Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Xiao Qing’s Poison Type Cultivation! (Part 2)

”Thank you for choosing Fei Kong Express Logistics. Courier Wang Hao, employee ID 95,841, and his Pet Beast courier, Gaga, greet you.”

”Gaga!”

”Please check your delivery items. If everything is correct, you may sign for it.”

After inspecting the materials from the Giant Feathered Sparrow named Gaga and from the courier’s Space Ring, Su Ping verified that everything was correct before signing for the package.

Inside were less than twenty sets of materials for the Heart of Woods Magic Potion, as well as the four portions of Poison System Resources.

It cost Su Ping over four million, all the money he had earned from Qin Xiaoxue.

Li Shu was still fertilizing the Luozisong pines, so Su Ping didn’t ask for his help.

When dealing with goods worth millions, one could never be too careful.

Besides, even if Su Ping had asked Li Shu, knowing what these materials were, Li Shu would likely have been reluctant to handle them.

Su Ping took Xiao Qing, who was still in training, and immediately headed to the medical room without stopping.

He could hardly wait.

Compared to crafting new Magic Potions to cultivate other Forest Wolves to obtain the Heart of Woods skill, his own soul-bonded Pet Beast was naturally more important.

Moreover, Su Ping had been eager to test Xiao Qing’s tolerance for these Poison System Resources.

”AWOOO!”

Xiao Qing was quite excited too.

The little creature could sense its master’s excitement; moreover, it was here that it had comprehended the Heart of the Poison Wood.

This place held special significance in Xiao Qing’s heart.

After turning on the Life Detector to monitor Xiao Qing’s vital signs, Su Ping put on a gas mask before carefully opening a small wooden box he had brought.

Although these Poison System Resources had been processed, Beast Tamers were more vulnerable than Pet Beasts at this stage. It was always better to err on the side of caution.

It was a special type of plant.

With dark green branches and leaves, it had three dark purple flowers.

The flowers were still vibrant, yet they emitted no pungent smell. Instead, they possessed an indescribable, seductive beauty.

Yet, such a beautiful plant had an unfitting name: Wolfsbane Aconite.

The name was ferocious, but it was actually the cheapest among the three Poison System Resources he had purchased.

It was a purely plant-based Poison System Resource, unrelated to Poison Type Pet Beasts.

Therefore, it had relatively low value and could only be helpful to some common Poison Type Pet Beasts.

But that was enough.

Xiao Qing’s reaction confirmed that Su Ping’s decision was correct.

Upon seeing the plant, Xiao Qing’s deep eyes fixed on it, its entire attention captured.

As a carnivore, its desire for such a plant was a call from its bloodline and genes.

However, Pet Beasts do not know self-restraint, but Su Ping did. He put on specially-made gloves. He wouldn’t give the entire Wolfsbane Aconite directly to Xiao Qing to swallow.

Instead, he plucked a single purple flower and handed it to Xiao Qing.

Xiao Qing swallowed it in one bite. Without even chewing, it gulped down the flower.

Su Ping was somewhat speechless.

Then, the Pet Beast and its master just stared at each other. After a full ten minutes, watching his master’s eyes behind the gas mask turn almost red from staring, Xiao Qing tilted its head and uttered, ”AWOOO.”

Su Ping’s eyelid twitched. He quickly glanced at the Life Detector; all readings were normal, and not even its heart rate or pulse had risen in the slightest.

Not strong enough?

Clearly, the ingestion of this Wolfsbane Aconite seemed to have no significant effect on Xiao Qing.

So, Su Ping picked another flower from the Wolfsbane Aconite.

It was the same swift process, the same familiar GULP, and the same familiar ten minutes of a staring contest.

”AWOOO...”

Xiao Qing opened its mouth again, sticking out its tongue and licking its lips; the implication was clear.

Looking at the remaining flower and leaves of the Wolfsbane Aconite, Su Ping fell into doubt.

Could I have actually bought a fake?

That made no sense—the Beast Master Association cracked down hard on such things!

However, Su Ping soon narrowed his eyes.

”Xiao Qing, open your mouth.”

”AWOO?”

Xiao Qing opened its mouth and looked doubtfully at its master. Su Ping took a closer look and, sure enough, its normally pink tongue now had some faint purple coloration. Other than that, there were no changes.

This time, Su Ping gritted his teeth, prepared an antidote and stomach lavage equipment, and then placed the entire remaining Wolfsbane Aconite in front of Xiao Qing.

GULP.

It swallowed it in one bite.

Su Ping’s heart tensed.

Poison System Resources were not like other resources. If other resources didn’t work, they generally didn’t pose much of a life-threatening risk, but Poison System Resources were different. Su Ping even had to provide identification when purchasing these items.

Sure enough!

This time, within five minutes, Su Ping saw on the Life Detector that Xiao Qing’s pulse and heartbeat began to accelerate.

Su Ping held his breath, intently watching Xiao Qing’s condition and the Life Detector.

Xiao Qing, which had seemed spirited before, suddenly drooped, slumping onto the table. Purple, vein-like markings even surfaced on its body. However, the traces were very faint.

This purple, appearing on Xiao Qing’s originally emerald-green fur, looked particularly striking. However, these purple, vein-like markings lasted only a few minutes before disappearing again.

Afterward, Xiao Qing reopened its eyes and stood up.

Su Ping, however, furrowed his brows slightly.

He was, of course, relieved that Xiao Qing’s life was not in danger, but now, there was no improvement in its Realm or Skills. Even his guess that the Heart of the Poison Wood’s effects might improve didn’t pan out; there was no change whatsoever.

This left Su Ping slightly disappointed.

But this was also normal. After all, the Wolfsbane Aconite was the most basic of Poison System Resources and not very valuable.

And now that Xiao Qing had reached the Ordinary Sixth Stage, it would have been unreasonable for it to advance so easily. The Heart of the Poison Wood’s effect was powerful, and Xiao Qing’s mutated Poison Type bloodline was remarkable, but there was no reason for such rapid improvement.

However, just as this thought surfaced, Su Ping was surprised to find that the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas had suddenly reacted. On the Forest Wolf’s emerald-green card, beneath the log entries, a new record slowly appeared:

[The effectiveness of Poison Type cultivation for Pet Beasts with mutated Poison Type bloodlines has marginally improved; analysis requirements have been somewhat reduced.]

[Further analysis into the reasons for the Forest Wolf’s Poison Type mutation is now possible. By expending 49,990 Experience Points from this Catalog, you can forcibly determine the cause of the Forest Wolf’s Poison Type bloodline mutation and obtain the mutation cultivation method.]
