Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 43 The Prototype of Mantis FistChapter 43 The Prototype of Mantis Fist

After receiving the order from the beastmaster, Da Dao Mantis and Blood Fang Greedy Wolf, who already disliked each other, soon started to fight together.

On the premise that no skills are used, pure hand-to-hand combat tests the pet’s basic physical fitness on the one hand, but more importantly, its fighting skills.

Although the gold-level Blood-fang Greedy Wolf was up against the Silver-level Dao Dao Mantis, which had been carefully cultivated by Russell for a period of time, there was a gap in physical fitness between the two, but it was still within a reasonable range and would not constitute a crushing blow.

However, in terms of fighting skills and combat consciousness, Daodao Mantis is far behind.

The Blood-fang Greedy Wolf looks violent, but in fact it never attacks recklessly. Its attacks are weak and real, and sometimes it tries to kill them from the front. When the Big Sword Mantis raises its blade arm to block, it jumps to the side and uses it again. The wolf’s tail was swept and he stumbled.

This was the result after Xiang Heng was worried about injuring the guest and ordered the Blood-fang Greedy Wolf to hold back. If it were an actual battle, the one that hit Dao Mantis might have been the bloody fangs with astonishing destructive power and a bleeding effect.

”The pet beasts raised in the martial arts hall are indeed extraordinary.”

Seeing Daodao Mantis being beaten back and forth, Russell was very happy.

Previously, Ayou was able to defeat the Blood-fang Greedy Wolf. In addition to Xiang Heng’s underestimation of the enemy, he also had the advantage of flying. Faced with the natural suppression effect of melee beasts, against targets flying in the air and using long-range skills to output, the Blood-fang Greedy Wolf’s hand-to-hand combat skills were difficult to overcome. play.

And his Steel Winged Falcon was still young and had only a short amount of training days, so it was defeated by Da Dao Mantis.

In the battle with Li Moxin, Daodao Mantis did rely on its fighting instinct to win unexpectedly, but its opponent was a wet moss turtle with all defense skills. It did not engage in a confrontation throughout the whole process, and was only beaten unilaterally.

If Da Dao Mantis faced Blood Fang Greedy Wolf head-on on the field, Russell felt that it would be defeated in less than ten rounds.

It can be said that today’s Big Sword Mantis is like a piece of jade. It has very good fighting instincts and intuition, but its basic skills need to be improved urgently.

Seeing the importance of fighting skills for close-combat pets, Russell couldn’t help but secretly sigh, this time he really found the right direction and came to the right place!
After a 15-minute trial lesson, Daodao Mantis looked frustrated and doubtful, while Russell beamed and booked sixty lessons in one go.

Each formal class is one and a half hours long, with one class in the morning and one class in the afternoon. You can take a break for a few hours at noon, which is enough to restore your physical strength.

It is said that martial arts training requires childlike skills, but Daodao Mantis only started training when he was mature, so he had to work harder.

In this regard, Daodao Mantis said that it is not a problem at all, and the dosage can even be increased.

”Then I’ll trouble you, Master Xiang. I’ll come to pick up Dadao Mantis every morning and evening. I’ll rest at your martial arts center at noon.”

In order to maximize the effect of basic physical training, Russell also purchased Bloodstone Martial Arts’ special training meals.

The price of this set meal is 150 credits for just one lunch, which is almost the same as the cost of a course. However, the staple food of the set meal is high-quality meat, and a cultivation material called bloodstone grass is also added. , can make the pet’s blood active and fully consolidate the benefits of exercise.

Calculated, Da Dao Mantis’s daily expenses are now 550 credits, which does not include the steel-type cultivation materials that still need to be consumed.

Eating too much of the same type of cultivation material will cause saturation and diminishing efficacy. After eating the steel manes during this period, the steel energy of Dao Dao Mantis increased significantly more slowly, and Russell had to prepare higher-level new cultivation materials for it.

The ancients did not deceive me about the so-called ”poor in literature and rich in martial arts”.

Without sufficient financial support, even a good meal cannot be afforded, and even the best pets cannot train at high intensity while suffering from malnutrition.

…………

In the next few days, Russell, in addition to taking care of the leafworms and silkworm eggs that were arriving one after another with Lu Yinning, added another task every day: transporting the mantis to and from the martial arts gym for training.

Eight in the morning and four in the evening, rain or shine.

Every time he sat in the rest area of the Bloodstone Martial Arts Hall and watched Da Dao Mantis training, he felt like a parent sitting outside the classroom waiting for his primary school students to finish class. He wanted his children to work harder, but was also a little afraid that their children would be tired.

