I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 303: Chapter 302: In a Difficult Spot

Luo Xudong’s investigation wouldn’t be wrong. With a valid reason, Beisitian no longer felt repulsed by Tian Lei’s gaze.

Before, although she knew he didn’t have that kind of intention, his gaze always carried a kind of pampering and affection that confused her, which made her somewhat repulsed.

Now that she knew, that repulsiveness vanished completely.

Thinking of the words Luo Xudong had half-said, she intended to ask Tian Lei, but considering she had asked similar questions before and he had always avoided the point, he most likely wouldn’t tell her now either.

Due to the recent rumors, Director Sun was concerned it might affect Beisitian’s evaluation, so he deliberately postponed it, coinciding with the physical examination, using it as an excuse.

These days, the physical examination was being conducted vigorously, with the last two days left. The elderly cadres coming these two days were all incumbent with real power, and everyone had to be more cautious.

On this day, after completing the physical exam, everyone went to the canteen to eat together. Ma Xiuli went early and specially saved a spot for everyone.

However, when everyone arrived, they saw Ma Xiuli sitting there angrily, facing an old man and a young girl.

Seeing the somewhat familiar backs, a few people exchanged glances. Could those be Sun Guicai and Li Ying?

What did Sun Guicai say, that he would leave the next day, so he had the health team examine him first, even working overtime for the examination? By the time they finished his examination, it was almost no food left in the canteen, with only cold remnants.

Now, isn’t he sitting here having a meal with the flower of the literary troupe? Not leaving anymore?

Yu Shufang pouted, most disliking those who use their seniority to bully others. There were quite a few such people in the army, frequently encountered during physical exams; truly annoying!

Currently, there were no other places in the canteen, only the few spots Ma Xiuli saved, but since Sun Guicai and Li Ying took two, two people had to wait for seats.

Li Ying ’unintentionally’ looked back and saw a few people from the health team standing there, she quickly stood up, ”Sorry, we’ve taken your spot, we’ll find elsewhere right now.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Sun Guicai’s deep voice came from the side: ”Sit down and eat.”

Li Ying looked at Sun Guicai, then at several people from the health team, and immediately showed an apologetic and troubled expression.

”Grandpa Sun, isn’t this usually where the health team comrades sit? Can Nannan find you another place?”

Usually where the health team sits?

”This isn’t the first time I’ve come here, yet it’s the first time I’ve heard there’s a fixed spot reserved for anyone in the canteen!” Sun Guicai said with a calm face.

This child’s character is too good, too easy to be bullied. Now, the whole canteen is full; if they have to move halfway through their meal, where to? Have to squat and eat by the entrance with their plates?

Feeling something off in Li Ying’s words, Ma Xiuli couldn’t pinpoint it, but got more upset hearing what the old man said, wanting to stand up and argue with him.

The canteen allows seat reservation as long as it’s not on a large scale. She just laid out the tableware, yet this old man and the woman sat down right here, so shameless!

The problem was, the canteen wasn’t so crowded at that time; besides her spot, there were quite a few empty places, yet they just had to sit here.

”Seems I should ask the cooks when the canteen allowed seat reservations!” Sun Guicai snorted coldly.

Suppressing her anger, Ma Xiuli knew the reservation matter lacked reason, so after speaking a couple of sentences, she didn’t bother arguing further with Sun Guicai. The old man was too arrogant with an obvious purpose aimed at their health team!

”Sister Xiuli, let’s wait.” Beisitian said and then turned to Li Ying: ”Comrade, the canteen’s seats are not fixed. We never claimed this spot was exclusively for the health team. First come, first served, since you arrived first, you can sit here.”

After speaking, she called the others and prepared to get in line for food, planning to wait for seats after getting their meals.

In a huff, Ma Xiuli decided not to sit with them anymore, losing appetite sitting together.

”Wait a moment, did I tell you to go?” Sun Guicai looked at the girl who had just spoken. Wasn’t this the military wife called Beisitian?

”Do you still have something to say?” Beisitian asked, looking at him.

Sun Guicai disliked Beisitian’s attitude greatly, she should be respectful upon seeing him. Be it his age or rank, he far surpassed this little girl. He dedicated his life to the country, yet she spoke to him with this attitude!

”Little girl, are you donating the seat to me?” Sun Guicai narrowed his eyes and said.

After returning that day, he asked Nannan about the situation with this family member. Nannan kept saying it was her fault but refused to explain what happened. Later, he found out from those around her that Nannan was bullied at the health team.

This family member, along with the health team, mercilessly drove Nannan away, telling her not to return again.

But that Xie Yun girl didn’t speak honestly; he didn’t fully believe her. Therefore, he inquired with a young female soldier named Li Na to know the truth.

It turned out this family member thought Nannan was eyeing her husband, so they made things difficult for Nannan in every way, even falsely accusing her of wrecking a military marriage, a very serious charge!

After figuring out the situation, Sun Guicai became displeased with this family member. Obviously, she was sharp-tongued, while soft Nannan was no match for her, bound to suffer losses!

”This seat wasn’t ours to begin with, so where’s the charity in that?” Beisitian said calmly.

The rest were furious; the old man was clearly picking a fight. Offering him the seat was deemed charity, but not giving was called reserving. He always had a way with words!

Sun Guicai knew she was sharp-tongued, her words left him speechless. However, this girl looked displeasing to him, always with a calm demeanor, lacking the respect a younger generation should show to elders, moreover to an old soldier like him!

When he was dedicating his life to the country, this little girl was probably fooling around somewhere, and now she dared speak to him like that!

”Young girl, mind your attitude, know with whom you’re speaking! Indeed, morals are decaying, young people today show no respect for their elders. The country provides rations for your survival, not for you to enjoy comfort!” Sun Guicai said coldly.

The commotion here wasn’t too big nor too small, naturally catching the attention of people around, who couldn’t resist watching the scene. However, some recognized the woman being troubled by the old man!

Just then, a tall figure appeared behind her.
