I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 348: Chapter 347: Could It Be Her

”Doctor Tian, General Zhou’s condition has changed,” a doctor who entered said politely.

This doctor is Mei Siyuan, the Dean of the Air Force Hospital. The initial data monitoring for Zhou Biwu was conducted by him and Du Kai Bo.

”Dean Mei, let’s not waste any more time,” said a female doctor wearing glasses, standing behind Mei Siyuan. She looked to be about forty, with a somewhat arrogant demeanor, looking at Tian Qinghui and the others with disdain.

This scorn and contempt were not hidden at all.

Zhang Man adjusted her glasses, clearly implying that talking to these traditional Chinese medicine doctors was purely a waste of time.

Behind her, Tian Qingyao, filled with anger, was about to step forward to argue with her but was held back by Tian Hezhen.

Tian Qinghui glanced at the woman, silently suppressing his anger. Now was not the time to erupt; the pressing matter was to understand what was happening with General Zhou.

Mei Siyuan smiled wryly and quickly said, ”Don’t take it to heart, don’t take it to heart. Associate Professor Zhang is just straightforward, so please don’t misunderstand. Let’s first go and see General Zhou.”

He was somewhat troubled, not understanding what those above were thinking by sending Zhang Man over. Zhang Man was as proud as a peacock and looked down on traditional Chinese medicine in the slightest. Her straightforward nature made her somewhat tactless, unable to say anything diplomatic, offending people wherever she went.

If she weren’t protected, how could she have gotten this far today?

However, she was indeed talented. She graduated from a famous medical university abroad at eighteen, then spent four years pursuing a master’s and a Ph.D. She could be considered a prodigy. How many medical doctors are there in the country now?

But her temperament was truly frustrating. With her being sent here from above, along with the involvement of the Tian Family, it likely wouldn’t be peaceful.

With Mei Siyuan’s words, Tian Qinghui didn’t say much, following in with a sullen face.

Zhou Biwu’s condition had not changed much for a week. If not for the Tian Family’s ginseng, he would have passed away before the new year. Now, his life was sustained by that breath, so there was naturally no change in his physical condition. Therefore, today’s sudden change uplifted everyone’s spirits.

As everyone arrived, a nurse was recording data. Seeing so many doctors entering, the two young nurses stepped aside.

Zhang Man walked up to the two nurses and extended her hand, ”Give me the data.”

The two young nurses hurriedly handed the chart to Zhang Man, somewhat fearful of her as she seemed challenging to deal with.

”General Zhou’s heart rate is nearing normal!” Zhang Man’s face changed slightly as she looked up at Mei Siyuan.

Zhou Biwu’s heart rate was very low before, with a constant risk of cardiac arrest, and the change frequency was very small. Even with ginseng sustaining a breath, there was basically little hope for recovery.

Mei Siyuan looked at the small monitoring device at the bedside. These instruments were all imported, as the country did not yet have the capability to produce them independently. The displayed heart rate was nearing a normal range!

”When did the change start?” Mei Siyuan asked excitedly.

Zhang Man flipped through the data records and said, ”It started at four o’clock in the morning.”

”Four in the morning...” Mei Siyuan murmured, ”What made General Zhou’s condition suddenly change?”

Zhou Biwu’s condition could not have changed without external intervention, and this change was in a positive direction, with a significant range!

”As the doctors who have been caring for General Zhou, you must be the most aware of this change. Please explain,” Zhang Man said, leaning against the windowsill with her arms crossed, looking at the three traditional Chinese medicine doctors of the Tian Family.

Her tone with the Tian Family’s three doctors was the same as with the young nurses, completely disregarding the Tian Family.

Tian Qinghui stepped forward and gently placed his hand on Zhou Biwu’s wrist, a look of surprise flashing across his face. The pulse had indeed become stronger!

In the morning, during the routine check, Tian Qinghui had noticed this, but due to the prolonged unchanging condition of Zhou Biwu, he was somewhat incredulous. So he discussed with the other two, but before they could reach a conclusion, these people had come in.

Yesterday evening, Tian Qinghui had talked to Mei Siyuan during the check, completely ignoring Zhang Man. Tian Qingyao and Tian Hezhen also didn’t spare Zhang Man a glance, making her face turn livid with anger.

”I’m asking you again, is this the kind of upbringing the Tian Family has?” Zhang Man said grimly.

Tian Qinghui sneered, ”Associate Professor Zhang’s upbringing is indeed admirable. We don’t dare to compare with Associate Professor Zhang!”

The sarcasm in his words was obvious to anyone.

”You...” Zhang Man’s anger flared, thinking these worthless traditional Chinese medicine doctors dared to flaunt themselves here, an eyesore to behold!

The topic of traditional versus Western medicine was sensitive now. Although Zhang Man looked down on traditional medicine, she wouldn’t bring up this issue openly. She was proud, not stupid.

Mei Siyuan heard Zhang Man’s rigidly arrogant tone, slightly frowned. This person never knew how to restrain herself because someone always covered for her, leaving her without any worries, and she never thought she was wrong.

For someone like her to remain ’unique’ in the vast social arena was quite remarkable.

Although Mei Siyuan did not particularly like Zhang Man’s personality, he didn’t intend to directly address it, fearing she might say something offensive to escalate the conflict. He coughed lightly and said, ”It looks like Dean Du is about to arrive. Let’s wait a bit before discussing further.”

Just as he finished speaking, hurried footsteps were heard at the door; Du Kai Bo had arrived.

”How’s the situation?” Du Kai Bo asked upon entering.

Mei Siyuan briefly explained the situation before saying, ”General Zhou’s condition has been stable for over ten days without any change. The change that started this morning is very significant.”

Du Kai Bo pondered for a moment and asked Tian Qinghui, ”Doctor Tian, when was the last routine check-up on General Zhou yesterday?”

”Five-thirty in the afternoon,” Tian Qinghui replied, then added an explanation, ”It was delayed by an hour yesterday because Teacher Wu came to visit.”

Full-body checks were conducted in three time slots daily, not strictly fixed because sometimes they needed to observe drug reactions. Generally, they wouldn’t deviate more than an hour from the scheduled time.

Du Kai Bo nodded. He knew Wu Yuekai had come—he even chatted with him briefly in the corridor and inquired about the situation.

”General Zhou’s condition must have been influenced by an external substance; otherwise, such a change wouldn’t be possible,” Zhang Man said sternly.

She meant to imply to Du Kai Bo that if there were an outsider close to General Zhou, it would be negligence on the Tian Family’s part!

However, hearing Zhang Man’s words, a sudden thought struck Du Kai Bo’s mind—external intervention... Wu Yuekai...

He suddenly recalled the silhouette he saw yesterday...

”Could it be her?!!”
