Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 107 The Real StormChapter 107 The Real Storm

When Zhou Wen stood still in the battle field, a female beastmaster who looked to be in her thirties appeared opposite him.

The man was wearing a rough overalls with suspenders, holding a small shovel in his hand, and there was a lot of mud on his trouser legs. He looked like he had just come back from working in the fields...

”Welcome to the Green Leaf Gym, I am Ye Qingyu, the gym leader.”

If she hadn’t kept introducing herself as Ye Qingyu, Russell would have even thought that the gardener who took care of the plants in the gym had gone to the wrong door.

”You don’t have a gym badge yet. The level of this challenge is level one. It adopts a one-on-one economic model. There are only two pet beasts available for both sides. The starting pet beast sent by the gym is the forest tree demon. Are you ready? ?”

Taking the challenger information form from the assistant’s hand, Ye Qingyu glanced at it briefly, and then said the opening remarks that he had said countless times.

”Ready!”

After trying to calm down some nervous emotions, Zhou Wen nodded firmly.

Immediately, he raised his hand and summoned his first battle pet.

It was a gold-level skylark. It had pure wind attributes and excellent long-range attack capabilities. It was very advantageous against slow-moving plant-type pets.

Zhou Wen came here specially from Silver Wing City because his two pet beasts were restrained against plant-type beasts. Naturally, he wanted to get his first badge here.

”The challenge begins now!”

As a clear announcement came from the gym’s radio, another challenge began.

Wind beasts are known for their speed and attack frequency. After the battle started, Zhou Wen immediately ordered his beasts to launch a quick attack.

”Cang Yunque, wind blade bursts!”

After receiving the order, the skylark flew into the air, and while flapping its wings, it fired more than ten wind blades in succession, heading straight towards the forest tree demon below.

Wind Blade is the most basic attack skill of the wind system, but it is also one of the most widely used skills.

This thin and sharp energy blade can give full play to the attack speed and cutting properties of the wind system, just like a knife cutting down a tree, defeating the opponent by gradually accumulating damage.

Even the strong trunk of the forest dryad cannot withstand the continuous cuts of the sharp wind blade.

Of course, with the legendary master beast master at the command, the forest tree demon will not sit still and wait for death.

I saw Ye Qingyu waving the small shovel in her hand, and the forest tree demon who had a special tacit understanding with her understood it, and her body was immediately filled with green plant energy.

”Cang Yunque, use the wings of wind to avoid...uh?”

Seeing this, Zhou Wen thought that the forest tree demon was going to use the classic Flying Leaf Storm skill to counterattack, so he quickly ordered the Skylark to take off into the air to avoid it.

Wings of Wind is an auxiliary skill that almost all bird pets can learn. The effect is very simple, it is acceleration.

It is said that the high proficiency of the Wings of Wind can even make the beast’s speed exceed the limit of naked eye observation, producing a pseudo-teleport effect. This simple and easy-to-use skill is also one of the regular moves of the wind beast.

Relying on the acceleration effect brought by the wings of wind, Skylark flew to a height close to the ceiling of the gym in an instant. At its speed, it was almost impossible for the Flying Leaf Storm to hit it from such a distance.

Unexpectedly, the forest tree demon below did not use any attack skills at all. After the green light dissipated, its root system became much larger and began to quickly absorb the energy in the soil.

Russell has seen this move in the rookie group competitive arena. It is a low-level recovery skill of the plant system called ”Take Root”.

Since the ability to move will be completely lost after use, its recovery ability is better than other low-level skills that have no side effects.

Relying on the innate skill ”Strong Root System” and the effect of rooting superposition, the desert thorn that Russell encountered in the semi-finals showed amazing recovery capabilities, which impressed him deeply.

The next moment, the wind blades shot by Cang Yunque struck the forest tree demon one after another.

whoosh-

Whizzing--

Giving up an opportunity to attack, the forest tree demon used its body to resist the wind blade’s continuous attacks.

Zhou Wen’s skylark was very proficient in energy micro-manipulation. Under its control, more than a dozen wind blades were in a concentrated attack, leaving several deep scars on the forest tree demon.

However, relying on the excellent body of the tree beast itself and the recovery effect provided by the rooting skill, the scars on the forest tree demon began to slowly heal the moment the wind blade stopped.

