“don’t worry. i’ll understand the situation through the military’s channels. as long as he’s fine, everything will be fine.”

tang rui hung up the phone and went to look for lin chao.

“brother lin, contact the higher-ups and tell them that i want to ask about the congo situation and what happened at the mine.”

“okay, i’ll contact him now.”

when lin chao heard that, the severity of the matter instantly hit him and he called immediately.

in less than five minutes, the news came back.

to put it simply, the french had made their move.

but the target wasn’t the mine, it was their infrastructure in the entire congo.

this was different from what tang rui thought.

he thought that it was a little trick hatched by the americans, but it turned out that it wasn’t.

this time, it really wasn’t american interference.

when china reached an agreement with the u.s., the main issue was about the congolese region.

the signed agreement, however, was pretty much written on toilet paper.

although such an agreement was negotiated privately without any written documents, everyone still followed the rules.

such a thing could happen to anyone.

if any party didn’t follow the rules on this matter, things would quickly turn into an ugly mess.

so this time, the u.s. really didn’t do anything. it was the french. although the americans were involved, you couldn’t say that they directly manipulated anything.

the french intervened because they wanted the congolese resources.

there was nothing much to say. whether or not we could protect the congolese spoils was our own problem.

each time the mine fell into troubled waters, it would never be the french foreign legion, but a local tribe that was responsible.

however, it was a known fact that the tribe had direct ties to the french, who had provided them with firearms.

this was an old trick.

by supporting the local tribes, they would arouse their greed and let them be the ones who’d charge into the battlefield.

when the tribe conquered the place, they could set up companies to reap the local benefits.

as for why no one cared…

it was because you couldn’t send troops over. if any tribe in the country were to resist, you’d be accused of interfering in the internal affairs of another country.

thus, it wouldn’t look good if our peace-keeping forces were seen to interfere.

of course, this didn’t mean that we didn’t have our own proxies; the other party simply acted very quickly.

the current situation there was very complicated. it was not only the problem of the local tribes, but also the inclination of the government.

but this had nothing to do with tang rui.

he was more concerned about his brother-in-law’s problem. he could rest assured that no matter how the two sides fought, they still had to abide by the unspoken rules.

the local tribes did not dare to kill foreigners.

in the early years, the more gung-ho and trigger-happy leaders who’d cause wanton massacres each time they held a gun saw their entire tribes go the way of the dodo.

now, the tribes there all understood the unspoken rule. they could fight, but they couldn’t touch foreigners.

“when can we go in?”

tang rui frowned and asked.

“it’s hard to say. the people above are also busy. more than one place has been attacked,” lin chao said helplessly.

“tell the higher-ups to get the embassy there to prepare two fuel trucks filled with jet fuel.

“1’11 send two special forces teams over to rescue and return all the expats,” tang rui thought for a moment and said, proposing a method.

“alright, 1 understand,” lin chao nodded and made another call to report to the higher-ups.

a few minutes later, lin chao hung up the phone and said to tang rui, “the higher-ups have agreed. the local situation and mission information will be sent over immediately.

“the fuel truck needs three hours of preparation. the special forces can set off in two hours, but you can’t go.”

“alright, 1 got it.” tang rui nodded after listening.

he would definitely not go.

it wasn’t a laughing matter.

it was a battlefield over there. going over and joining the fight would only slow the forces down.

this was something he was very clear of.

“red lotus, control the drone and set off. go there to collect information. the main point is to find the person.”

after leaving lin chao’s place, tang rui arranged for red lotus to do things.

just because he didn’t want to go over didn’t mean that he couldn’t arrange for a drone to do the job.

with the light quantum information capture system and the scanning ability of the drone, even if someone was hidden in the basement, he could still find them.

“okay, master. red lotus is adding fuel to the drone. it is estimated to leave in eight minutes.”

tang rui nodded after listening and went to find han shu, then told him about the situation.

“is two special forces teams enough? should we send more people over?” han shu asked after listening.

ii

it’s not that 1 don’t want to send more people, but the small transport plane can’t hold so many people,” tang rui said helplessly.

“if that’s the case, then it’s fine. with the combat strength of our special forces team, two teams are enough to complete the mission.”

han shu felt a little regretful after hearing this, but it was fine to send two teams over. it was a good opportunity to test it in actual combat.

tweet tweet tweet…

the emergency whistle sounded.

ten special forces squads and 120 people quickly gathered.

“team one and team two, follow me. the other teams are dismissed.”

after han shu finished speaking, he turned around and left.

team one and team two, the two teams that arrived first, immediately followed han shu into the mountain.

tang rui was waiting for them at the entrance.

then, he brought them to a conference room.

“serve the dishes,” tang rui spoke out.

“yes, master.”

red lotus’s virtual projection appeared, giving the soldiers of the two special forces squads a fright.

a few robots entered.

their mechanical arms were carrying trays filled with food.

