Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 146 Head-shaving TacticsChapter 146 Head-shaving Tactics
After all, the forest tree demon is only a silver-level pet beast, and the cultivation of specialized leaves will also consume a lot of potential. The gym pet beasts are all similar in terms of skill configuration.

After the fight started, Ye Qingyu was still the third child.

First, he withstood Daolang’s several slashes and used his rooting skills to ensure his own energy supply and recovery speed.

Then use the Flying Leaf Storm to suppress, and from time to time find opportunities to use the seeding skill to summon more saplings to shoot flying leaves together to increase the attack power and coverage.

For most pet beasts of the same level, this tactic, which is obviously to suppress you with offense, is indeed very effective.

After all, it would be difficult for an agile wind beast like Skylark to perfectly dodge the attacks of flying leaf storms one after another by relying on speed.

Not to mention, the forest tree demon will continue to expand its territory, spawning saplings one after another to assist in attacks.

He couldn’t defeat Todoroki, and he couldn’t hide from him. His opponent was still increasing his attack intensity. It’s no wonder that the pass rate of Greenleaf Gym was so low.

However, facing Daolang who has been promoted to the fourth level, the effect of the forest tree demon’s suppressive style of play will inevitably not be very good.

With the help of the dodge and movement speed provided by the Mantis Fist, Daolang shuttled through the storm of flying leaves with ease, dodging most of the leaves with just his dodge movements.

It’s not that Daolang’s speed is so fast that it surpasses the gold-level wind beast. The main thing is that its special way of avoiding is much more efficient than running around.

In actual combat, Russell’s development of the passive skill Mantis Fist not only provided a large number of attributes, but also slightly changed Daolang’s action mode.

When it dodged the storm of flying leaves, Russell saw almost no exaggerated movements. They were all small movements and shaking. If you didn’t look carefully, you would have thought it was the shaking caused by being hit by flying leaves.

In daily training, these movements may look like a swing, but the actual results are surprisingly good.

A sideways turn or a tilt of the head can dodge a large number of flying leaves at a very close distance.

Some of those who couldn’t dodge would be split open by its alloy claw-activated blade arm, and the remaining flying leaves would hit their bodies. After being resisted by insect attributes, they would only suffer minor scratches at most.

After getting slightly accustomed to the attack rhythm of the forest tree demon, Daolang seized the gap of less than a second between the two waves of flying leaf storms and continuously launched counterattacks against the forest tree demon.

In the trial battle stage, Daolang’s main focus was basically on preventing the forest tree demon from using the seeding skills.

Although the attack power of the alloy claw is not very high, it is still no problem to cut off these saplings, which are only three fingers thick.

Before the saplings grow leaves, Daolang always finds the opportunity to appear in time, and cuts them in half with a sweep of his knife arm.

Of course, while taking into account both avoidance and clearing, it is also difficult for it to free up its hands to attack the body of the forest tree demon.

After several battles, the battle between the two beasts turned into a war of attrition.

However, relying on the advantages of the tree beast’s natural rough skin and thick flesh, as well as the recovery effect provided by the rooting skill, the occasional scars caused by the alloy claws healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

If we really want to fight a pure war of attrition, Daolang still does not have the advantage.

Fortunately, everything just now was just a warm-up done by Russell in order to intuitively feel the changes in strength after Daolang’s evolution. The real battle has just begun from this moment.

”Dao Lang, don’t worry about those saplings, attack the forest tree demon at close range.”

After the test, Russell looked sharply and directed Daolang to attack the forest tree demon directly.

Sa——

”Look at me, I’ll cut down this tree in a minute!”

After receiving the order, Daolang flapped his wings and flew towards the opposite side of the field like a silver flash.

Although the wings of the mantis family cannot fly very far, they are still very effective when used for explosive acceleration.

”It’s interesting...” Seeing that Russell was not suppressed, but also commanded the beast to counterattack, Ye Qingyu had a look of appreciation in his eyes.

As a legendary beast master, she could naturally tell that this silver-white mantis was already an intermediate pet beast.

Owning a Ufu Tian’e with excellent long-range attack capabilities, and now taking out a large sword mantis that seemed to have experienced a mutation, Ye Qingyu, who loves nurturing, naturally developed a strong interest in Russell.

Of course, Russell had no idea that his image had changed in the gym leader’s mind. He was now focused on breaking through to become the first battle pet in the Greenleaf Gym.

”Don’t cut down the trunks, look for opportunities to focus on the crowns.”

When Daolang dodged two flying leaf storms and rushed to the forest tree demon, Russell once again gave it supplementary orders.

Sa-!
“I’ve wanted to chop off those annoying leaves for a long time!”

As the saying goes, heroes think alike, Daolang and Russell have the same ideas.

Relying on the combat experience accumulated during this period, it also understands that if the attack is focused on the two or three meters thick tree trunk of the forest tree demon, even if the opponent stands and lets it chop, it will probably take a long time to chop.

Not to mention that this big tree is still absorbing nutrients from the soil and quickly repairing its own injuries.

If you want to win steadily, you must first eliminate its main attack method of wildly launching blades.

Having determined his combat ideas, Dao Lang, like a skilled Tony teacher, began to ”shave his head” around the forest tree demon.

As the chopping sound continued, branches and leaves flew around the forest demon’s head, and the originally dense canopy became sparse in a short time.

hum...

The regeneration time of leaves is much longer than that of bark, and the consumption is greater. A large number of branches and leaves were cut off in a short period of time, making the forest tree demon really feel threatened.

However, the rooted state made it completely unable to move, and it could not even turn around.

Daolang’s movements are very agile and he can always attack around the edge of his field of vision, making it difficult for Feiye Storm to lock on to it at close range.

As a scattering skill without locking effect, Leaf Storm’s attack range is indeed very wide, but it has a fatal blind spot, which is under the user’s canopy.

Because if you launch the flying leaf storm from this angle, you will not only rely on feeling, but also attack with your own torso, which is completely outweighing the gain and loss.

It’s just that most challengers are unable to break through the leaf storm’s strafing attack and get really close to the forest tree demon, so the existence of this shortcoming is very weak.

In order to solve the situation where he was completely passively beaten, Ye Qingyu had to order the forest tree demon to lift its roots, then turn around and fight back against Dao Lang who was running around it.

It’s a pity that the forest tree demon, which focuses on the cultivation of specialized leaves, has almost no training in melee combat capabilities. Its unskilled wooden hammer and vine skills cannot pose any threat to Daolang at all.

In less than 3 minutes, less than a quarter of the leaves of the forest tree demon were left after being tricked around.

Seeing that defeat was almost doomed, Ye Qingyu straightened his face and shouted at the forest tree demon:
”Forest tree demon, rain of flying leaves and arrows!”

Hearing this, Russell also frowned and immediately gave Daolang an order to defend carefully.

Trick warning, this is a bit of humane consideration in the gym challenge.

Because there is no soul contract between the low- and mid-level pet beasts used in the gym and the gym owner, the gym owner usually needs to command through words or gestures.

In the gym battles of the first two badges, when the gym leader uses the ultimate killing move that can end the game, he usually shouts by default to allow the challenger to prepare.

Hearing Ye Qingyu’s shouts meant that the forest tree demon was about to give it a try.
