’t align with her thoughts, so she was reluctant. Unexpectedly, he took this opportunity to ask again.

Really... so unreasonable...

Beisitian met Wu Yuekai’s gaze from afar for a long while. Seeing his expression of ”if you don’t write, you lose,” she finally surrendered.

There was no choice; his expression was the spitting image of her master’s, and she couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly.

Luo Xudong watched the interaction between the elderly and the young on stage, raising an eyebrow. Their relationship seemed to have improved!

Li Ying felt uncertain and suspicious. She naturally understood the implicit meaning in the senior advisor’s words. Did they know each other beforehand?

Not only that, was Beisitian’s cursive script not her true level?!

This realization made Li Ying feel as though needles had pricked her mind, as it seemed impossible. This cursive calligraphy was already far superior to hers. If it wasn’t her true level, what would that be?

Beisitian picked up her brush again and wrote the poem using the ”Flower-Pinning Small楷.”

The poem was quickly finished. Under Wu Yuekai’s fierce glare, before it could be displayed, the sweating literary soldier took it to the high platform.

Perhaps only the calligraphy fanatic Zhao Zhongqi couldn’t see Wu Yuekai’s fierce glare. Standing at the stairs of the high platform, he intercepted the piece directly from the literary soldier, causing Sun Guicai and several other elderly cadres to break into a cold sweat.

Holding the piece, Zhao Zhongqi was thunderstruck, ”This is... this can’t be!”

He had seen this ”Flower-Pinning Small楷” before. At an exchange meeting, a person named Feng displayed it, causing quite a stir at the time.

That ”Flower-Pinning Small楷” then was comparable to Lady Jin Wei’s level. Some even thought it was on par, but one thing was certain: the artistic conception it expressed far exceeded some renowned artists.

Since the person named Feng was unwilling to reveal the details of the calligrapher, the only known fact was that it was written by someone named ’Beisitian.’

The surname Bei wasn’t common, although many names were Beisitian, only the gender was certain.

This ’Beisitian’ person appeared for the first time in the literary circle, causing significant attention and adding a layer of mystery due to the unknown identity.

Zhao Zhongqi wanted to buy that piece at the time, but it was sold to another person at a high price. When asked again, the person named Feng only gave a wry smile, saying there was only one.

It seemed Feng didn’t plan to sell it, only doing so under pressure from someone else.

Zhao Zhongqi sighed in regret. The memory of not acquiring it was etched deeper. Thus, upon seeing this piece, he immediately recognized it as the ”Flower-Pinning Small楷” from that master!

That master...

Zhao Zhongqi turned to look at the stage, his thunderstruck expression due to realizing that the master he’d admired was just a girl in her early twenties!

”This... this can’t be!”

The realization shocked Zhao Zhongqi so much his hands trembled with the piece.

Seeing this, Wu Yuekai’s face darkened instantly. This piece was painstakingly acquired, and if anything happened to it due to the idiot, his heart would ache tremendously!

”Give it to me!” Wu Yuekai approached Zhao Zhongqi from behind and said in a low voice.

Zhao Zhongqi seemed not to hear Wu Yuekai, fully absorbed in the thought of the twenty-something master, with his mind like a raging torrent, unable to calm down.

Had he not seen it with his own eyes, he’d have thought Beisitian used the master’s original work and passed it as her own...

Even if the handwriting could be mimicked, the mood and conception within the characters couldn’t!

This piece of work was indeed handwritten by the person herself, meaning that the master in his mind was undoubtedly the young girl on stage!

Wu Yuekai saw Zhao Zhongqi ignoring him but dared not snatch it openly, so he stewed in frustration behind him.

Li Xuejun suppressed the urge to cover his face, noticing that since the senior advisor came to senses after being poisoned, his character seemed to have gained some ’old child’ traits. Of course, he only thought this silently, never daring to voice it.

Li Xuejun hurried forward to act as Wu Yuekai’s proxy, cheerfully saying to Zhao Zhongqi, ”Old Military Advisor Zhao, you’re going to ruin this piece with your grip!”

Startled, Zhao Zhongqi quickly looked at his hands, realizing he had crumpled the paper with his grip, instantly feeling heartache, trying to support it with one hand while smoothing the creases with the other.

”Let me hold it for you,” Li Xuejun cheerily took the piece, ”Alright, alright, it’s fine now.” He then handed it over to Wu Yuekai behind him.

Wu Yuekai glanced at him approvingly, causing Li Xuejun’s heart to flutter with delight.
