Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Pet Beast Battle, Zhou Shuchen’s Challenge! (First one, please vote)

Previously, Su Ping wasn’t sure whether Yun Tian’s Pet Beast Combat Resort would be profitable. But upon seeing numerous Beast Tamers constantly coming in and out of the vast venue, he realized his vision had been too narrow. My perspective was too limited.

All business involving Pet Beasts is extremely expensive. The same applies to charging for Pet Beast battles.

Fighting with friends naturally doesn’t incur extra costs. Yun Tian even waives these basic arena usage fees, as long as no significant damage is caused.

However, after a battle, treatments and the recovery of strength and energy are always necessary, aren’t they? Otherwise, how could anyone enjoy themselves to the fullest?

This is where the major expenses come into play. If one chooses to practice with Pet Beasts provided by Yun Tian, it costs even more.

Even for combat, if one wishes to fight to their heart’s content, spending several thousand to tens of thousands in a day is quite normal.

Pet Beasts represent the largest consumer group in this world.

This is also normal, as a Beast Tamer’s main combat power relies on their Pet Beasts. These pets are key to their personal advancement to transcendent power and social mobility. If they were so easy to obtain, it would indeed be unreasonable.

And this vast venue is just one of the combat training facilities in Yun Tian’s resort. Even so, this facility includes arena battles, virtual simulation fights, open-air combat, and various simulated terrain battles.

No wonder business is booming; Yun Tian has really invested heavily.

Looking at all this, Su Ping was brimming with enthusiasm. However, he still followed them to a separate training ground.

This was an open-air training area, and also the territory where Su Ping had settled his Forest Wolves. Even if it was a rental arrangement, not all of his Forest Wolves would be chosen to leave. Su Ping needed a space where he could train while waiting for battles.

Qin Xiaoxue also watched Su Ping with great interest as he stood before the Forest Wolves. She was genuinely intrigued by him and even more curious about how he trained his Pet Beasts.

Just then, her phone rang. Qin Xiaoxue’s eyebrows immediately furrowed. After a short while, she said to Su Ping, ”Su Ping, I have some business in Linzhou City. I’ll be back soon!”

Su Ping didn’t mind and nodded.

Meanwhile, Li Shu, who had watched Qin Xiaoxue leave, finally breathed a sigh of relief. He then rushed over to Su Ping, winking and nudging him. ”Bro Ping, Brother Ping, foster dad, when will you pass on your unparalleled techniques to me?”

”What unparalleled techniques?”

”Your secrets to wooing women, of course!” Li Shu was almost jumping up and down. ”No wonder you weren’t interested in Yin Yin, even though she clearly likes you! Turns out you already knew such a top-tier beauty!”

Su Ping looked at him skeptically. We’ve barely interacted, or perhaps that earlier display wasn’t meant for him. Otherwise, Zhou Shuchen and the previously mentioned Sun Chaoju would serve as examples.

”Besides, when has Yin Yin ever been interested in me? Stop spreading such nonsense...”

Before Su Ping could finish, a voice came from behind him, ”Exactly! Li Shu, stop spreading rumors!”

Li Shu turned his head. Sure enough, Zhou Shuchen and the other students, who had just paid the deposit, were approaching. Among them was Yin Yin, whose face seemed to turn a little red, apparently having overheard the conversation.

However, the earlier scene had clearly subdued the increasingly haughty class monitor, Zhou Shuchen. He seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when he didn’t see Qin Xiaoxue.

Zhou Shuchen glared hatefully at Su Ping.

Initially, he had some reservations about Su Ping but hadn’t created any overt conflicts. However, after graduation, both he and Su Ping were approached by Zhang Guowei, who saw potential in them. He had joyfully accepted Zhang Guowei’s recommendation and even convinced his parents to spend all their savings on a down payment for a Commander Level Pet Beast, the Crimson Fang Tiger. Although he also signed a contract with the Fire King Company and took out a loan of several million, he believed it was all worth it. It was all worth it for a superior future, for becoming a powerful Beast Tamer, and for making his parents proud so they could live a good life. What’s a little hardship now?

However, this guy actually refused Director Zhang’s kindness? Is it just because his family has some money? What’s so great about Su Ping? His first contracted Pet Beast was just a Forest Wolf. Although the Forest Wolf is an Elite Peak level Pet Beast, it still falls far short compared to the Crimson Fang Tiger. He had better options, yet he chose to contract a Forest Wolf. Isn’t that willingly degrading himself? Moreover, he actually chose to give up the better development opportunities in Linzhou City to come here to the suburbs and inherit this Beast Tamer base. In his eyes, Su Ping was simply unwilling to strive for better, preferring to coast on his family’s wealth—a degenerate! How could such a person compare to someone like him, who struggles against fate with effort? Thinking of his own future rise, he would sometimes be so moved by his own dedication that he wanted to cry.

And Su Ping? Compared to his own destined future as a powerful Beast Tamer, what was Su Ping? What was so great about him? Aside from the title deed for this Heart of Woods Forest Wolf breeding base, the facilities worth tens of millions, the resources, and these dozens of Forest Wolves also valued at over ten million—what else does he have?! He can only live out the rest of his predictable, tedious life.

And what about him, Zhou Shuchen? Aside from a debt of several million, he had a bright future, vast prospects, and the heart of a strong Beast Tamer! That was enough.

However, the strong unsheathe their swords against the stronger, while the weak throw their fists at the weaker.

Therefore, Zhou Shuchen didn’t dare bare his teeth at Qin Xiaoxue, who could summon the Life Ancient Tree. But after she left, his gaze towards Su Ping turned even more resentful.

Su Ping really didn’t want to bother with this guy. After a glance, he turned to Yin Yin in the crowd and said with a frank smile, ”Yin Yin, sorry about that. Li Shu is just like that; don’t take offense to his loose tongue.”

As the recognized school belle of No. 6 High, Yin Yin’s looks naturally needed no compliment. It was just a bit of a pity that her figure was quite flat.

Meeting Su Ping’s smile, Yin Yin also smiled faintly. ”It’s fine. Besides, he wasn’t wrong.”

”OOOH...”

At her response, Yin Yin’s face turned slightly red, and the surrounding classmates erupted in a chorus of teasing. Li Shu even let out a few whoops.

This was probably the nature of youth.

However, Su Ping knew that Yin Yin’s true thoughts might be different. Having been classmates for years, he understood this school belle very well. She was quite mature, different from other young girls, and always knew exactly what she wanted. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have become the widely recognized school belle of No. 6 High. She was like Zhou Shuchen, not content with being ordinary, only her thoughts ran deeper. She wouldn’t act like Zhou Shuchen, getting carried away by a little success.

However, Su Ping didn’t care. After all, once they graduated, they would belong to different worlds. Though, in truth, he did quite admire this school belle.

However, while Su Ping didn’t care, someone else clearly did. Which young man didn’t admire beauty? Yin Yin’s good looks were one thing, but the title of ”school belle” was an even greater stimulant for the male students.

Previously, Zhou Shuchen hadn’t thought about it, but now, things were obviously different.

Hearing the teasing around him, Zhou Shuchen clenched his fists. He had come here believing he should be the center of attention! Now, this guy had stolen all the attention, just like back in school. But now, he finally had the means to fight back.

So, Zhou Shuchen leaped into the center of the open-air training battlefield and shouted, ”We’re here to train our Pet Beasts for battle, not to chitchat about romance! It’s one thing to waste our own time, but let’s not delay Director Zhang and Brother Gold!”

As he spoke, everyone indeed turned their gaze towards him. Meeting everyone’s gaze, he then looked at Su Ping. ”Su Ping, how about we have a match?”
