Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 2 Black Ring Celestial SilkwormChapter 2 Black Ring Celestial Silkworm
”You have to eat your food one bite at a time, and you have to walk the road step by step. It’s too much to think about building a gym now...”

After thinking about the glorious path of the insect gym for a moment, Russell gradually calmed down.

”Cocoon of Evolution” is indeed a good talent that is one in a million, but the cultivation talent needs to be effective over time. With this talent alone, he cannot directly rush into the Senluo City Beast Control Center and kill everyone.

If you want the business of Yu Chongwu to improve and no longer be in arrears with rent, water and electricity, I am afraid that in the short term, you will still have to rely on basic businesses such as selling materials and pet animals.

Secondly, Russell also needs to figure out how to use the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent to screen the growth progress of insect beasts and choose the direction of evolution.

Thinking of this, he got up and moved the breeding box for feeding black-ringed silkworm larvae to the window.

These round-headed little bugs only need to eat mulberry leaves to grow smoothly. After a development period of about a year, when winter turns to spring, the successfully evolved larvae will emerge as UFO hawk moths.

The UFO Hawkmoth is named after its ghost-like and erratic flying skills. The translucent black butterfly wings fluttering in the air are almost indistinguishable from the original chubby caterpillar.

After trying for a moment, Russell found that as long as he concentrated, he could see the growth progress bar appearing next to each black-ringed larvae.

This box of black-ringed silkworm larvae is a pet beast purchased by Yuchongwu half a year ago. According to the one-year cocooning cultivation cycle, their growth progress is basically around to %, and the values Russell saw are indeed roughly the same. in this way.

However, observing dozens of targets at once would inevitably lead to too much information being received, making it impossible to see the details. So he grabbed one of the black-ringed silkworms that seemed to be in the best development condition, and put it in the palm of his hand to observe carefully. .

As expected, the information displayed this time was immediately clear.

”Black-ringed silkworm larvae”

Attribute: Bug

Bloodline Level: Black Iron
Life energy level: Level

Skill: Spinning Silk
Growth progress: 52%

Among them, insect energy accounts for 40%, plant energy accounts for 7%, and water energy accounts for 5%.

Ability development: None”

This information is completely consistent with the description in the popular science illustrated book. The bloodline level represents the natural potential of the pet race, the life energy level represents the current strength of a pet beast, the lowest black iron level bloodline, combined with the weak strength of the first level, and the complete The black-ringed Cecropia larvae, which have no fighting power and can be seen everywhere, are a perfect match.

When observed alone, the growth progress bar next to the black-ringed Cecropia larvae is many times clearer. Not only can the 52% value be accurately seen, but also three different colors can be seen mixed in between.

According to the displayed information, the light brown color that occupies most of the progress bar should be insect energy, and the blue-green color squeezed on the edge is plant and water energy.

Black-ringed silkworm larvae were pure insect-type pets before they evolved. Naturally, they have the most insect-type energy in their bodies. Being herbivorous, they only eat mulberry leaves for a living during their growth. It is understandable that there are some plant-type energy residues in their bodies.

As for the unexpected water energy, Russell thought for a while and felt that it should be because the weather has been rainy recently and the mulberry leaves contained too much water, so it was accumulated in the body of this black-ringed silkworm larvae.

Ability development probably refers to the awakening of skills during the growth process of pet beasts.

The training of skills requires continuous accumulation and learning, and eating alone is not enough. The black-ringed silkworm larvae have lived in an incubator and chewed mulberry leaves since they were born. It is reasonable that they have not mastered additional skills.

Seeing this, he probably understood the principle of using the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent.

”The so-called screening of growth progress probably means removing unnecessary energy so that the pet beast can use all its potential in the direction that suits it best?”

As soon as this thought came up, a few strands of milky white energy threads spread out from Russell’s fingertips and gently connected to the black-ringed silkworm larvae.

With the stirring and pulling of the silk thread, the plant and water energy in the black-ringed silkworm larvae was swept away, leaving only the remaining 40% of pure insect energy.

During the whole process, the black-ringed Cecropia larva seemed to enjoy it very much. It stretched its body and repeatedly rubbed Russell’s palm with its small dark green head.

At the same time, a weak message was transmitted to Russell’s heart along the thread.

”As the first insect-type pet beast to react to the cocoon of evolution, the black-ringed silkworm larvae feels very kind to you and wants to take the initiative to sign a beast-control contract with you.”

Obviously, the ”Cocoon of Evolution” also gave him a high affinity for insect beasts. For those pet beast larvae whose intelligence has not yet developed and whose ability to perceive the outside world and their vigilance are weak, this alone is enough. It’s enough to make them take the initiative to get close to Russell.

Looking at the cute black-ringed celestial silkworm larva rolling in his palm, Russell seriously thought about the pros and cons of using it as his initial pet.

The beast control contract is a bond that is fused with the soul. Although it can be forcibly broken, it will cause serious mental drain on the contractee. It often takes a long time to recover, and there are many people who cannot recover for life.

Under this premise, no matter whether you want to become a professional beast master who specializes in fighting, everyone will choose the contracted pet very carefully. Even if you sell it and take on the ”pet loan”, you will try your best to choose the best one for yourself. Some initial pets.

