old feng, upon hearing that mr. tang had something for him to handle, immediately straightened himself.

“mr. tang, you can just tell me what needs to be done. i’ll follow your instructions without question,” feng yuanxing promptly replied.

“good, don’t worry about the compensation; i won’t treat you unfairly. however, the place you’re going to this time is a bit chaotic.”

mr. tang nodded in satisfaction at feng yuanxing’s attitude.

this was what made a great employee.

“no problem, besides our place, how many places in the world aren’t chaotic?” feng yuanxing said nonchalantly.

he had experienced gunfights and battles during his last visit to the middle east; what was a little chaos to him?

“this time, you’re going to africa.”

“africa? where in africa?”

when feng yuanxing heard the word “africa,” his heart skipped a beat.

“the democratic republic of congo.”

gulp.

after hearing the word “congo,” feng yuanxing began to feel uneasy.

was that place really so chaotic?

wasn’t a war raging on over there?

most people didn’t know, and there wasn’t much news coverage, but as company employees, they were kept in the dark.

mr. tang’s elder cousin was even kidnapped by local tribes.

if it weren’t for mr. tang sending people to rescue him, he might not have made it.

now that mr. tang was sending him to congo; it seemed like a death sentence.

“if it’s too difficult…”

mr. tang saw feng yuanxing’s silence and didn’t intend to force him.

after all, that place frightened everyone.

“no, no, it’s not too difficult at all. mr. tang, just tell me what to do when 1 get there.”

feng yuanxing clenched his teeth and reluctantly agreed.

“you don’t have to do much, mainly just eat and drink.”

“eat and drink? entertain clients?”

“no, treat them as leaders, from the heart. report to them regularly, whether there are issues or not.”

feng yuanxing hesitated.

“is there a problem?”

“no… no problem. mr. tang, rest assured, i know how to handle this.”

“good, take a look at the list of people.”

“alright.”

feng yuanxing’s heart raced as he received the list.

my oh my.

it was filled with high-ranking government officials, influential military figures, and heads of several departments, all of whom held sway in the drc.

“old feng, here’s the deal: we’ve already established a foothold in that area, and there won’t be any fighting.

“however, these people are not on good terms with us. they can’t do much to us, but it’s a standoff at the moment.

“when you go there, you’ll take over a molybdenum mine.

“it’s not registered under our company’s name.

“you don’t need to oversee the mining operations; you just need to go to the people on the list, have meals with them, drink tea, and report issues to them regularly, treating them as leaders.”

after mr. tang finished explaining, feng yuanxing put down the list. he was familiar with this situation.

“don’t worry, mr. tang, i know what to do.”

upon hearing mr. tang’s words, feng yuanxing understood his intentions. even though he didn’t want to use his expertise, mr. tang had assigned him this task, and he had no choice but to apologize to the people on the list.

“you are the expert in this field, i won’t say much. go home and rest for two days. i’ll have someone arrange your documents, and you’ll depart in two days.” mr. tang nodded, showing no doubt about feng yuanxing’s professionalism. this aspect had already been well demonstrated by the middle eastern fiasco.

“all right, mr. tang, i’ll head back now.”

after saying this, feng yuanxing left.

on mr. tang’s end, he had lin chao use military channels to handle the paperwork for feng yuanxing. he also had the finance department deposit 1 million us dollars into feng yuanxing’s foreign bank account for operational expenses. if it wasn’t enough, more would be added, and any surplus would be feng yuanxing’s. additionally, mr. tang would provide him with an extra service fee. this wasn’t a company matter; it was his personal affair. when you ask someone to do a job, you have to provide the funds. after all, they were risking their lives.

two days passed in the blink of an eye. mr. tang saw off old feng as he boarded the plane and watched it take off.

over ten hours later, old feng landed, passed through customs, and was met by local state-owned enterprise personnel, all arranged with the help of the military.

in the following days, old feng didn’t rush into action. instead, he visited the mining area, gathered information from the locals, and familiarized himself with the situation.

on the fourth day, old feng drove to the gangguo government building.

“minister, the head of a chinese mining company wishes to meet with you. he’s already here. would you like to see him?”

the head of the chinese mining company wanted to meet him? what was going on? he had taken money from the french and opposed china, so why would the head of a chinese company come to see him? something was fishy.

“bring him in.”

the minister thought for a moment and decided to meet the visitor. in any case, a meeting couldn’t hurt.

soon, feng yuanxing arrived at the minister’s office.

“hello, minister tado. i am the head of qingguang mining. i apologize for disrupting your work.”

“no need to apologize. you haven’t disrupted my work. but i’m curious, what’s the purpose of your visit?”

the minister, in a straightforward manner, asked why he was there. he didn’t want to engage in conversation with chinese people; it made his head spin, and he didn’t know what to say next. it was nice that the french were straightforward. they handled everything with money, and it worked out well.

“i want to make money,” feng yuanxing stated directly.

“make money? i want to make money too. so why are you really here?”

feng yuanxing was a little exasperated to see the minister’s bewildered expression. he had made himself clear, but the minister still didn’t understand.

“minister, what i mean is i only want to operate a mine here and make money. i don’t want any disturbances. if you can assist with that, i’m willing to share some of the profits with you and your side.”

“i see.”

the minister understood now. this was a bribe; he didn’t want to get involved in political struggles, so he came to offer money to keep things peaceful. it made sense. he didn’t want trouble.

“alright, if you don’t want any trouble, you’ve made the right choice. i accept your offer.”

this way, both sides got what they wanted.

one came bearing a gift, and the other simply needed to receive it. an agreement was quickly reached.

that evening, feng yuanxing hosted several key members of the minister’s side.

even though the highest-ranking official didn’t attend, he was informed about feng yuanxing’s situation.

two days later, feng yuanxing found the highest-ranking military official and asked for assistance in escorting a shipment of ore, preferably with additional personnel.

the generous employer led to over a hundred military personnel being dispatched to assist.

that night, feng yuanxing treated the general to dinner, and they had a great time.

the general held feng yuanxing in high regard.

even though he was the financier, feng yuanxing addressed the general as “general” and “leader.” this pleased the general greatly.

the next day, the general suddenly wanted to go to the shooting range for target practice with a handgun. however, an accidental gunshot hit a steel plate, causing a ricochet that struck the general in the temple, resulting in a fatal headshot.

after receiving the news, feng yuanxing marked an ‘x’ next to the general’s name.

in the following period, feng yuanxing began to connect with other individuals, offering money, dining with them, and seeking their advice. however, the luck of these individuals was terrible. accidents occurred in various unusual and bizarre ways.

people died from falling objects, choking on food, tripping on stairs, and hitting nails, and even a person walking on the street was killed when a large truck’s tire exploded, propelling a steel rim that struck the person.

all sorts of strange and peculiar deaths occurred in the city one after another..
