Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 37: Chapter 37 He is the Best Forest Wolf Breeder! (Four more for votes)

An Intermediate Breeder Certification?

Vice President Liu?

Su Ping?

Intermediate Breeder Certification? Vice President Liu? Su Ping? To Jin Cheng, these three terms seemed utterly unrelated, like apples and oranges.

Just ten minutes earlier, Su Ping had kindly inquired about the assessments for the Junior Breeder certification. At the same time, he didn’t even seem to know how to begin approaching the subject.

However, ten minutes later, Jin Cheng witnessed such a scene.

Ah, so that’s who this bald old man is!

He had once attended a class at the Breeder Association, and this very man had been the lecturer. He was one of the few High-Level Beastmasters in Jianghai Province and, concurrently, a specialized Breeder for wolf-type Pet Beasts.

Note, wolf-type, not just Forest Wolves. The category of wolf-type Pet Beasts included not only the Forest Wolf but also more basic ones like the Sand Wolf and Snow Wolf, among other varieties.

The fact that he could become a specialized Senior Breeder for wolf-types, needless to say, made him far more remarkable than an ordinary Senior Breeder.

So, this man was not just a Senior Breeder but also the current Vice President of the Jianghai Province Breeders Association. In Jianghai Province, describing him as ’high-ranking and powerful’ was by no means an exaggeration.

Previously, Jin Cheng had only heard him lecture some Junior Breeders, and his courses weren’t something just any Breeder could get into.

Yet now, Vice President Liu, the Senior Breeder, had appeared right here.

He appeared before Su Ping, and what did he say? He had come in person to present Su Ping with an Intermediate Breeder Certification?

Is that even reasonable?

For a moment, Jin Cheng was bewildered. I don’t know if Su Ping’s status is so significant that it could make Vice President Liu ignore the Breeder Association’s regulations and pull strings like this, or if Su Ping, this little rascal, has been feigning weakness to fool me all this time!

With a look of grievance, Jin Cheng turned his eyes towards Su Ping.

Feeling his gaze, Su Ping intuitively looked back and met Jin Cheng’s reproachful eyes.

He certainly understood why and merely smiled, turning to Vice President Liu beside him. ”Old Liu, this is Breeder Jin Cheng from the Breeder Association. Although he’s only a Junior Breeder, he has a solid grasp of theory. I’ve just had a very enlightening conversation with him.”

”Oh?”

Vice President Liu turned a beaming gaze toward an even more bewildered Jin Cheng. The latter instantly stood bolt upright, his face flushed with excitement, then, like a rigid puppet, he bowed deeply. ”Hello, Teacher Liu! I attended your course on ’The Obedience of Wolf-Type Pet Beasts and the Breeder’s Guidance towards Wolf King’ at the beginning of the year.”

Vice President Liu’s expression didn’t change. He had lectured many times. The Breeder Association regularly had Intermediate Breeders and the two Vice Presidents conduct courses for Junior Breeders. Each session was attended by several hundred, sometimes nearly a thousand people. Countless Breeders even came from other cities in Jianghai Province—how could he remember them all?

However, thanks to Su Ping’s introduction, Old Liu feigned a scrutinizing look at Jin Cheng, then nodded thoughtfully. ”I see. I do have some impression of you. Not bad.”

In the entirety of Linzhou City, how many Junior Breeders could earn such a ’not bad’ from him?

Instantly, Jin Cheng felt thrilled, as if he had just taken a stimulant, and quickly responded, ”Yes! I’ll continue to work hard!”

Vice President Liu shifted his attention from Jin Cheng back to Su Ping, continuing with a smile, ”I’ve delivered the item. Su Ping, you’re now a registered Intermediate Level Forest Wolf Specialized Breeder with the Jianghai Province Breeders Association. Your breeding base and the professional skill training information for Heart of Woods have also been recorded with the Breeder Association. This is far more effective than any advertisement. If you make money, kid, don’t forget to treat this old man to a meal! Of course, I believe in your talent and abilities. This isn’t the end for you. Keep it up.”

Su Ping also nodded. ”Thank you for your compliments and help. I will continue to work hard.”

