Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Have you taken the junior breeder qualification exam? (Second update for votes)

Su Ping noticed the hesitation of the Zhang Family Brothers but didn’t feel the need to explain anything.

After all, he wasn’t short on money at the moment, and once he finished cultivating Qin Xiaoxue’s Woodhead, the operating expenses for the base during this period would be more than enough.

The Pet Beast business is just like that: high costs, high profits. You might not make a sale for three years, but one good sale can sustain you for the next three.

This line of work was all about making money from powerful Beast Tamers.

Someone like Qin Xiaoxue, a top-tier wealthy woman, was precisely Su Ping’s target customer.

However, Jin Cheng seemed to have suddenly opened up. His previous reserve had completely vanished, and he chatted with Su Ping with a smile, saying, ”Speaking of which, Su Ping, if you’re considering becoming a Breeder, are you prepared for the Breeder certification exam?”

Breeder certification exam?

A strange expression briefly crossed Su Ping’s face as he glanced at Breeder Jin, but he still shook his head.

He really didn’t need to prepare. Just yesterday, someone had made him a promise.

They had agreed to let him bypass the Junior Breeder level, directly granting him an Intermediate Breeder certification.

Even though that old man had a cunning look and didn’t seem entirely reliable, Su Ping, trusting Qin Xiaoxue, had still given him some of his information.

Later on, he even learned a bit about the man’s identity.

Seeing Su Ping shake his head, Jin Cheng immediately smiled. Clearly, this was a domain he was familiar with. This Breeder, Jin Cheng, slapped Su Ping’s shoulder, exuding an air of utmost reliability as he said, ”Brother Su, how about this? I’ll send you some materials for the exam later. For the Junior Breeder certification, you must choose a field you excel in. You also need a precise understanding of various Pet Beast states and must learn how to quickly calm their emotions.

”And most importantly, based on your chosen Pet Beast specialization, you must know how to train their skills. You also need to interact with your chosen Pet Beast to meet the exam’s requirements...”

Jin Cheng rattled on and on, and Su Ping listened very attentively.

He hadn’t learned much about the actual content of the exam from his online research. He had only seen many people complaining about the Breeder certification exam. The written test was one thing, but the real challenge lay in the practical part: making close contact with the chosen Pet Beast and meeting exam requirements. These could include calming a raging Pet Beast, pleasing it, or getting it to perform skills to a specific standard. These hands-on assessments prevented many aspirants from passing the Breeder certification.

For this reason, the Breeder qualification exam took place almost every month. This was unlike the Beast Tamer exam, which occurred on such a large scale only once every three years. However, the number of people who managed to pass the Breeder exam was far fewer than for the Beast Tamer exam.

Regardless of whether Jin Cheng wanted to build a closer relationship with him or simply showcase his knowledge, learning such information was never a bad thing.

Zhou Shuchen watched Jin Cheng chattering away, a far cry from the arrogance he had displayed when they first met. The way Jin Cheng treated Su Ping was in stark contrast to how he treated him.

This contrast made Zhou Shuchen clench his fists tightly.

It’s just because his family is wealthy! If my family had such a strong financial foundation, I would surely do better than Su Ping.

Unfortunately, at this moment, he truly didn’t dare to step forward and do anything. He hadn’t even dared to continue confronting Su Ping when Li Shu had asked earlier!

That mutated Forest Wolf is simply too terrifying. Its growth rate is too fast—an Ordinary Sixth Stage mutated Forest Wolf, and a Poison Attribute mutation at that! How much would this Pet Beast be worth?

Zhou Shuchen had no concept of its value. And how many resources would it take to raise it to an Ordinary Sixth Stage during the contract period? He didn’t know. He could only attribute it all to one reason: Su Ping’s family was wealthy. Not because Su Ping himself was actually that skilled.

Thinking of this, Zhou Shuchen felt a surge of resentment. Why hadn’t he been born into such a good family? Why didn’t he have such good parents? Now, after he’d spent millions from a loan to buy the Crimson Fang Tiger, his parents were constantly nagging at home. Although they hadn’t complained to him directly, it was obvious their complaints were aimed at him. Such parents and such a household were holding back his path as a Beast Tamer!

Su Ping, standing nearby, was unaware that this small interaction had evoked such profound resentment in Class Leader Zhou. He was still listening to Jin Cheng.

He was gaining a deeper understanding of the Breeder profession, which was a very special and one of the most important occupations in this world.

A Breeder’s abilities weren’t about formulaic cultivation but involved a deep understanding of Pet Beasts, an affinity with their habits, and the various research directions that could emerge under different circumstances. The Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas could bestow upon Su Ping an unrivaled cultivation ability for the Forest Wolf, but it couldn’t directly impart foundational information and theoretical knowledge.

These things might sometimes seem useless, but as the saying goes, you only regret not knowing enough when you need the knowledge.

Watching Su Ping’s attentive demeanor, Jin Cheng nodded inwardly in approval.

Who wouldn’t want their audience to listen attentively when they speak, occasionally contributing their own insights and follow-up questions? And then, to see the understanding and admiration in their eyes after you answer those questions?

If it were just an ordinary graduate—like Zhou Shuchen and his classmates—Jin Cheng wouldn’t even bother speaking to them, even if they were willing to listen. But Su Ping, standing before him, was clearly different. Not to mention that Su Ping managed such a large Pet Beast cultivation base, possessed such a rare mutated Forest Wolf, and was friends with a female Beast Tamer who owned a Monarch Level Life Ancient Tree. All this was enough to show that Su Ping was absolutely different from those others.

Su Ping’s willingness to listen so earnestly undoubtedly satisfied Jin Cheng’s vanity immensely. With a wave of his hand, he offered, ”Here’s what we’ll do, Su Ping. I’ll give you a phone number later. It belongs to Teacher Zhao, who works at the Breeder Association. He’s an Intermediate Breeder on assignment there and occasionally oversees Breeder exams!

”When you call him, just mention I recommended you. You can subtly inquire which of this year’s Junior Breeder exams will feature Forest Wolves for assessment. That way, your chances of passing will be much higher!”

Su Ping was startled. Was there such a workaround? But upon reflection, it made sense. After all, it’s people who implement the rules, and where there are people, there can be loopholes.

However, looking at Breeder Jin, Su Ping didn’t refuse the kind gesture. He took out his phone, preparing to add the number of this so-called Teacher Zhao.

No sooner had he unlocked his phone than an incoming call appeared on the screen. It wasn’t just anyone; it was Qin Xiaoxue, who had left that morning.

After apologizing to Jin Cheng, Su Ping answered the call.

The moment he connected, Qin Xiaoxue’s voice came through from the other end: ”Su Ping, you’re still there, right? Perfect timing! Old Man Liu has come personally to deliver your documents. He’s at your door and hasn’t gone in. I’m bringing him over to find you, okay?”