Even if the black-ringed hawkmoth larvae can advance to another level after evolution and become a bronze-level UFO hawkmoth, it will still be an inferior existence in the beast-control arena where silver- to gold-level beasts are the mainstream.Contracting a mature pet beast that is only at the Bronze level is considered by most people to be a completely lunatic act.

But Russell has his own considerations and analysis.

The individual combat capabilities of insect-type pets are generally weak, and the few insect-type pets that are relatively powerful because of their dragon, fairy, etc. bloodlines are very rare. With his current wealth, he simply cannot afford to buy those eggs.

If you have the powerful talent ”Cocoon of Evolution” that is exclusive to the insect type, you can’t contract a pet that has nothing to do with the insect type as your initial pet.

Furthermore, with the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, the pet beast’s original racial strength is not actually crucial, but the feasibility of attribute matching and targeted training is the key.

The UFO Hawkmoth, which has evolved into both insect and ghost attributes and has excellent flying ability, actually has a good foundation. It relies on its all-pervasive scale powder and its weird and unpredictable ghost-type skills. Its attack mode is difficult to defend. .

Unfortunately, the UFO Hawkmoth’s attributes in all aspects are too low.

Due to the fact that it only has a bronze bloodline level, its life energy level is difficult to exceed the third level. Although the attack is easy to hit, the damage is obviously insufficient, and the body is broken at a touch, so few people actually use the UFO Hawk Moth was bred as a battle pet.

”Good attribute combination and training potential, but it requires multiple evolutions to make up for the lack of innate attributes... It seems to be a perfect fit with the Cocoon of Evolution.”

Anyway, the current situation is that the Imperial Insect House cannot make ends meet. It seems that it is a problem to eat. It has no money to buy pet eggs. After comparing the UFO Hawkmoth with the silver-level pet beast, the Great Jaw Sandworm, which has the highest bloodline level in the store, Russell In my mind, I still prefer the former.

Now that he had made a basic judgment and had no better choice in front of him, Russell no longer hesitated and decisively accepted the contract invitation from the black-ringed silkworm larvae in his hand.

When the pet beast had no will to resist, the process of signing the beast-control contract was very simple. A few milky white lights containing the breath of life flashed, and the black-ringed silkworm larvae disappeared from his palm and appeared in the spiritual world. In the beast-controlling space composed of energy.

”Successfully signed the beast control contract, and the power of the cocoon of evolution begins to affect your pet beast.”

After signing the contract, Russell felt a spiritual connection with the black-ringed silkworm larvae.

”What’s a good name for you... You look dark, why don’t you call me Xiao Hei? It seems a bit too casual... After you evolve, your name will be called UFO Hawkmoth, so let’s call you Ayou!”

As a rule, most beast masters would give their partners nice names. Unfortunately, Russell was a bad namer. After much deliberation, he could only choose a word from the name of his pet beast’s race.

Fortunately, the black-ringed silkworm larvae has no idea about the quality of names. As long as the owner is happy, it will follow suit.

Perhaps signing the contract consumed too much energy. After a while, Ayou sent a message of hunger through the spiritual link. Russell quickly summoned it and put it back in the incubator.

After being strengthened by the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, Ayou’s appetite has greatly increased. The ordinary mulberry leaves she feeds every day are also particularly sweet, and her eating speed is much faster than that of her companions.

Looking at the growth progress bar swaying with Ayou and his friends as they ate mulberry leaves, Russell suddenly discovered a problem.

Looking at the black-ringed celestial silkworm larvae in the store, which were generally more than halfway through the growth process, he did not see any ghost-attributed energy bar progress bar at all. Referring to the record in the ”Compendium of Pet Encyclopedias” that black-ringed celestial silkworms will emit black gas when they spin cocoons, he It is speculated that the ghostly properties of the UFO Hawkmoth are probably formed slowly after forming a cocoon.

Perhaps it is for this reason that the conventional ghost skills that UFO Hawk Moth can learn are all low-level skills such as dark eyes, frightening shadow, and resentment.

His own attributes are low, and the skills he has learned are not very powerful, so he will inevitably be scratched when facing enemies.

”If you try to increase the proportion of ghost attributes during the larval stage, will you be able to master high-power ghost skills?”

Along this line of thinking, Russell seems to have found the general direction of cultivating Ayou at this stage.

Of course, the relationship between a pet beast and its master is more like a partnership than a slave relationship of absolute obedience. Forcing a pet beast to do something it does not want to do will only be counterproductive, so it is also important to seek Ayou’s opinion.

Reaching out and knocking Ayou, who was immersed in eating, Russell asked it seriously:

”Do you want to try the ghost cultivation materials?”

”rustle--!”

Unlike when it was named, it was nonchalant and had an attitude of ”as long as you are happy”, this time Russell felt strong approval from the swinging movements of Ayou’s insect body.

The biological instinct tells it that eating more things with ghost energy will be of great benefit to itself. But as a larva, it has no hunting ability at all. All it can do is try to eat more mulberry leaves so that it can grow up and form a cocoon quickly. .

”Where should I find suitable materials...”

Now that Ayou agrees, the next main problem is to collect ghost-type materials for it to eat.

Considering the current situation of the Imperial Insect House, it was unaffordable to buy it. After thinking for a moment, Russell took out his mobile phone and entered a series of key words in the search bar such as ”ghost cultivation materials, free whoring, easy to obtain, and around Senluo City” word.
