Stop Fooling the Us, China Really is Doing This!

Chapter 224 What the hell is this secret? Leaking it means instant execution? The people who arrived were none other than the staff from the Spring Festival Gala production team.

They had come to Longhang Shipyard specifically to prepare for the upcoming Spring Festival Gala program.

You have to understand, the Spring Festival Gala is a grand broadcast aimed at the entire nation, and even the whole world; its importance goes without saying.

Therefore, the production team always starts preparations long in advance; some even begin intensive rehearsals half a year ahead of time, all just to present a flawless audiovisual feast to the audience on New Year’s Eve.

However, this time the military had a last-minute idea, and the task they proposed was quite important.

The higher-ups were even planning to use this program prepared by the military as the finale of the Spring Festival Gala!

Because of this, Director Zhang hurriedly brought his team and rushed over without a moment’s delay.

In truth, Director Zhang was quite curious about the program the military was preparing!

Especially since it was the finale, the last one to take the stage—what kind of program could possibly shoulder such a heavy responsibility?

It couldn’t just be the entire military force wishing everyone a Happy New Year, could it!

Director Zhang pondered to himself, feeling that using that as the finale might not have a great effect.

After all, audiences today are suffering from a bit of aesthetic fatigue regarding the Spring Festival Gala.

Back in the day, the Spring Festival Gala was full of famous memes, and all sorts of wonderful programs could provide the audience with a whole year’s worth of joy!

But today’s Spring Festival Gala seems to have gradually shifted towards being education-oriented, with entertainment seemingly becoming less important.

Yet, in their daily studies and work, the audience has already had enough of all kinds of education; who wants to sit in front of the TV on New Year’s Eve listening to you drone on and on with lectures?

Therefore, Director Zhang was thinking that this time, he absolutely had to give the audience something different.

At this moment, he was calculating a bold idea in his mind and really wanted to discuss it with General Zhao Yong.

But before that, he still decided to ask General Zhao Yong first.

”Chief, the higher-ups said you want to use our program as the grand finale for the New Year. I’m very curious about this. Are we planning to have our officers and soldiers wish the audience a Happy New Year when the time comes?”

Director Zhang asked with a smile, his eyes revealing a hint of curiosity and anticipation.

General Zhao Yong laughed heartily upon hearing his words, his laughter bright and resonant,

”Wish everyone a Happy New Year? What kind of program is that? Just thinking about it feels boring!”

Director Zhang laughed along, secretly thinking that this chief was very down-to-earth and didn’t play games; dealing with him would surely be straightforward.

After laughing, Director Zhang seemed to have made up his mind and suddenly said:

”I have a good idea. Would you be willing to hear it, Chief?”

”Of course!”

General Zhao Yong said without hesitation, ”Come, let’s go to my office and have a good chat.”

Thus, the group headed to General Zhao Yong’s office first.

The office was furnished in a simple and solemn manner, with military maps and military medals hanging on the walls, telling the story of its owner’s extraordinary past.

After they were all seated, Director Zhang cleared his throat and began to explain his idea.

”Isn’t the recent situation quite chaotic?”

”I have sensed that our citizens are currently quite lacking in a sense of security!”

”Especially in such a volatile environment with energy prices, the public is terrified that the flames of war might be drawn to our own territory!”

”So I propose...”

Director Zhang paused here. He was actually a bit nervous in his heart, not knowing whether he should continue. After all, this idea was a bit bold, and he didn’t know how General Zhao Yong would react.

General Zhao Yong seemed to see through his thoughts and smiled slightly, signaling him to continue:

”It’s fine, say whatever you want! There are no outsiders here!”

Director Zhang nodded with a smile and continued:

”My proposal is that we could showcase our powerful weapons!”

”For example, the kind of warship we used at the end of last year in the White Sea to scare away the Yanks! It would fully demonstrate the combat capability and strength of our country’s military!”

”I believe it would definitely make our citizens feel a full sense of security!”

”And I think that after the recent White Sea incident, many people must be full of curiosity about our warships. After all, that thing is an existence that scared away two of the Yanks’ carrier strike groups!”

General Zhao Yong was stunned upon hearing these words; he opened his mouth slightly, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

While saying these things, Director Zhang had been observing General Zhao Yong’s reaction. Seeing that General Zhao Yong seemed to be shocked by his inspiration, he seized the opportunity to ask:

”What do you think of this idea?”

General Zhao Yong nodded repeatedly, a look of approval appearing on his face:

”Good! This is a very good idea; one could even say it coincides perfectly with our own thoughts!”

Hearing this, Director Zhang was overjoyed, but before he could be happy for too long, General Zhao Yong continued:

”However, the problem is... the Longwei-class Strategic Warship you mentioned is not powerful enough!”

”Since we want to give the public a full sense of security, we must bring out our trump card!”

Director Zhang was stunned for a moment, secretly pondering to himself: the trump card...

Could it be...

A Nuke???

Hmm...

Director Zhang hesitated for a moment, frowned, thought for a while, and then said:

”It is possible, but I feel it’s not shocking enough!”

”The visual impact isn’t enough!”

”Warships still look more shocking.”

Don’t be fooled by the live broadcast footage at the time where those warships didn’t look very big; in reality, when you see them with your own eyes, you will find that the warships that looked small on TV are actually quite massive. That kind of oppression and shock is very powerful.

Therefore, Director Zhang felt that if they showcased a warship, the effect might be better.

Regarding Director Zhang’s words, General Zhao Yong was also a bit confused, secretly pondering:

”This old Zhang, he doesn’t even know what it is, yet he says it’s not shocking enough?”

He couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head.

Isn’t the Aerospace Carrier more shocking than the Longwei-class Strategic Warship?

General Zhao Yong understood in his heart that Director Zhang had likely misunderstood, but he didn’t offer any further explanation; instead, he turned his head and called for his subordinate.

Before long, an assistant walked over quickly, holding a stack of non-disclosure agreements that needed to be signed.

The assistant’s expression was serious as he distributed these non-disclosure agreements to everyone one by one.

Everyone actually understood the need for non-disclosure agreements; after all, when it involves military matters, one certainly cannot easily leak secrets.

However, when they saw one of the penalty clauses written on the agreement, they couldn’t help but feel a chill!

According to past practice, any leak of secrets is generally treated as espionage, but the punishment here was actually immediate execution, which scared everyone quite a bit.

”Goodness, is this secret that terrifying???”

Someone couldn’t help but mutter in a low voice. They subconsciously looked at General Zhao Yong and saw that the old man still had a kind smile on his face, but for some reason, in their eyes, this smile now seemed somewhat terrifying.
