tang rui stared at the model in front of him for a while.

he always felt something was off, but he couldn’t pinpoint what exactly.

oh well.

he stopped thinking about it.

“red lotus, upload this external design and theoretical parameters to the confidential database.”

“sure, master, uploading now.”

tang rui checked the time and then returned from the laboratory to his villa. as for the evaluation of this transport aircraft, that was left to the higher-ups. when the people at the database received tang rui’s uploaded theoretical design of the transport aircraft, they quickly informed the relevant authorities. in less than an hour, a large group of people gathered in the confidential meeting room to begin evaluating the design of this transport aircraft.

they were not evaluating the feasibility of the design—whether it could be manufactured was tang rui’s concern.

whether the air force needed it was what they were evaluating.

and this went on the entire night.

the next day, tang rui had finished breakfast and was taking a walk in the factory area when lin chao came running to him, handing him the evaluation results.

“the aircraft is too large, and its performance significantly exceeds the requirements.”

tang rui’s mouth twitched as he looked over the evaluation results.

he had the same thought last night.

but the authorities only provided a few parameters and didn’t specify the size of the aircraft.

after this evaluation, however, it appeared the authorities had provided some restrictions.

the aircraft’s length should not exceed 80 meters, with a payload of 400 tons being sufficient, and the cargo hold dimensions needed to exceed 40x8x5, without the need to make it too large.

“i finally understand why i felt something was off last night.”

after reviewing the evaluation, tang rui suddenly realized his mistake. he hadn’t considered the takeoff and landing restrictions.

he had only considered the takeoff distance.

but he forgot about the weight of the aircraft.

a plane weighing over a thousand tons couldn’t land at regular airports, let alone in field conditions.

the moment the plane landed, the tires would burst, and the landing gear would bury itself in the ground.

so, the overall weight of the aircraft had to be kept under 600 tons, and even 600 tons were too much—500 tons would be better.

with the incredible tensile strength of new composite materials, this should be achievable, though the aircraft structure needed to be redesigned.

not just that, but the fuel situation had to be considered as well.

for intercontinental flights, the aircraft needed at least several tens of tons of fuel.

“lin ge, is there anything else?” tang rui asked after setting down the evaluation report.

“nothing else,” lin chao shook his head.

“alright, i’ll go back to work then.”

tang rui returned to the laboratory to start a new project.

this time, he wasn’t working on the aircraft’s body but something very special. the seg unit.

this was some sort of anti-gravity device.

of course, it wasn’t truly anti-gravity. humanity had yet to fully understand gravity, let alone anti-gravity.

this device didn’t counter gravity; it countered magnetic fields.

“red lotus, prepare the components to manufacture the seg unit for me. i want to create an anti-gravity device.”

“of course, master, red lotus is preparing the components. estimated time: 25 minutes.”

red lotus controlled the robots, bringing the components available in the warehouse while manufacturing the rest.

tang rui arrived at his workbench and began assembling.

an hour later, a basin-sized seg unit was complete.

did you think this could achieve anti-gravity?

it couldn’t.

to make the seg unit levitate, a magnetic field needed to be created beneath it.

red lotus quickly set up the magnetic field below the device.

tang rui activated the seg device.

hum!

as the magnetic field was generated, the seg unit began to levitate.

tang rui glanced at the system panel.

[item: pseudo-electromagnetic field anti-gravity device]

[experience: 0/180]

[origin points: 1552.68]

no need to hesitate; he selected “enhance” directly.

a blue light flashed.

enhancement complete.

[item: electromagnetic field anti-gravity device]

[experience: 0/5500]

[enhancements: magnetic field (specialized), coils (specialized), control (specialized), energy]

[attributes: 60% increase in magnetic field strength, 60% increase in magnetic field range, 60% increase in magnetic field control precision] [origin points: 1488.68]

after viewing the enhanced system panel, tang rui instructed red lotus to test the device’s performance.

half an hour later, the test was complete.

the magnetic field produced by this device could counteract up to 50 tons of weight. beyond 50 tons, the effect decreased gradually, becoming entirely ineffective at 500 tons.

“red lotus, have you extracted the blueprints for the device?”

“they’ve been extracted, master.”

“can it be mass-produced?”

“yes, it can, though manufacturing would be difficult, and production can’t be hurried.”

as long as it could be produced, the speed didn’t matter.

“red lotus, install this seg unit on the white emperor.”

tang rui told red lotus.

“alright, master. do you need to modify the vertical takeoff and landing system?”

“yes, remove all the internal pipes of the vertical takeoff and landing system, shut off the original pipe openings… don’t close them, remove the original grille and replace it with an electrostatic rocket engine,” tang rui said in excitement as an idea suddenly struck him.

“alright, master. do you need to adjust the internal structure in the place of the removed pipes and equipment?”

“no need. install a super-low-temperature alloy container in the available space and use it to store liquid oxygen. then connect the liquid oxygen pipeline to the high-pressure combustion chamber of the engine and calculate the internal structure,” tang rui instructed red lotus.

“calculation complete. after removing the equipment, there’s still 35% of the remaining space, which won’t affect the internal structure or axial balance.” “in that case, upgrade the internal pressure adjustment device and add a space life support system.”

“recompute the internal structure; calculation complete. there’s 5% redundant space, and all the removed space has been used.”

“good, proceed with the modification.”

“commencing modification. estimated time for modification: six hours and seventeen minutes.”

several robots came to the side of the white emperor fighter, extended their mechanical arms, and began the modification.

once the modification was complete, the white emperor would be a fully functional aerospace fighter, capable of reaching space.

red lotus was quite fast with the modifications.

tonight, he could take it out for a spin in the sky.

after having lunch, tang rui went home and took a nap to rest up.

that evening, li shuyao had cooked and she called tang rui for dinner.

“you go ahead and eat; i’m not hungry.”

tang rui changed his clothes and said while getting ready.

li shuyao saw tang rui putting on his nano load-bearing suit and realized he was going flying.

“do you have something urgent?” li shuyao asked.

“no, just going for a spin in the sky.”

“…” li shuyao rolled her eyes.

why would one go for a joyride in the sky for no reason?

but she couldn’t be bothered to argue.

because in this aspect, she couldn’t control him. tang rui wouldn’t listen to her.

“don’t stay out too late; come back early.”

“alright.”

tang rui changed into his flight suit, took the elevator to the lab, and put on his combat armor.

this set of combat armor had also been modified by red lotus, with added propulsion systems.

when in space, this enabled him to fly around like iron man.

arriving at the assembly workshop, the white emperor suborbital fighter had been completely modified.

a robot carrying a special thermal container came to tang rui.

“master, these are the washed fruits, all packed,” red lotus informed tang rui. “give them to me.”

tang rui took the thermal container and placed it in the back seat of the cockpit.

if he had to go, he couldn’t go empty-handed.

a basket of fruit sounded like the right gift.

delivering fruit 500 kilometers away was indeed a small gesture with deep meaning..
