Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Old Sha’s Warning, The Arrival of a Strange Pet Beast? (First Update)

Li Shu had run away.

Of course, officially, he was just going back to rest for a while. After all, he had been with Su Ping for over a week, and it was time to return home.

Su Ping felt somewhat regretful; such good help was truly hard to find.

But this was also normal. How was it easy to become a Breeder? If he hadn’t grown up with the Forest Wolves at his family’s Cultivation base and possessed a cheat-like ability, wanting to become a Breeder would have been an extremely difficult feat.

When Li Shu’s father, Li Senlin, arrived, he was extremely courteous and even wanted to give Su Ping a hefty red envelope, which Su Ping declined.

He had a good relationship with Li Shu. Since Li Shu had helped him for so many days, and even though Su Ping had also helped upgrade Luozisong’s Level and even taught it the Pinecone Bomb Skill, he had also gained what he wanted. This was already enough, which made Li Senlin quite embarrassed.

Li Shu’s departure didn’t affect Su Ping too much.

Although he now needed to answer the phone and receive customers himself, the busiest period had already passed. Those Pet Beasts confirmed for Cultivation had their deposits paid, and they had started queuing for Cultivation.

The Heart of Woods, after an initial few days of disarray, had barely managed to get on the right track.

However, Su Ping did acknowledge Li Shu’s efforts.

No wonder the kid was exhausted. A large bundle of Wolf Tobacco had been stirred for an entire afternoon. After several hours of refinement, it had transformed into this bucket of dark green liquid, emitting an indescribably foul and peculiar smell. Even Su Ping, when faced with this concoction, wanted to keep his distance.

Nevertheless, an experiment was still an experiment. Despite feeling repulsed, Su Ping carried it out.

Having witnessed the effects of this Wolf Tobacco—and not just its benefits—Su Ping naturally couldn’t use his own Forest Wolves as test subjects. Instead, he directly bought several mice for experimentation.

The result left him speechless. The mice not only showed no aversion but, being rodents, actually seemed to quite like it. However, after consuming it, there was absolutely no change or difference in them. In fact, after being fed for two days, they had even gotten fatter.

This left Su Ping somewhat speechless. However, as previously mentioned, he couldn’t use his own Forest Wolves as test subjects, nor was he extravagant enough to buy a wolf-type Pet Beast just for experimentation. The Wolf Tobacco experiment could only be temporarily shelved until conditions allowed for it to resume in the future.

After Li Shu left, Su Ping’s actions were no longer constrained.

Over the past few days, he had not only completed the Cultivation of the Pet Beast Forest Wolves, resulting in 10,000,000 credited to his account, but after deducting taxes, he was left with a hefty sum of nearly 9,000,000.

It was just a pity that such a large sum of money could no longer stir Su Ping’s heartstrings. The absurd 300,000,000 price tag for a single piece of laboratory equipment that Vice President Liu had mentioned made Su Ping realize that in the field of Pet Beast Cultivation, this amount of money truly wasn’t much.

Meanwhile, aside from Woodhead, all twenty-five Forest Wolves, plus his own Xiao Qing, making a total of twenty-six Forest Wolves, had completed the Heart of Woods Cultivation process!

What did this entail? The implications were self-evident.

Although they had all completed their Skill development simultaneously, Su Ping knew that this was just the beginning.

The unique cooperative combat style of the Pet Beasts belonging to the Zhang Wen and Zhang Wu brothers had given Su Ping a new direction and method for Cultivation. The combat of his Contracted Beasts was one aspect. However, if possible, he also wanted to train these Pet Beasts in group combat.

Generally, a Beast Tamer’s primary focus was on their Contracted Beasts. The reason was simple: ordinary Beast Tamers couldn’t carry too many wild Pet Beasts.

But Su Ping was different. He possessed the Pet Beast Home Talent. As long as the Pet Beasts were not a higher Level than himself and could fit into his Beast Taming Space, he could take them with him. Under such circumstances, coupled with the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas enhancing his affinity with and control over these Pet Beasts, he could definitely try to forge a different path as a Beast Tamer.

However, training methods for group combat were relatively difficult. Su Ping had been actively searching for training methods during this period.

What was slightly regrettable was that the Zhang Wen and Zhang Wu brothers hadn’t come by since that one time. He wasn’t sure if their family disapproved of such expensive training or if there was some other reason, which Su Ping found somewhat disappointing. If possible, he truly wanted to learn.

However, right now, he faced another matter.

「Nighttime.」

Su Ping had never found the time to visit the Lingxi River area behind the forest before.

Gone were the sunny days with their lush green grass and the healing beauty of the flowing river. Instead, it felt rather eerie. The swaying of the trees and grass created an illusion of ghostly shadows stirring.

Su Ping stood there, with Old Sha and Xiao Qing by his side.

”Is it here?” Su Ping asked softly.

Old Sha, extremely vigilant, scanned the surroundings. Hearing his young master’s question, he didn’t make a sound but simply nodded.

Over the past few days, the pack’s Forest Wolves had made leaps and bounds in their training, and their Skills had improved quite rapidly. In fact, the Vine Strangling Skill, one of the primary Cultivation Skills, of the Elite Ninth Order Forest Wolf had even advanced to the Mastery Level. The effects of Telepathic Communication allowed Su Ping to address the Forest Wolves’ needs more precisely, which was a great boon for their Cultivation.

However, he had also come to understand Old Sha’s warnings better. Previously, Old Sha had been highly vigilant regarding the Lingxi River. Initially, Su Ping thought Old Sha’s senses might be mistaken or that occasionally some Advanced Level aquatic Pet Beasts had managed to break through from the Lingxi River and evolve. Such aquatic Pet Beasts, even if they lurked, rarely attacked creatures on the shore.

However, after acquiring the Telepathic Communication Talent, Su Ping could more directly understand and interpret Old Sha’s feedback. Only then did he grasp what Old Sha truly meant.

Over the past few nights, a strange presence had appeared on the banks of the Lingxi River, right in their backyard?!

Su Ping had to take this seriously. If some undetected Pet Beast had truly arrived, any trouble or disturbance it caused would be a huge problem.

However, even after waiting for a full hour, apart from getting a bit cold from the night breeze, they didn’t see so much as a hair. Even Old Sha, facing Su Ping’s skeptical gaze, visibly showed some embarrassment and surprise—this old wolf was nearly twice Su Ping’s age.

Yet, just at that moment, suddenly, in the distance of the Lingxi River, a ripple, almost imperceptible to the naked eye, appeared.

The next moment, a tiny figure emerged from it.

Su Ping hadn’t even clearly seen what it was, only catching a glimpse of something snow-white in the moonlight, when Old Sha had already lunged forward!