Vice President Liu was naturally assured. ”In that case, I have some other matters to attend to, so I won’t stay with you young people any longer. However, regarding the bet you made with Xiao Sun, make sure to have me witness it when the time comes. I’m really looking forward to it!”

”Yes! Rest assured, we will definitely not forget to have you as a witness then.”

Having received a satisfactory response, Vice President Liu turned to Qin Xiaoxue, whose attention was not on him but fixed on the Xiao Qing that Su Ping hadn’t put away. ”Miss Qin, I’ll take my leave then.”

Qin Xiaoxue waved her hand impatiently, her gaze not even shifting.

Vice President Liu didn’t mind. He smiled, nodded towards Jin Cheng as well—who looked back astonished—and then finally turned to leave.

Previously, Su Ping had given him the impression of being young and brash. This time, however, Vice President Liu discovered that this young fellow also had a gentle and modest side.

Not bad, not bad at all.

However, at this moment, another person present was not feeling so lighthearted. Jin Cheng watched Su Ping, who had just opened the brown paper bag in his hands, with complex emotions.

The object taken out of the brown paper bag was none other than a certificate bearing Su Ping’s photo and a blue badge representing the Breeder Association.

Blue, in contrast to his white one, represented an Intermediate Breeder.

It was also one of Jin Cheng’s greatest dreams.

Yet, his greatest dream was now clutched in the hands of this brat before him, who was scrutinizing it while muttering discontentedly, ”That’s it? Isn’t this just made of ordinary metal? They couldn’t even bother to use some high-quality metallic resources to craft it. There’s no sense of honor or ceremony at all!”

Seeing this brat complaining even after getting a good deal, Jin Cheng almost couldn’t resist punching him.

I can’t even tell if this guy is showing off or genuinely complaining.

But the certificate and badge represented so much. So much, in fact, that he didn’t even know what to say to this young man who had just been chatting so casually with him.

Earlier, when Jin Cheng and Su Ping had been discussing Breeder matters, there weren’t many people around them. Zhou Shuchen had already resumed battling on the stage with some other classmates he was on good terms with, and Zhang Guowei hadn’t pried too much into their affairs.

So, although many had seen a bald elder approach Su Ping, not many knew exactly what had transpired, except for two people.

These two were none other than the Zhang Family Brothers, Zhang Wen and Zhang Wu, who had been waiting for their Pet Beasts to recover.

The Zhang Family Brothers, being Forest Wolf Beast Tamers themselves, could naturally sense the strength of Xiao Qing and Little One. Upon hearing that Su Ping was from Heart of Woods, the facility next door that specialized in training Forest Wolves, they had wanted to visit. However, after Jin Cheng told them Su Ping wasn’t even an ordinary Breeder, they began to have doubts.

Now, the situation had changed so quickly. The elderly man who had appeared out of nowhere had said some other confusing things. Besides, as outsiders, they hadn’t felt it was proper to get too close to listen. It left the brothers uncertain about what to do.

Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Wen approached Jin Cheng and asked quietly, ”Excuse me, Senior Breeder, is Su Ping’s breeding level any good? My brother and I are thinking of finding a training facility to improve our skills, but we haven’t decided yet.”

This question snapped Jin Cheng back to reality. He looked at the retreating figure of the young Beast Tamer, who was being led away by Qin Xiaoxue to squat and chat in front of the mutated Forest Wolf. Jin Cheng’s gaze became extremely complicated.

He recalled Vice President Liu’s words.

The Heart of Woods’ Forest Wolf skill cultivation? No wonder he could become an Intermediate Breeder! And an Intermediate Breeder who received his certification personally from President Liu, no less! I know all too well what the skills from Heart of Woods represent. If I, Jin Cheng, were the Breeder who had mastered the cultivation of the Crimson Fang Tiger’s ’Heart of Fire’ skill, I’d be revered like an ancestor at Fire King Company!

Suddenly, looking at the Zhang Family Brothers who were asking with nervous curiosity, Jin Cheng finally said gravely, ”Him? He might be the best Forest Wolf Breeder in Linzhou, or even all of Jianghai Province.”
