Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 18 - 18 Catalog Upgrade! Forest Wolf LV2!

”Uncle Guan, Iʼve really been quite busy these past few days. In a couple of days, Iʼll definitely come by personally,” Su Ping said helplessly in the reception room to an even more helpless Manager Guan.

”Xiao Ping, look at this. How many days has it been? Itʼs summer vacation now, and aside from students like you graduating, quite a few Beast Tamers from various places have also returned to Linzhou. Business has been good lately, and weʼre really running short of Low-level Pet Beasts. How about this? Iʼll take the initiative and increase the previous price by twenty percent. Howʼs that for a deal?”

If this had been before, Manager Guanʼs offer would have really tempted Su Ping. After all, aside from the money, it would also allow his Pet Beasts to gain real battle experience, which was beneficial no matter what.

But these days, he simply didnʼt have the time. He had devoted all his energy to Woodhead.

This was, after all, a deal worth several million.

How much could leasing Pet Beasts possibly earn him?

Seeing Su Pingʼs steadfast attitude, Manager Guan felt helpless.

Was he really here for something as trivial as leasing Pet Beasts? Tianyun Groupʼs influence in Jianghai Province was significant. Leasing some Low-level Pet Beasts shouldnʼt be a problem, right? The reason he was maintaining this relationship with Su Ping was to butter him up for the subsequent purchase of this land deed.Alas, this kid seemed to be more troublesome than Su Anyong.

Manager Guan had a premonition that it would be quite difficult for his companyʼs chairman to achieve his goal smoothly.
Shaking his head, Manager Guan could only leave in resignation.

However, just as he stepped out of the Heart of Woods, Manager Guan saw a woman wearing sunglasses also coming in. Manager Guan nodded in recognition, realizing it was a guest who had been staying at their place these past few days, and he didnʼt think much of it.

The person who had arrived was none other than Qin Xiaoxue.

Qin Xiaoxue, despite her carefree personality, was not actually foolish. To leave her Pet Beast so far away, she, as the owner, wouldnʼt be able to respond in time if something happened. Besides, it was merely a matter of a few days.

And it must be said that the rural area around Lingxi River, although not as convenient as the city center, possessed a kind of bucolic beauty thatʼs hard to come by.

”I didnʼt expect your small patch of land to be so in demand, is it?” Qin Xiaoxue said to Su Ping with a laugh.

Indeed, Qin Xiaoxue had been visiting frequently these past few days. Although she would only see Woodhead once a day, strictly adhering to the requirements, she spent quite a long time lingering in the Heart of Woods. Su Ping had grown somewhat familiar with this mysterious young lady of esteemed background. However, today he really wasnʼt in the mood to entertain her properly.

The reason was simple: in the days he spent on Cultivation, aside from his time with Woodhead, Su Ping had not been idle with the other Forest Wolves at all!

Since the moment Su Ping had activated the Forest Wolf Catalog and taken full control over the Heart of Woods, so many days had passed. And as of today, all of his Forest Wolves, except for one last one, had reached the required intimacy level and had been added to the Forest Wolf Catalog. At the same time, the Experience Points on the Forest Wolf Catalog were at 499/500!

In other words, if he spent one more day with these Forest Wolves, the Forest Wolf Catalog would be able to level up to LV2! Alternatively, if that last one—the highest-Level one apart from Old Sha, the one that had reached Elite Ninth Order—managed to achieve the required intimacy Level, then Su Ping, who had been longing and yearning for this day, could finally fulfill his desires.

At this moment, how could he possibly care about Qin Xiaoxue? If it werenʼt for the fact that heʼd known Uncle Guan for many years, that Uncle Guan had a good relationship with his father, and that he needed to give him some face, Su Ping wouldnʼt have even spared ten minutes to deal with him.

”Iʼm busy today. Just take a look at your Woodhead and then head back,” Su Ping said, waving his hand dismissively. Then, without paying further attention to Qin Xiaoxue, he dashed toward the forest.

Looking doubtfully at Su Ping, who seemed even more hurried than herself, Qin Xiaoxue wasnʼt bothered. She glanced at Woodhead through the monitor. These past few days, Woodhead had been frolicking in the woods with the Wolf Pack, showing no intention of training—just eating and drinking. Not only had it not been mistreated, but Qin Xiaoxue even felt the little fellow might have gained a few pounds. Perhaps it was just her imagination?

Shaking her head, Qin Xiaoxue didnʼt bother further. She had previously signed a contract with Su Ping, so if he failed to fulfill it, it was his loss. All she needed to ensure was that her Woodhead hadnʼt sustained any injuries.

With Su Ping gone, there was clearly no point for her to stay, so after looking for a while, she went back to the adjacent Yuntian Resort. Compared to Su Pingʼs Beast Taming base, the resortʼs environment and scenery were much nicer. When she had nothing better to do, Qin Xiaoxue indeed liked to take a few extra rounds there.

However, she had never visited the main building—a huge structure occupying a large area, which also housed the main Pet Beast battle arena. Today, with nothing particular to do, Qin Xiaoxue casually walked towards it.

In the main buildingʼs arena, there were public battle spaces where Beast Tamers of various strengths were engaging in Pet Beast battles. However, to Qin Xiaoxue, they all seemed rather amateurish. Most were either graduates who hadnʼt undergone systematic Beast Taming and combat training or prospective Beast Tamers who had not passed professional assessments. Compared to the battles at the Magic Capital Advanced Beast-Taming Academy, these were far inferior.

Qin Xiaoxue had no interest in such fights.

However, just as she was about to leave the building, she paused, her peripheral vision, behind sunglasses, glancing towards the side. The middle-aged man who had just been with Su Ping was now servilely following a woman. The woman was exceptionally beautiful, and even Qin Xiaoxue had to admit that she exuded something known as feminine charm. Most importantly, the womanʼs aura... Qin Xiaoxue thought for a moment and found a comparison: it was somewhat similar to the aura her father exuded.

Seemingly noticing Qin Xiaoxueʼs scrutiny, the woman turned her head and glanced over, then didnʼt give it another thought. Qin Xiaoxue, however, furrowed her brows tighter after seeing the womanʼs face; she suddenly felt a sense of familiarity.

But before she could take a closer look, the woman entered a private elevator. After the woman went in, the middle-aged man, standing at the elevator entrance, whispered, ”Chairwoman, Su Ping still disagrees and shows no intention of relenting.”

As the elevator closed, the voice disappeared as well.

Qin Xiaoxue stopped in her tracks and removed her sunglasses, her deep black eyebrows furrowing even tighter.

Chairwoman? Did that manʼs visit to Su Ping have something to do with her?And that woman... she looked so familiar!

Remembering the manʼs words, Qin Xiaoxue pondered for a moment before taking out her phone.

Meanwhile, Su Ping, obviously oblivious to these events and in no mind to concern himself with them, rode atop the last Elite Ninth Order Forest Wolf, affectionately feeding it the canned meat he had made according to the ”Breeding Manual”—a favorite of the Forest Wolves.

Finally, under Su Pingʼs meticulous care, a message appeared in the Forest Wolf Catalog of the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas in his mind:

[Adult Forest Wolf discovered, intimacy level meets requirements, Catalog Experience +15!]

[This Forest Wolf is an adult. Subsequently, each day spent with it will yield +1 Catalog Experience for the Forest Wolf Catalog!]

[Forest Wolf Catalog Experience Points: 514/500! Experience Points meet the Catalog upgrade requirements. Would you like to upgrade?]
