Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Proficient Level Poison Vine Strangulation! Xiao Qing’s Improvement! (Three Updates)

Hmm?

Su Ping raised his eyebrows as he felt the feedback from the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas regarding Xiao Qing’s recent changes. Although he hadn’t seen any progress in Xiao Qing through the Eye of Truth, the display from the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas indicated Xiao Qing’s condition.

Not to mention anything else, just the fact that the Experience Points needed to analyze Xiao Qing’s bloodline mutation had decreased is already tremendous news. Even though it’s just a reduction of a mere ten Experience Points, isn’t this just the beginning? Could it be that as long as I correspondingly enhance Xiao Qing’s Poison Type bloodline and help it ingest Poison System Resources, the Experience Points required for analysis will continue to decrease? Compared to the Poison System Resources that can be purchased with money, the Experience Points from the Catalog are undoubtedly more precious.

Over the past few days, even though no other Forest Wolf had reached the required affinity for a significant rise in Catalog Experience, through daily training and the continuous improvement of these little ones, Su Ping’s Forest Wolf Catalog Experience had risen to over one hundred, nearing two hundred. Although it was still far from two thousand, Experience Points were not solely used for upgrading the Catalog.

What I’m concerned about is perfecting the other Cultivation methods and the Evolution method for the ’Wanmu Wolf’ that Sun Chaoju is soon to lose to me. That incomplete Evolution Cultivation method will undoubtedly require a large consumption of Experience Points to supplement. I need to be prepared. Su Ping resolved.

After patting Xiao Qing’s head, which was still somewhat confused, Su Ping began to worry anew.

Mutated Pet Beasts were indeed excellent, possessing Abilities and development different from other Pet Beasts; Xiao Qing, for instance, could break through its race limit. But there was a downside: the uncertainty in their future Evolution.

It’s true that Breeders can change some materials during the Cultivation and Evolution process based on the mutant Attributes. However, such Breeders are exceedingly rare and valuable. My current status is entirely due to the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas. When it comes to Cultivation and Evolution, I’m still a beginner.

With this in mind, Su Ping’s gaze hardened.

The power of the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas is undisputed. Perhaps, as the Catalog improves, it might be possible to develop a perfect Evolutionary Form for Mutated Pet Beasts like Xiao Qing. But for now, that isn’t possible. What I need to do now is improve my Breeder ability and truly become an elite Breeder! That way, I can find the perfect method for Xiao Qing’s future Evolution!

With that thought, Su Ping’s spirits lifted suddenly.

Time waits for no one. However, these things can’t be accomplished overnight.

For now, the most important thing was to take Xiao Qing for a test.

He led Xiao Qing, who had regained its spirit, out of the woods. This time, Su Ping didn’t pick one of the Little Ones as a test subject but directly found a Forest Wolf that had reached the Elite Tier.

”San Ha, come here!”

Su Ping was casual with naming these Forest Wolves. As long as they could be recognized, it was barely acceptable.

The Forest Wolf called San Ha trotted over proudly and energetically. Then, under the resentful gaze of San Ha, Xiao Qing’s purple vines swiftly wrapped around it. The serrated barbs painfully pierced San Ha’s unresisting fur.

Su Ping naturally understood his own Pet Beasts better than the other Forest Wolves. Quickly, he noticed something.

Although there were no improvements in Xiao Qing’s tier, realm, or skill level, I can sense from San Ha’s reaction that the toxicity of Xiao Qing’s Poison Vine Strangulation has increased. As for how much and to what extent, more extensive testing will be required to determine that.

However, just as he was about to stop the fight, the purple vines around San Ha suddenly darkened dramatically, and their texture acquired an indescribably different feel. What was previously as thin as a finger, in a split second, thickened to the girth of a baby’s wrist!

”AROOO!”

San Ha, who had only been somewhat resentful and discontented, suddenly let out a scream of agony. Clearly, while the Poison Vine Strangulation had caused it some discomfort, this sudden change brought an indescribable pain, even a sense of threat!

Su Ping reacted instantly, his Eye of Truth locking onto Xiao Qing. Sure enough, at this moment, Xiao Qing’s Poison Vine Strangulation had unexpectedly advanced from Beginner to the Proficient Level!

Although the shared connection ability means the skill levels of my Pet Beasts increase rapidly, Xiao Qing’s improvement is indeed beyond my expectations. Currently, Xiao Qing hasn’t even fully mastered all of its Racial Skills, with Accelerated Growth still to be comprehended, yet Sunlight Absorption and Poison Vine Strangulation have already reached the Proficient Level. Of course, this is also due to Xiao Qing’s outstanding innate Talent.

At the same time, I’ve also confirmed one thing: the ’Vine Strangling’ practiced by the Forest Wolves can be shared and utilized alongside Xiao Qing’s ’Poison Vine Strangulation’. Apart from recently comprehending Self-Healing, what’s left to learn is Heart of the Poison Wood. However, this ability is a semi-passive skill, and currently, with only Woodhead, Old Sha, Little One, and Xiao Qing linked together, the shared training effect is relatively average. Of course, that problem is no longer an issue now! All the materials I bought for the Heart of Woods Magic Potion were for this very moment, weren’t they? Moreover, I also want to test the other effects and uses of the Magic Potion.

Instantly, Su Ping waved his hand, instructing Xiao Qing and Woodhead to continue their prior training, one acting as the attacking party while the other focused on practicing the ’Self-Healing’ skill.

Meanwhile, he called out in a loud voice, ”Old Sha!”

”AWOO!”

Old Sha, who hadn’t heard the young master call him individually for a long time, immediately perked up his ears like the most loyal of butlers, stiffening his neck in anticipation of the young master’s command.

”Come on, it’s time to pull weeds!”

Instantly, Old Sha’s perked ears drooped.

”AWOOO...”

His voice became listless. He knew all too well what ’pulling weeds’ entailed!

Luckily, this time, aside from master and servant, there was another helper...

「Eventually, night fell.」

Li Shu, after a busy day, returned to his room. His father, Li Senlin, initiated a video call.

”Son, how is it going, learning with Su Ping? I tell you, you’ve encountered such an outstanding and formidable classmate. Study hard with him; don’t fear hardship or fatigue! It’s a rare opportunity, and his willingness to teach you is a blessing for our family. But we also can’t neglect courtesy. When I come to pick you up, I’ll bring some gifts for Su Ping. What does that little guy like...”

Watching his father’s earnest expectation, Li Shu pressed his lips together.

He didn’t know how to break it to his dad.

Even at this moment, Li Shu’s eyes were filled with deep confusion.

A Breeder, an Intermediate Level Breeder registered with the Breeder Association, was, by his father’s description and his own understanding, a truly respected person. In his imagination, such a Breeder’s day should revolve around Pet Beasts, casually instructing them so they would learn various amazing Skills, improving at speeds countless times faster than those under the care of Beast Tamers—talents admired by many. But today, after a day at Heart of Woods, he understood Su Ping’s routine all too well. What had he done today, tagging along with Su Ping? Or rather, from his perspective, what had Su Ping done all day? To put it simply: scooping poop, cutting grass, watching Pet Beasts spar. Is this what a Breeder’s day really is? How astonishing and disillusioning.
