Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Wood’s Breakthrough! The Bet is Settled! (Four More)

In front of Su Ping were more than ten vessels.

Contained within these vessels were all items of an inky green hue.

Even Su Ping couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement at the sight of these more than ten bottles of Heart of Woods Magic Potion.

These items had a cost price of several million already. If calculated by profit, their total value would soar into the tens of millions.

Su Ping had never encountered such a large sum of money in his past or present life. And now, it was laid out right before his eyes.

However, Su Ping wasn’t in a hurry to administer it all to his Forest Wolves.

He wanted to perfect his understanding of cultivation. The Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas provided direct answers, but it didn’t explain the reasoning or the process to him. Now, Su Ping aimed to reverse-engineer this process and reasoning step by step, based on these answers. These Magic Potions could offer him some assistance in this endeavor.

Su Ping stored several bottles in the freezer for preservation. These would serve as his reserves and start-up capital for cultivating other Pet Beasts. He still left out more than ten bottles.

Su Ping then immediately opened two bottles, reserving them for upcoming experiments. The cost of experimenting with just these two bottles was already substantial.

Su Ping took a spoon and carefully scooped out one-tenth from one of the bottles. From the other, he directly poured out half.

This was Su Ping’s first time cultivating Pet Beasts, so he had no prior experience. However, after becoming an Intermediate Breeder and gaining some understanding of various Pet Beast Breeding Bases, he came to realize something.

Pet Beasts weren’t cultivated so easily. With individuals like Woodhead and Qin Xiaoxue, it was one thing, but what if people with ulterior motives appeared? What if they allowed their Pet Beasts to interact with his, only to steal cultivation methods and techniques through communication with the beasts? This wasn’t baseless speculation; it was a distinct possibility.

Therefore, even with a Magic Potion like Heart of Woods, it was best not to feed it all at once, as that would allow the Pet Beast to achieve instant comprehension. Instead, administering it in batches and pairing it with some unusual training would serve two purposes: it would extend the duration, making the cultivation time seem more reasonable, and it would also prevent the cultivation methods from being easily leaked.

Nevertheless, Su Ping wanted to test if administering it in batches would affect the potion’s efficacy.

He called over two Forest Wolves. Administering one-tenth of the Magic Potion to one of them directly yielded no additional effects.

Su Ping then found another Forest Wolf and gave it half of the Heart of Woods Magic Potion.

This time, there was a difference. The Forest Wolf’s body began to glow faintly, but the effect ultimately disappeared. Evidently, it had failed to achieve comprehension.

Su Ping wasn’t disheartened. So far, it seemed there was at least some effect. He could take his time experimenting over the next few days.

With that thought, Su Ping took out paper and pen and quickly began recording the changes in the Forest Wolves before him.

Li Shu, who had been taking care of the Luozisong, finally couldn’t resist asking, ”Bro Ping, what is this...?”

Su Ping glanced at him. Earlier, while Su Ping was making the Magic Potion, this fellow had been trying to bond with the Forest Wolves—a necessary step for a Junior Breeder. If possible, helping a classmate—who could be considered his only good friend—avoid a few detours while he was assisting wasn’t a big deal. However, the Heart of Woods Magic Potion represented not only the knowledge passed down through the Su Family for many years but also unimaginable wealth and temptation. Su Ping didn’t want to use such things to test people’s hearts; it was meaningless. He wasn’t the type to test others anyway.

So, he simply answered vaguely, ”It’s a special food for Forest Wolves that can accelerate their growth.”

Strictly speaking, he wasn’t lying.

Li Shu nodded without asking further and even said in agreement, ”So that’s it! I was just thinking, only Forest Wolves would like this kind of smell!”

As soon as Li Shu said this, Su Ping was momentarily stunned. A flash of insight, a peculiar idea, inexplicably crossed his mind again.

Su Ping blinked. He seemed to have suddenly understood something that wasn’t particularly profound. Why had the addition of Wolf Tobacco to his family’s Heart of Woods Magic Potion resulted in such a qualitative change? Although the perfected recipe was recreated based on the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas, the fact that adding just this one ingredient could achieve such an effect meant Wolf Tobacco’s impact was absolutely extraordinary. So, was it possible that Wolf Tobacco inherently had some effect on Forest Wolves?

Su Ping suddenly felt invigorated. The joy of Pet Beast cultivation lay in discovering a new direction, a new possibility, and then trying, experimenting, and perfecting it—this was the normal development path for a Pet Beast Breeder.

Although testing this possibility seemed somewhat inhumane to his little companions, Su Ping believed that for their master to become a truly great Breeder, they would be willing to make that small sacrifice!

At that moment, Su Ping looked towards the eagerly attentive pack of Forest Wolves, his eyes shimmering with a faint, eerie green glow.

In that instant, Su Ping seemed even more wolf-like than the pack itself.

All the wolves, including Old Sha, instinctively tucked their tails and shied away from their young master’s gaze.

However, just then, a clear whimper sounded. The source of this whimper wasn’t any of Su Ping’s Forest Wolves, but rather the most special one in the entire pack.

Woodhead!

Miss Qin’s treasured pet, now fully integrated into Su Ping’s wolf pack—a top-tier Forest Wolf.

But at this very moment, Qin Xiaoxue’s cherished pet trembled, enveloped in a gentle halo of white light.

Woodhead still had some injuries on his body. His bluish-gray fur was extremely disheveled, with traces of blood underneath. An onlooker might think Su Ping was abusing the poor creature. However, in truth, Woodhead’s injuries were the lightest compared to the other sixteen Forest Wolves in the pack.

Especially under the envelopment of that gentle white halo, the previously scabbed scars were visibly healing at an astonishing speed. This rate of recovery was comparable to that of an Elite Level professional healing-type Pet Beast.

Clearly, Woodhead was not in this state because of his injuries.

Su Ping, who was extremely familiar with Forest Wolves, immediately understood what was happening.

Sure enough, as the soft glow disappeared, the injuries on Woodhead’s body had mostly healed.

Such self-healing ability and effect certainly couldn’t be accomplished by entry-level Self-Healing, not even for Woodhead, who was a top-tier Elite Level Forest Wolf!

There was only one possibility left!

And indeed, under the observation of the Eye of Truth, Woodhead’s Skills section now showed the ’Self-Healing’ skill, with its level having evolved from Beginner to ’Proficient’!

His gamble had paid off!
