Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 24 Group PromotionChapter 24 Group Promotion
Lindsay’s commentary pushed the atmosphere in the arena to a climax. After a short break, both sides sent out their second pets.

The Blood-fang Greedy Wolf was defeated, and Xiang Heng completely put away his contempt for Russell at this moment, but this vigilance seemed to be a little too late.

His second pet beast is the steel-type Steel Wing Falcon, which is also a powerful pet beast with gold-level bloodline.

The wingspan of an adult Steel-winged Falcon can reach more than two meters, and its feathers as hard as steel are both offensive and defensive. Its majestic appearance is comparable to that of instructor Tu Tiezhu’s Gale War Eagle at the Black Dew Forest Training Ground.

However, Xiang Heng’s steel-winged falcon seems to be only slightly larger than Ayou, so it should be a cub that has just been contracted.

The Dagger Mantis has reached maturity and has some advantages in terms of life energy levels.

Sa-!
Finally getting a chance to fight, the Great Sword Mantis seemed very excited. It made a rattling sound with its blade arms, as if it wanted to rush over and fight the Steel Wing Falcon for rounds.

In the wild, the broadsword mantis is often the target of steel-winged falcon hunting. Even if Xiang Heng’s steel-winged falcon is only a cub, it cannot tolerate being so provoked by food.

Facing the arrogant Dao Dao Mantis, it spread its wings and flapped the air vigorously, screaming continuously in an attempt to regain its place.

Still in the preparation stage, the smell of gunpowder between the two sides is already very strong.

As the ”battle begins” announcement sounded again, the two pet beasts at war with each other immediately started a new round of fierce battle.

The difference is that this time the main attacker was replaced by Russell.

Although the Great Knife Mantis also has wings, most of the time it just lies on the tree waiting for an ambush and cannot fly for a long time. The Steel Winged Falcon can learn many basic skills of the wind system. If it pulls away and rises to a high altitude, Daodao Mantis will face the situation of being consumed remotely.

When moving in a small area, the membrane wings are more flexible than the wide wings. The two sides struggled for a while at low altitude. Seeing that the steel-winged falcon failed to get rid of the sword mantis and successfully ascended, but was almost directly hit by the sword arm while dodging, Xiang Heng simply went to It issued orders for close combat.

”Use steel wings, continuous wing attacks!”

After receiving the order, the Steel Wing Falcon screamed, and its wings suddenly lit up with a silver metallic sheen.

As the name suggests, Steel Wings is the racial talent of the Steel Wing Falcon. This strengthening skill can metalize the long and thick flight feathers on its wings, turning them into sharp knives.

A young steel-winged falcon of the second gold level may not necessarily be at a disadvantage against an adult mantis of the third silver level.

Seeing that Xiang Heng and Steel Wing Falcon accepted the challenge of close combat, Russell also issued an order to Daodao Mantis:

”Search for the opportunity and use the alloy claws to attack the inside of its wings.”

Before he finished speaking, a metallic luster similar to that of a steel-winged falcon appeared on the sword arm of Dao Dao Mantis. Two cold lights flashed, and the alloy claws and steel wings met fiercely, sparks splashing out.

”Hiss... Is this person really just the owner of a pet shop? How can a pure insect-type mantis still learn steel-type skills?”

He clearly saw Russell’s big sword mantis using its alloy claws, and Xiang Heng felt that one head was bigger than the other two.

As a leader among the new generation of disciples of the Bloodstone Martial Arts Hall, he originally set a goal for himself to be No. 1 in the group stage.

In fact, this goal is not too ambitious. After all, it is only the group stage of the quarterly rookie competition. Some seniors who are not as strong as him have already reached the top three.

I just didn’t expect that Russell would be hit hard in the first official game.

Although the group stage adopts a points system and will not directly lose the qualification for promotion due to a defeat, if you lose one game at the beginning, not only will your mentality be hit hard, but the pressure on the subsequent schedule will undoubtedly increase greatly.

Are you too old this year?
Just when Xiang Heng was thinking wildly, the battle between Steel Wing Falcon and Broadsword Mantis had reached a fever pitch.

Relying on its excellent three-dimensional vision, the Broadsword Mantis keenly understood the rhythm of the Steel-Wing Falcon’s attack. It kept Russell’s orders in mind, and while blocking, every attack avoided the Steel-Wing Falcon’s most tempered feathers and charged towards it. The roots of its wings go away.Since the growth of the steel wings is mainly concentrated on the periphery of the wings, and the inner coverts are only slightly hardened, the broadsword mantis can cut off several feathers every time. After several battles, the wings of the steel-winged falcon are already red.

Regarding this result, Russell nodded with satisfaction.

The Great Sword Mantis, which has sufficient attack power, is indeed very brave in such a close and rapid attack. The still young Steel Wing Falcon is completely unable to parry.

My taste is really good, Bole is actually me~
One side became more courageous as they fought, and the other side continued to add scars. In order to prevent the Steel Wing Falcon from being too seriously injured, Xiang Heng finally chose to surrender.

”Dear audience friends, Russell from the Insect Control House on Maple Grove Road won this battle. He and the insect-type pets he brought really created a miracle!”

When Xiang Heng sadly left the stage, Lindsay flew into the air on a concentric pigeon and enthusiastically announced the results of the battle.

Under his emotional arousal, the audience burst into applause, but Russell felt a little weird when he heard it.

Winning a group match is called a miracle. The reputation of insect-type pets is really bad...

…………

Due to the large number of participants, the schedule of the group stage was extremely compact. After the first start, Russell played almost one game every day.

Fortunately, contestants can use the professional medical room in the battle area for free, which fully solves his troubles of treating Ayou and replenishing energy.

In the subsequent games, Russell encountered opponents that were much weaker than Xiang Heng. Faced with Ayou’s strong blast, they were defeated in almost two rounds.

During this period, he also found opportunities to let Dao Dao Mantis appear a few more times, finally alleviating its eagerness to fight.

When the last group match ended, Russell successfully advanced to the top of the rookie group city competition with a complete victory record.

In this process, both Ayou and Daodao Mantis gained new gains in their ability development columns.

As a powerful output player who can kill people at any time, Ayou has endured a lot of control skills these days, so he has also gained a lot of proficiency in mental resistance, while Daodao Mantis has begun to understand the ability to attack weak points.

These basic abilities are very versatile and can be derived from many practical skills. However, Russell has not yet figured out the direction of developing their abilities, so he can only put them aside for the time being.

The ninth group is the penultimate group to start. A few days after Russell’s promotion, all the group matches of this season’s rookie group competition ended, and he also received a notice to participate in the top a week later.

After breaking out of the group stage, the competition will change from a points system to a knockout system. The top will advance to the quarterfinals. The top eight will determine the top four. Then there will be the semifinals of four to two, and the finals to compete for the rookie championship.

”Huh...this period of time has been really tiring.”

After reading the game notice, Russell leaned on the rocking chair and let out a long sigh.

First, he helped Ayou learn skills, then he was busy generating income for the Chongwu House, and then he played in the group stage for several days in a row. Both he and the two pet beasts felt a little tired.

Before entering the top , Russell planned to relax.

”Let’s see what entertainment options are around first.”

After making up his mind, he took his mobile phone and searched for food distribution and tourist attractions around Senluo City.