“you guys eat first. we’ll be going overseas for a mission.”

tang rui then waited for news from red lotus.

the drone had been installed with a seg unit. it could fly through the atmosphere and reach the congo in 15 minutes.

during this period of time, the soldiers of the special forces team could finish their dinner.

ten minutes later, the soldiers of the special forces team had already finished their dinner and were sitting upright, eagerly waiting for the mission briefing.

“master, the information has been collected.”

tang rui nodded and waved at the air. a huge projection screen appeared in front of everyone.

“you will be carrying out a rescue mission. the targets are in three different places.”

tang rui said while controlling the projection screen, displaying the mission location.

on the screen, a three-dimensional simulated map of the mine appeared. it showed the structure of the houses, the location of the hostages, and the enemy’s deployment.

all the enemies were marked, including the weapons in their hands.

every single bit of information was displayed on the big screen, plain for everyone to see.

both han shu and the soldiers of the special forces widened their eyes.

just now, they were still wondering why they had to wait for news.

why didn’t he just tell them the mission briefing

the people were in shock as the ultra-detailed information unfolded before them.

was this even a mission briefing?

why did it feel like he was acting in a movie? this mission briefing was on a whole different level. even a movie shoot couldn’t capture this much detail.

this made them feel a little uncomfortable.

“this is the first rescue site, the mine.

“the hostages are in a room on the left side of the third floor of the mine’s office building. there are a total of 37 enemies guarding the mine. most of them ae equipped with ak-74 rifles, with only rpgs as their heavy firepower.

“the enemy closest to the mine is 12 kilometers away, where their tribe is located. however, it will take at least 8 minutes to support the mine from there.

“other than that, the enemy lacks any form of anti-air weapons or support. as long as the enemy can be taken care of within eight minutes, a safe retreat is entirely possible.

“if you have any questions about the first rescue location, you can ask them.”

tang rui introduced the situation to the soldiers of the special forces squad according to the information collected by red lotus.

“sir, how do we get there? where do we attack from when we arrive? where is the evacuation point?”

the captain of the first team asked.

after tang rui finished listening, he discovered that he had forgotten the key issue.

“you” be flying there. the plane will drop you directly at the mine and help you deal with the enemies outside.

fast-rope down from the plane, take care of the enemies in the building, and then bring the rescued people on.”

“sir, will we be using a helicopter?”

11

no, it’s a supersonic stealth tactical transport aircraft with vertical take-off and landing capabilities,” tang rui shook his head and said.

h

11

the people in the conference room were all messed with by tang rui.

supersonic stealth tactical transport aircraft?

they had heard of strategic bombers before, but this was the first time he had heard of a tactical transport plane.

“any other questions?”

everyone shook their heads.

“alright, let’s talk about the second rescue location, the warehouse of the town.

they are all trapped in this warehouse. the enemy has…”

tang rui began to explain the remaining two mission locations.

after hearing this, the special forces team expressed that there was no problem.

the information was too detailed.

moreover, in terms of equipment, their firepower was even more overwhelming.

if they couldn’t even do such a small thing well, they should stop being soldiers and go home to farm.

the only challenge of the entire rescue mission was to ensure that the hostages were not harmed.

“alright, the mission briefing is over. when you arrive at the location, our aerial reconnaissance aircraft will provide you with intelligence support.

“everything you see will be displayed on your tactical helmets, so your mission is very simple.

“charge in, take out the enemy, rescue the hostages, and then retreat. am i clear?”

after tang rui waved his hand to turn off the projection screen, he said to everyone.

“understood!”

the soldiers of the two teams stood up and replied with gusto.

tang rui nodded after listening and then gave the seat to han shu.

after all, he was the commander.

moreover, he had just finished learning. the promotion order was probably on the way, so he definitely had to say a few words at this time.

h

i’ll stop here. go back and check your equipment. we’ll leave in half an hour.

dismissed.”

“yes.”

the two special forces teams left.

go back and put on your equipment and check it.

twenty minutes later, on the runway of the airport, a black triangular transport plane with wings above the body was parked there quietly.

the back door of the airport opened.

the soldiers of the two special forces teams boarded the transport plane one after another.

tang rui, lin chao, and han shu stood at the side and watched them board the plane.

brother lin, why are you looking at me?”

tang rui felt lin chao’s gaze beside him and was a little speechless.

■i

no, you’re even more handsome today.” lin chao said with a smile.

‘don’t you know why i’m staring at you?’ he thought to himself.

tang rui naturally knew. it was all because the higher-ups were afraid that he would run over too.

they didn’t trust him at all.

apparently, that was their impression of him.

sob, sob, sob…

with the roar of the engine, the transport plane glided on the runway and took off.

as for the pilots, han shu didn’t ask, and tang rui didn’t say either.

this was because it was unmanned and red lotus was controlling the transport plane.

“let’s go to the command hall..”