Just because Da Dao Mantis is really a bit desperate to train.Although a course lasts one and a half hours, it is usually interspersed with several breaks and adjustments, as well as time for explanations and corrections. The actual sparring time usually only accounts for half, or even less than half.

Ordinary guests wouldn’t say anything about this. After all, it’s simply unrealistic to let pet beasts fight in high-intensity melee combat for an hour and a half.

But every time after being knocked down, the Mantis took a few breaths and then pounced on him again. After an hour and a half of class, Xiang Heng felt that it had been fighting with the Bloody Greedy Wolf for at least an hour.

Although Xueya Greedy Wolf has been accustomed to the life of sparring and sparring since he was a child, he is also very tired from it.

However, such hard training also allowed Daodao Mantis’s fighting skills to develop rapidly.

However, after three to five days, although it was still no match for Blood Fang Greedy Wolf, it was no longer being suppressed and beaten unilaterally like it was during the first trial class.

In addition to being beaten, Da Dao Mantis can occasionally give Blood Fang Greedy Wolf a few blows, beating it with its hard and sharp blade arm until it howls.

What’s even more rare is that in the back and forth dodges and attacks of Daodao Mantis, Russell also saw a sense of his own routine.

When defending, the giant sword mantis has changed its habit of raising its blade arm and parrying with all its strength. Now it will gently hold the blade arm in front of its chest, and constantly shake its flexible hind foot joints, causing its body to sway from side to side. It looks like it may Move in any direction at any time, making it difficult for the enemy to figure out your next intention.

At the same time, the broadsword mantis will also use its compound eyes with three-dimensional vision to firmly lock the enemy’s position. If there is an opportunity, it will quickly slash through with a knife, and then duck back to prevent counterattack.

This fighting method of wandering around the enemy, constantly probing for fights, returning with one blow, and slowly accumulating advantages is indeed very suitable for insect-based beasts that are inevitably inferior to beasts such as lions, wolves, tigers, and leopards in terms of absolute strength.

”I don’t know...is this a different world version of Mantis Fist?”

Seeing Daodao Mantis’ increasingly proficient steps and offensive and defensive moves, Russell couldn’t help but think of the famous martial arts school Mantis Boxing.

However, in this world, humans learned the posture of the mantis and developed a set of martial arts called Mantis Fist. Now it is a pet mantis that taps its own potential and practices fighting skills based on the characteristics of its race.

When praying mantis practices Mantis Boxing, it should be more authentic~
Thinking of this, Russell suddenly remembered that he had read in a book that in addition to using skill stones and training according to the guide to understand existing skills, there is another way to obtain skills, and that is to create your own skills.

The so-called self-created skills, the specific operation method is actually similar to the understanding of existing skills, that is, practice more and practice to gain true knowledge.

It’s just that the history of beast control has developed for so many years, and the interlocking skill framework has been basically formed. It is actually not easy to truly create an unprecedented skill that has certain practicality and is not forced to make up the numbers.

In the updated skills chapter of the ”Beast Control Encyclopedia” released by the alliance headquarters every year, there are only a few dozen new skills. Compared with the billions of people in the entire human population, this number is really a drop in the ocean.

Moreover, the ratio of effort and reward for self-created skills is highly random.

Although it is not 100% successful in understanding existing skills, as long as the general direction of training is correct, you can usually learn at least the same type of skills, and the more popular the skill, the more detailed the method of understanding it, which can effectively reduce this problem. risk.

But if you create your own skills, you have to rely entirely on yourself...

It’s just difficult, but the skills created by ordinary pet beasts and ordinary trainers are not necessarily better than the existing skills. This is the main reason why most people are discouraged from innovation.

If after ten years of enlightenment one finally creates a decent mid- to low-level skill, it may be a good thing for enriching the pet beast’s skill library, but it will be a huge delay for the personal development of the beast master. .

Therefore, the route of ”self-created skills” is rarely singled out and emphasized.

”If the fighting skills of Daodao Mantis can be developed into skills, it will probably be able to defeat the Blood-fang Greedy Wolf...”

However, Russell, who had the talent of ”Cocoon of Evolution”, did not consider the cost of time or trial and error at all. All he could think about was the natural proficiency of his self-created skills at full value, as well as the unexpected effects in battle.

The essential difference between skills and techniques lies in the mobilization of energy. For example, a simple chopping and the steel energy in the body can be combined and accurately adjusted to become an alloy claw skill, greatly improving the cutting ability of the blade arm.

If the Great Sword Mantis can integrate energy rhythm into every body swing, dodge and guerrilla, it may be able to create a powerful melee skill that combines offense and defense!
