Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 13 - 13: Methods of Cultivating Poison Type Mutations?

In the medical room, the fully recovered Little Ones excitedly watched the Magic Potion vessel in Su Pingʼs hand.

It recognized it. This was the thing that, after their king had consumed it, had instantly made him much stronger. The master of their king, standing right before it, truly hadnʼt deceived it!

Clearly, Little Ones was not as finicky or intelligent as Old Sha. Or rather, Little Ones, stimulated by Xiao Qingʼs contemptuous gaze earlier that morning, now craved power above all else.

Su Ping didnʼt hesitate. He took out the gel-like Heart of Woods Magic Potion and tossed the medicinal-scented, jelly-like substance directly into Little Onesʼ mouth.

Su Ping had to admit he did have some ulterior motives; otherwise, he wouldnʼt have let Little Ones try out the effects first. And the result did not disappoint him.

A low growl sounded, and the scene from that morning reoccurred. However, unlike Old Shaʼs brief transformation, Little Onesʼ current change lasted for a full ten minutes.

Emerald starlight scattered, adhering to Little Onesʼ body.

Even Xiao Qing, looking at this previously insignificant rival, showed a trace of solemnity in its small eyes. It sensed a dangerous aura from this opponent it had once easily defeated!

Indeed, that was the case. The Wood Element Energy in the air began to condense. However, instead of Vine Strangling tendrils appearing, the slowly opening eyes of Little Ones revealed that its body had grown slightly larger.

This is... another Racial Skill of the Forest Wolf, Accelerated Growth?

The next moment, before Su Ping could get a good look at Little Onesʼ changes, the Forest Wolf Catalog provided feedback and a prompt:

[Associated Pet Beast successfully acquired Skills: Heart of Woods, Accelerated Growth. Level promoted. Catalogue Experience +10 points!]

The experience gained this time was much less. It was unclear if this was because Little Onesʼ Level was too low, or if the repeated use of the Magic Potion had caused the Forest Wolf data acquired by the Catalog to become repetitive.

However, Su Ping wasnʼt in the mood to care about that at the moment. His Eye of Truth looked at Little Ones as it was now:

[Forest Wolf (Wild)]

[Current Level: Ordinary Sixth Stage]

[Racial Potential: Elite Tenth Stage]

[Skills: Sunlight Absorption (Beginner), Accelerated Growth (Beginner), Heart of Woods (Beginner)]

Just as expected!

A look of joy appeared in Su Pingʼs eyes. Little Onesʼ Level had also advanced, and the degree of promotion was so significant that he hadnʼt even imagined that a single bottle of this Heart of Woods Magic Potion could directly elevate Little Ones from Ordinary Third Rank to Ordinary Sixth Stage.

As expected of a Magic Potion formula perfected by the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas, and as expected of a Magic Potion made by me, the future Breeding Master! Su Ping was very satisfied and pleased with himself.

Before he could properly indulge in his self-satisfaction, his sleeve was tugged.

As expected, it was Xiao Qing. Seeing this rival it hadnʼt taken seriously—whose strength and aura had surpassed its own in such a short time—Xiao Qing became restless.

”WHINE... WHINE...”

Looking at his own rather unimpressive Pet Beast, Su Ping laughed, ”Donʼt worry, would you ever be shortchanged?”

He opened the vial of Heart of Woods Magic Potion he had prepared. Xiao Qing, facing the Magic Potion whose pungent odor Old Sha had desperately avoided, swallowed it in one gulp.

The same faint green glow lit up, enveloping Xiao Qing in twinkling points of light. However, Su Pingʼs breathing became somewhat rapid at this moment.

It would be a lie to say I wasnʼt nervous; otherwise, I wouldnʼt have chosen to let Little Ones have a small taste first.

But although Little Ones had succeeded, Xiao Qing was not like the other Forest Wolves. Xiao Qingʼs Poison Type bloodline mutation already set it distinctly apart from them. The Heart of Woods Magic Potion was primarily Wood Attribute, and whether it would cause any other reactions in Xiao Qing was still unknown.

Su Ping had long prepared for stomach lavage and had medical treatments ready in the medical room. He watched unblinkingly as Xiao Qing slowly began to change.

The same verdant specks of light covered Xiao Qingʼs body. Waves of power radiated from it.

Time ticked by. Beads of sweat began to form on Su Pingʼs forehead. Little Ones had taken ten minutes to consume and digest the Magic Potion. However, fifteen minutes had now passed for Xiao Qing. Yet, the verdant light spots on Xiao Qing not only showed no signs of fading, but their color gradually deepened. The original emerald green transformed into a darker, forest green. It somewhat resembled the original color of the Heart of Woods Magic Potion.

Su Ping grew restless. He kept his Eye of Truth almost constantly active, his gaze firmly locked on Xiao Qing. However, even the Eye of Truth could not completely analyze Xiao Qingʼs current condition. Fortunately, the life-monitoring instrument to the side showed Xiao Qingʼs vital signs remained perfectly stable, allowing Su Ping to breathe a small sigh of relief.

Finally, just when Su Ping was growing quite impatient, the dark green specks of light seemed to suddenly complete their settling. A howl, neither loud nor retaining the immature, whimpering quality of its previous cries, resounded in the medical room.

The light spots disappeared, and Xiao Qing reappeared before Su Ping.

However, this time, before Su Ping could properly use the Eye of Truth to examine Xiao Qingʼs changes, the Forest Wolf Catalog was a step ahead, providing the most unique feedback!

[Successfully enabled the associated Pet Beast to acquire the Skill: Mutated Poison Wood Heart. Its Level increased, Racial Limit raised. Catalogue Experience +50 points!]

[Preliminary analysis of the Poison Type Mutation in the Forest Wolf has been conducted. Consume 50,000 Experience Points from this Catalog to forcibly analyze the cause of the Forest Wolfʼs poison bloodline mutation and obtain the Cultivation method for this Mutation.]

Feeling the feedback from the Forest Wolf Catalog within the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas, even Su Ping blinked, momentarily unable to process it all.

Isnʼt this a bit too much information to take in at once?

However, previous feedback from the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas had mentioned it was possible to analyze the cause of Xiao Qingʼs mutation. There was a certain chance of deciphering the bloodline mutationʼs cause by spending daily time with Xiao Qing to gain Experience Points. Su Ping hadnʼt expected this day to arrive so quickly.

Although the glaring cost of 50,000 Catalogue Experience Points is quite steep, itʼs still something to look forward to, isnʼt it? If I could master the Cultivation method for the Forest Wolfʼs Poison Type Mutation, then my future expertise in the Cultivation and research regarding the Heart of Woods might truly make me, as my unreliable old father said, easily number one in Jianghai Province, or even the entire Dragon Nation!

However, 50,000 Experience Points are still a long way off.

Suppressing his excitement, Su Ping was even more eager to observe Xiao Qingʼs changes after consuming the Heart of Woods Magic Potion.