Seeing this scene, Zhou Wen could only order the skylark to descend to a height of about five meters again. After all, the wind blade is not a physical skill. When the skylark is flying high in the sky, the forest tree demon has nothing to do with it, but its own attacks will also be weakened due to the long flight distance, and the aim will be deflected.

With the Wind Blade’s low single-target damage, if it were to lower its power, it might not be able to defeat the rooted forest tree demon even if its energy is exhausted.

”Cang Yunque, Canglan Whirlpool!”

After bringing the forest tree demon back into the effective attack range, Zhou Wen issued a new attack order to Cang Yunque.

Canglan Whirlpool is an exclusive skill of the Skylark clan. It can summon a tornado composed of hundreds of wind blades, causing continuous tearing and cutting effects on the target. It is a low-end match of the wind-type high-level killing move ”Tearing Vortex” Version.

Even with the rooting skill to restore injuries, the forest tree demon could not withstand Cang Lan’s continuous damage.

However, at the same time, the forest tree demons who were well prepared for war also launched a counterattack.

Russell has watched its attack moves many times on video.

Lifting the branches and raising the crown of the tree, the light of green plant-based energy that is not dazzling but is extremely concentrated is condensed above the head.

Swish-!
After completing this set of classic spell-casting movements, the forest tree demon waved its branches, and leaves that were strengthened by plant energy flew out of the sky, rushing towards the Canglan vortex that enveloped itself.

This skill is somewhat similar to Nether Explosion. It is not difficult to master. It is a low-level skill, but it is powerful enough to surpass many mid-level skills.

The flaw of the Flying Leaf Storm skill is that to use this skill, you really need to shoot out your own leaves, otherwise the plant energy emitted will not be able to take shape, and the power will be reduced by at least %.

Therefore, the forest tree demon whose racial talent is ”prosperous branches and leaves” can become one of the iconic pet beasts specially cultivated by the Greenleaf Gym.

With the forest tree demon’s seemingly endless supply of leaves, a simple move called Flying Leaf Storm suddenly exerted a power comparable to high-level skills.

After being hit by thousands of leaves contained in four or five flying leaf storms, the already formed Canglan vortex was suddenly dispersed.

Immediately afterwards, the target of the flying leaf storm became the skylark still lingering at low altitude.

”Use the Wings of Wind to dodge!”

Seeing that the offensive was reversed in an instant, Zhou Wen wanted to repeat his old trick and let the skylark fly high into the sky to avoid it.

It’s a pity that Hall Master Ye Qingyu has dealt with countless challengers who want to suppress the forest tree demon with attack distance.

After breaking up the Canglan whirlpool, the two flying leaf storms sent out by the forest tree demon did not go directly towards the Canglan Que. Instead, they slightly increased in height and shrouded the path it took to the sky.

Unable to distance itself, Skylark did not dare to attack head-on. It could only flap its wings with fast-flowing wind energy and dodge quickly among the flying leaves.

At this time, a passionate shout came from the audience at the right time:

”Old fellows, have you seen this? This is the real storm!”

Although this person’s exaggerated anchoring style immediately attracted the attention of venue staff who maintained order, his words were recognized by many people present.

The skylark struggling in the storm of flying leaves is indeed like a homeless little bird in the storm, looking so weak and helpless.

In this situation where the forest tree demon only needs to attack without thinking, while the blue skylark must carefully avoid every flying leaf, within a short while, it made a mistake.

chirp-

During a dodge, the skylark misjudged and several flying leaves hit its wings.

The total damage of the Flying Leaf Storm skill is very high, but the power of each blade is limited. This combined attack is not enough to severely damage the skylark, but it reduces its flying ability.

After its wings were injured, it was difficult for the skylark to continue to dodge attacks, and the forest tree demon’s dense skills also made it too late to condense the Canglan vortex.

In desperation, Zhou Wen could only command Cang Yunque to launch an attack with the wind blade.

However, the characteristics of wind skills are lightness and quick attack, and they are not outstanding in terms of strong attack.

The skylark flapped its wings as hard as it could and launched dozens of wind blades, which were submerged in the flying leaves almost as soon as they took shape.

It was no match at all in a confrontation, and it was quickly knocked back to Zhou Wen’s beast control space by the continuous storm of flying leaves.
