Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 14 Thread SpiderChapter 14 Thread Spider

After arriving at safe point No. 13, the stationed soldiers briefly explained to Russell the distribution of nearby pet beasts and gave him a temporary military supply package.

In addition to antidotes, therapeutic sprays, portable fire sources and other items, there is also a lifelike mechanical bird.

In a world where beast-controlling civilization is highly developed, this kind of small mechanical creature with basic independent thinking actually belongs to the category of pet beast. However, the mechanical creature is an artificial race after all. The thoughts of most mechanical pet beasts include ”protecting humans and obeying.” ”Human” setting, as long as the manager authorizes them, some simple orders can be issued to them without a contract.
This bronze-level accompanying mechanical bird will transmit Russell’s images back to the NO.13 safe zone, and when necessary, it can also release harsh expulsion sound waves, not only to protect his safety, but also to monitor his work.

The strength of the pet beasts in the trial ground is generally within the third level. Even the maintenance personnel who mainly focus on breeding can resist to some extent. As long as they do not seek death excessively, after receiving the alarm from the mechanical bird transmitted back to the safe area, The stationed soldiers usually had time to launch rescue operations.

After receiving the military supplies wrapped in dark green canvas, Russell did not stop in the safe area and went straight to the bushes where the thread spider lived.

”Ayou, fly beside me and be on guard.”

Stepping out of the iron gate of the safe area and standing in front of a dense forest that was as short as two or three stories high, he summoned Ayou, who had been excited in the beast control space, and at the same time activated the dormant mechanical bird.

Huhu——

Bird beasts are the natural enemies of insect beasts. Seeing the mechanical bird for the first time, Ayou expressed nervousness to Russell.

What kind of bird is this following us?
Not happy, not happy.

”This is just a surveillance. I received it temporarily, so don’t worry about it.”

In this regard, Russell, who was obsessed with admiring the scenery of the jungle, waved his hand and explained casually.

Although Ayou didn’t understand what ”monitoring” meant, he probably figured it out. The bird seemed to obey its owner’s orders and would not suddenly attack itself.

Moreover, the wingspan of its wings is nearly one meter wide, and the annoying bird is only slightly larger than a human hand. Through a simple and crude comparison, Ayou, who has the absolute advantage in size, quickly ignored the existence of the mechanical bird.

The area managed by the NO.13 safety zone is about kilometers in diameter. After walking for half an hour, Russell saw a forest with a light white mist in the distance.

It was almost noon, and even in the dense forest there should not be a large cloud of fog. Having done his homework in advance, he knew that the forest fog ahead was not yet dissipated, but a carefully arranged hunt by the Thread Spider. field.

These jumping spider beasts that do not have the habit of weaving webs will roll the spider silk into a round ball like a yarn ball, and then use it to hit a fungus called a thick pink mushroom near the nest, causing the spores with a weak paralysis effect to Spreading everywhere, over time a layer of white mist was formed.

At the same time, the thread in the hands of the thread spider will also be covered with a large number of spores. The good stickiness and paralysis effect will make many small creatures that stray into the woods never come back and become their nourishment.

According to the illustrated book ”Beast Control Encyclopedia”, hungry thread spiders will even cooperate to capture larger creatures.

The reason why the wild is so dangerous has a lot to do with the number and geographical advantages of wild pet beasts. When he came to the place where thread spiders gathered, Russell did not move on rashly, but found a small slope with slightly higher terrain to start. A tent was pitched.

”Ayou, please move around freely for a while. Don’t fly too far and don’t fight with wild beasts.”

After setting up the tent, he asked Ayou, who was flapping his wings impatiently and wanting to fight, to calm down, and then took out the telescope he had purchased with ”a huge sum of money” to observe the situation in the forest.

Through the battle with the devil dog, Russell judged that Ayou’s hard power was not much weaker than that of ordinary third-level beasts. In this area with relatively sparse trees, he was not worried about any fatal danger that Ayou would encounter.

This moth that thinks about fighting all day long may really need a beating to cultivate a sense of awe...

Anyway, the military supply package issued by the safe zone contains a lot of treatment medicine, which is enough to treat minor injuries.

The core of the mechanical bird contains a detailed map of the vicinity of the NO.13 safety zone. When Russell was busy, it was extremely familiar with this area and found a branch to stay on its own, quietly performing its monitoring duties.

......... After looking through the telescope for a long time, Russell had a preliminary understanding of the situation in the foggy forest ahead.

First of all, going directly into the foggy forest is asking for death. The line of sight in the forest is blocked, and it is difficult for the mechanical bird to detect the danger in time. If it is besieged by a large number of thread spiders, by the time the stationed soldiers arrive, I and Ayou will probably have been sucked dry. .

Moreover, the thread spider itself is also toxic to a certain extent. Even if you wear a protective mask to avoid directly inhaling the paralyzing spores, if you are directly bitten by the thread spider hiding in the white mist and walking around you, you will probably lose your action on the spot. ability.

Of course, this does not mean that Russell’s trip can only return in vain. Groups of thread spiders that rely on ambush hunting are difficult to deal with, but their own shortcomings are also obvious.

Since all its limited talents are spent on setting up hunting grounds and ambush directions, the thread spider’s frontal combat ability is very poor. Even if the thread is stained with paralysis spores, its direct attack power is pitifully low. As long as it is not hit continuously, it will fall into a complete state. In the paralyzed state, the impact force is difficult to even hurt an ordinary human being.

Secondly, the mobility of thread spiders is at the bottom among jumping spiders, and their strength is completely in line with the average value of bronze-level pets. Once they leave the fog forest, they may not even be able to beat a dog.

Therefore, unless there is an emergency situation such as a wildfire burning the forest, the thread spider will rarely crawl out of the nesting forest even if it starves to death.

In other words, as long as Ayou uses the method of repeatedly testing at the edge of the foggy forest and does not actually fly into the forest, it doesn’t matter even if he is knocked unconscious by the thrown thread ball. After a short rest, he will be a good moth again.

As for how to attract thread spiders in the forest to actively attack outside the forest, a bottle of cheap and high-quality enemy pheromone spray is enough to solve the problem.

”Ayou, let’s go.”

After making sufficient preparations, Russell waved to Ayou, who was chasing a few ordinary butterflies.

A few minutes later, a sneaky person appeared on the side of the foggy forest.

呲味——

Picking up the large bottle of enemy-luring pheromones purchased for 50 credits, Russell sprayed Ayou all over.

”...Oh, this smell is a little bit overpowering.”

So fragrant, so fragrant~
An indescribable smell wafted over, and he and Ayou felt completely opposite.

The smell of enemy-attracting pheromones, which is particularly nauseating to humans, is a very attractive smell to pet animals.

The sound that came from the foggy forest next fully proved that there was no problem with the quality of this bottle of discounted product.

After a crawling sound, several thread spiders suddenly appeared on several trees at the edge of the foggy forest.

These washbasin-sized string spiders have round bellies and are covered with gray fluff. The two spider legs at the front are obviously longer than the other six legs.

The gray-white spheres hanging from the front of the long legs are their weapons - paralyzing threads.

”Fly close to the edge of the fog forest, don’t fly into the forest, and don’t fly too far away.”

”Try to gather ghost energy when flying, but don’t release it. Accumulate the energy to the limit and then slowly disperse it.”

Looking at the thread spiders that were attracted by the enemy pheromones and kept making attacking movements, Russell gave Ayou two key orders.

call--!
Ayou showed no fear for training that could improve her strength. Like a ghostly shadow, it flew towards these large spiders, which were also the natural enemies of the moth pet race.
