Chapter 36 The Infected

Chapter 36 The Infected

As soon as he walked out of the meeting room door, Lin Ye saw Nan Xiao running towards here from a distance.

”What happened?” Lin Ye reached out to stop her and asked with concern.

Nan Xiao lowered her voice, ran to his side and said, ”Someone is infected with the zombie virus!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Ye ignored the officers in the conference room and directly followed Nan Xiao’s footsteps and ran towards the area where civilians gathered.

The person who was detected to be infected with the zombie virus was a boy in his teens. He has not yet had an attack and is still in the incubation period of the virus.

However, something was amiss from the boy’s state.

His face was extremely pale, and black blood vessels spread on both sides of his cheeks.

The lips are purple-black, and the thick dark circles under the eyes are quite scary.

But even though he became like this, he was still protected by a group of adults.

The woman standing at the front seemed to be the boy’s mother, and she was staring at Nan Xiao closely at the moment, her eyes full of hostility.

Lin Ye waved to Hassan and asked him to come forward and explain to everyone the reason for arresting him, but they ignored Hassan’s words and instead protected the boy even tighter.

Seeing this situation, Lin Ye’s eyes gradually turned cold. He turned to Major Sim and a group of officers who were chasing after him, and said loudly:
”Someone is infected with the zombie virus and must be transferred out immediately, otherwise it will cause more serious consequences!”

Major Sim is a sensible person, he took a look at the boy’s condition, and immediately called the soldiers to persuade him.

However, these civilians still disagreed life and death, and even gradually gathered together, feeling like they were going to gather crowds to make trouble.

At this time, Hassan returned to Lin Ye’s side, and whispered in his ear:
”Someone told them that this has nothing to do with the virus infection, it is because there is not enough food in the base, so Erikan soldiers want to expel the civilians, the civilians of Seria!”

Wow, what a hassle!
Lin Ye stood aside, resting his forehead and sighing.

The quarreling sound was really annoying. If he hadn’t foreseen this situation in advance, he might have pulled the trigger at this time and killed a lot.

After calming down a bit, Lin Ye turned around, looked at Major Sim with the same dignified expression, and teased:
”I hope your arsenal is more tightly guarded. I don’t want to die under a stray bullet!”

Major Sim naturally understood the meaning of his words, and he had no reason to refute, because the scene in front of him was the best evidence to slap him in the face.

Five or six minutes passed, and the army and civilians were still at loggerheads.

Those tall and burly soldiers were all armed with guns, full of momentum, but the civilians in Seria became more and more reasonable.

Fortunately, under the order of the colonel, the soldiers restrained the anger in their hearts, otherwise there would be a bloody storm in the base soon.

Of course, Lin Ye never cared so much, he pushed the soldiers away and stood in front of the woman.

Then he looked at the crowd and asked:
”Are all these people around you your relatives?”

The woman shook her head in denial.

”That...is your friend?” Lin Ye asked again.

These two questions made the woman a little confused, but she still responded: ”No.”

”Oh, that’s it!” Lin Ye nodded, and suddenly pointed his gun at the woman. She took a step back, as if frightened by this action.

The officers and soldiers behind him were also surprised and asked him to put away the gun in his hand.

But Lin Ye has always been a man of reason, and convincing others with virtue is his consistent style of conduct.

He looked at the woman and said sharply:

”It’s neither a relative nor a friend. If so many people are infected with the zombie virus because of your child, what should they do, accept their fate?”

The woman held the boy behind her and begged with a trembling voice:

”My child has been here for a week, and this has never happened before, maybe this time he ate something bad, maybe he didn’t have a good rest for a while!

And from last night to now, he has not had any emergencies.

My boy, it’s really all right! ”

”Really?” Lin Ye pressed the barrel of the gun to the woman’s forehead, stared at her coldly, and asked coldly.

The woman didn’t dare to look directly into his eyes, so she could only lower her head slowly, then trembled and dared not speak any more.

Seeing this situation, Lin Ye didn’t hesitate anymore, and walked forward, ignoring everyone’s dissuasion, and abruptly dragged the infected boy out.

The boy was wearing thin long sleeves and had a five centimeter long dark brown wound on his hand.

It really didn’t look like the scars caused by the bites of zombies.

However, the way the wound healed was very strange. There was no blood scab left, and the cells and tissues did not repair themselves, but were all necrotic.

In addition to this obvious wound, the boy’s abdomen was still wrapped in gauze.

He wanted to lift off the gauze and take a closer look, but found that the skin and flesh had been removed together.

Due to the mutation of the cells around the wound, the host could not feel the pain at all, so the little boy did not show much emotion at this moment except panic.

According to the degree of mutation of the wound, he has been infected with the virus for more than 9 hours, and will completely turn into a walking corpse in 3 hours.

However, things were not that simple. Lin Ye found diamond-shaped scratches on his ribs among the bloody wounds.

Only stalkers can create this shape!
Those are extremely dangerous third-tier zombie creatures. Although they are small in size, they move quickly and attack extremely fiercely. They are very difficult to deal with!

”Where did you get hurt?”

Lin Ye grabbed the boy’s hand and asked the reason for the injury, but he didn’t answer, struggling to hide behind his mother.

Seeing this, Lin Ye shot directly into the sky. The boy covered his ears and screamed in horror.

He emphasized his tone and asked again: ”Where did you get hurt!”

The boy suffered from pain in his arm, so he could only point in one direction and said, ”The white tent at the end of the base...”

Upon hearing this, Lin Ye immediately turned to look at Major Sim.

”It’s the casualty relief tent at our base!” Major Sim responded.

Just as everyone was going there to find out, a woman in a suit and uniform rushed out of the crowd.

She grabbed Lin Ye’s tactical vest and cursed angrily when she came up:

”What are you doing? What have you done to this child?”

Lin Ye shook off the other party’s hand and asked doubtfully: ”Who is she?”

Major Sim shrugged, looking at his expression, he seemed to have encountered a stubble:

”She is from the Bright Federation and is an expatriate reporter from ABB News TV, Maria!”

”Hello, Ms. Maria, I have very important things to do now. If there is any problem, can I talk about it later?” Lin Ye said helplessly.

Maria ignored his words, but stopped in front of everyone, shouting loudly:

”He’s just a child, and he was hurt a little bit. Do you still have sympathy for treating him like this?”

Lin Ye looked at the woman in front of him in confusion. Her behavior did indeed fit her name.

In order to prevent misunderstandings, he specially checked the other party’s physical data:

【Stranger: Maria】

【Age: 32】

[Physical: 13]

【Strength: 5】

【Wisdom: 7】

[Command: 9]

[Occupation: None]

[Skills: None at the moment]

High physique, low intelligence.

Is this the ABB reporter who runs faster than anyone else and thinks slower than anyone else?

However, it also proves from another aspect that this reporter is not a silicon-based creature doing things everywhere.

In contrast, that thing is troublesome to deal with.

The reporter Maria was still spreading negative emotions, so Lin Ye had no choice but to raise his hands and back away again and again.

After all, this is not his own military base.

So, it’s none of your business, hang on high.
