Chapter 346: Nanomachine Modification

In less than five minutes, the white mouse had perished. The cause of death was not its appearance, but damage to its brain nerves.

Tang Rui carefully removed the white mouse’s remains and introduced a new one.

“Red Lotus, eliminate the virus in this white mouse’s body. You’ll oversee the nanomachines.”

“Understood, Master.”

On the holographic projection, Red Lotus precisely marked all the viruses in the white mice’s bodies.

Then, he effectively controlled the nanomachines to eradicate the virus.

With Red Lotus’s guidance, the precision and efficiency of the nanomachines had significantly improved.

However, challenges persisted, particularly in handling the remnants of the virus. It was rather chaotic.

Their only function seemed to be virus destruction and disintegration.

The nanomachines disregarded the remnants post-destruction, casting them aside.

Usually, such dead cellular tissue would be naturally expelled through the body’s metabolism.

Yet, not all remains could be eliminated this way.

Crushing the entangled tissues was manageable, but their expulsion posed a challenge.

Moreover, the nanomachines’ method was to destroy affected tissues. However, some tissues required not only destruction but also functional restoration.

This was beyond the nanomachines’ current capabilities.

Through the sacrificial demise of three white mice,

Tang Rui solidified his hypothesis, but realized the current nanomachines were insufficient for saving the employee’s mother.

He withdrew a syringe filled with nanomachines, and commenced its enhancement.

A golden light emanated.

The system had upgraded the nanomachines.

Externally, they appeared unchanged, still resembling silvery-white liquids.

After reviewing the system panel, Tang Rui addressed Red Lotus, “Red Lotus, can you replicate these nanomachines?”

“Certainly, Master.”

“Then produce them. Dispatch them here once completed.”

Ten minutes passed.

A robot delivered a small box to the laboratory.

Contained within were 20 vials of the medical repair nanomachines.

Tang Rui selected one vial and injected its contents into a white mouse.

He then placed the mouse within the equipment.

This time, the nanomachines’ approach was different. After eliminating the virus, they would transport the viral remnants to metabolic organs for expulsion from the body.

If an organ suffered functional damage due to extensive tissue removal, the organ risked destruction.

The nanomachines would then fill these gaps, restoring the organ’s functionality.

In essence, these nanomachines were more than mere robots; they resembled metallic cells.

Specifically, metallic stem cells.

They could substitute for most bodily cells, particularly those irreplicable, like cardiac muscle cells.

The nanomachines could compensate for heart function loss due to damaged heart muscle cells.

They could even substitute for a significant portion of the immune system’s functions.

However, the nanomachines couldn’t replace cells involved in energy conversion, hormone secretion, stem cell division, among other functions.

But this achievement was substantial.

It fulfilled Tang Rui’s requirements.

Essentially, for patient treatment, these medical nanomachines were perfectly adequate.

It could be asserted that…

With an injection of to million units of nanomachines,

unless it was a fatal injury instantaneously,

common chronic illnesses or loss of internal organ function would not be life-threatening.

“Red Lotus, if we administer these nanomachines preemptively, would our survival rate significantly increase if we were injured on the battlefield?” Tang Rui queried.

“I’m sorry, Master. That would not be the case,” Red Lotus promptly responded.

“Why is that?” Tang Rui inquired, perplexed.

“Master, considering the current weapon power and individual armor coefficients, weapons that are non-lethal won’t damage the armor. Those that can damage protective gear will, in most cases, be fatal upon impact, except for limb injuries,” explained Red Lotus.

That made sense.

“Are they suitable for treating illnesses?”

“Absolutely, Master. Apart from congenital diseases and genetic mutations, the nanomachines can effectively treat most conditions.”

Tang Rui observed the lively white mouse displayed on the holographic projection and suddenly pondered a new application.

Could these devices enhance organ functions, like the kidneys?

“Red Lotus, remove a section of the mouse’s kidney and let the nanomachines substitute it. I want to assess their effectiveness.”

“Right away, Master.”

Under Red Lotus’s command, numerous nanomachines converged around the mouse’s waist and commenced their operation.

Cellular destruction ensued.

Capillaries burst.

The mouse, in agonizing pain, thrashed about wildly inside the equipment.

“Red Lotus, sever the neural connections to the mouse’s kidney.”

“Immediately, Master.”

In an instant, the mouse ceased struggling.

With its neural connections severed, it felt no pain, even as its kidney was being dismantled.

After thirty minutes, a Cyber Kidney materialized within the mouse.

To test the nanomachines’ repair capability further, Tang Rui administered eight doses of 10 million nanomachines each into the mice, allowing these robotic entities to replace the kidney’s cellular structure.

The outcome was promising.

Post-implantation of the Cyber Kidney, the mouse exhibited no adverse reactions. Its physiological parameters remained stable.

However, the kidney had indeed transformed into a mechanical one composed of nanomachines.

“Red Lotus, continue producing nanomachines and commence full-body replacement for the mice.”

“Master, it should be noted that brain cells are beyond the nanomachines’ replacement capabilities.”

“Then replace everything else that’s possible and observe the results.”

“As you command, Master.”

Hong Lian meticulously disconnected the central nervous system of the white mouse, following which Tang Rui initiated the injection process.

Sequentially, he administered the nanomachine solution into the mice.

The nanomachines began substituting various body parts of the mice, including bones, internal organs, muscles, and skin, from the inside out.

However, before half the body was replaced, the mouse’s system became erratic, and hormonal levels fluctuated wildly.

The pituitary gland emitted continuous biological signals.

“Master, an anomaly has arisen within the mouse’s body.”

“What’s the cause?”

“Currently unknown.”

“Reconnect the mouse’s central nervous system. Halt the replacement process and evaluate the consequences.”

“As you wish, Master..”
