Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

45: Chapter 45 Staying in the Deep SeaApproaching his rapidly falling body, Lin Sheng’s mind stirred, and his consciousness dove straight in.

”Hiss...”

A wave of intense pain suddenly surged from Lin Sheng’s body; it was a sensation as if every bone in his entire body had been shattered.

In just an instant, Lin Sheng’s consciousness was ejected by his body.

Lin Sheng followed his falling body while thinking of a solution.

A sudden idea came to him.

”System, 100,000 evolution points, Ordinary Evolution.”

[Ding]

[The Host’s consciousness cannot control the body; Evolution cannot be performed.]

”Then help me use evolution points to repair my body.”

[The Host’s consciousness cannot control the body; repair cannot be performed.]

”Damn it! Why didn’t you mention this before?”

Lin Sheng’s consciousness questioned the system loudly.

The system did not respond to this.

Lin Sheng felt helpless, but then he suddenly thought of something and muttered in his heart: Where will I land? Will I be turned into ash?

Because of the pain just now, Lin Sheng had momentarily forgotten that he still had ”Regeneration Cells.”

To him, this talent was like ”rebirth from a drop of blood.”

As long as some flesh remained, Lin Sheng could use it to reshape his body.

[The meteorite’s landing point is in the sea, and since the meteorite is constantly wearing down during its fall, it won’t be enough to destroy my body.]

As the information surfaced in Lin Sheng’s mind, he felt relieved.

Following behind his body, he watched with relief as it was carried by the meteorite and smashed into the vast blue ocean.

During this time, Lin Sheng recalled the usage of the ”Nuclear Thruster” from before.

Under normal flight conditions, the evolution points obtained through ”Stellar Energy” happened to balance out with the evolution points consumed during flight.

As the speed continued to increase, the required evolution points would also increase.

When the speed reached a certain threshold, Lin Sheng’s tail would send him a burning sensation.

Given his current physical condition, even with enough evolution points, he couldn’t run the ”Nuclear Thruster” at full power.

To use the ”Nuclear Thruster” without reservation, one needed not only ample evolution points but also a powerful physical body.

...

Having been worn down by Earth’s atmosphere, by the time the meteorite was about to hit the sea, it had shrunk from its original size of five hundred meters when it first hit Lin Sheng to being smaller than his body now.

Lin Sheng’s body was pinned beneath the meteorite, and they crashed into the sea together.

”Bang!”

After a loud boom, waves dozens of meters high instantly radiated outward from Lin Sheng’s impact point.

Lin Sheng’s body endured a second impact, but his evolved physique remained resilient and did not break apart.

Lin Sheng’s consciousness followed his body downward until the surroundings became pitch black, and only then did he realize the descent had stopped.

This was the seabed.

At this moment, the meteorite was still pressing down on Lin Sheng’s back. He decided that as soon as his body recovered, he would swallow the meteorite immediately.

Once everything had settled down, Lin Sheng finally gave the command to the system:

”system grandfather, convert the evolution points into energy and let the ’Regeneration Cells’ repair my body.”

The system’s response this time made Lin Sheng breathe a sigh of relief.

[Ding]

[Converting evolution points into energy. Talent ’Regeneration Cells’ is being activated.]

After the system’s voice faded, Lin Sheng’s originally withered body slowly began to fill out.

At the same time, his evolution points were being rapidly consumed.

Because the seabed was too deep, Lin Sheng couldn’t see how his body’s recovery was progressing.

However, Lin Sheng had ”Omniscience,” so he would know the moment his body recovered.

After consuming over 1 million evolution points, a piece of information surfaced in Lin Sheng’s mind:

[It is done.]

At the same time, the system stopped converting evolution points.

Lin Sheng’s consciousness dove back into his body.

This time, he was not ejected, nor did he feel any pain.

Probably because he was originally a Salamander-like Creature, Lin Sheng’s breathing was unaffected underwater.

He stood up and pushed away the meteorite pressing down on him, then scanned his surroundings.

It was pitch black all around; Lin Sheng couldn’t even see his own body clearly.

Lin Sheng previously had a talent for enhancing vision, but because its level was too low, it had been optimized away after his Evolution.

Lin Sheng pondered whether he should undergo a Targeted Evolution for a vision-enhancing talent.

The ocean was rich in species. Although Lin Sheng had ended up on the seabed by accident, he didn’t want to leave so soon.

Anyway, he had marked the Small Scorpion Ranch, and since those little scorpions weren’t ready for harvest yet, he could spend this time in the ocean.

Lin Sheng had thought about developing in the ocean before, but fearful fantasies about the deep had stopped him at the time.

After all, Lin Sheng was very weak back then, and he didn’t want to accidentally become a meal for some ”Cthulhu” that might pop out of nowhere.

But things were different now. Lin Sheng’s body length already exceeded 200 meters, ten times larger than the largest known creature in the ocean from his previous life—the blue whale.

Although this size only allowed for barely enough self-preservation in this era, Lin Sheng still wanted to take a chance in the ocean.

Even if he encountered an unbeatable opponent, his ability to fly would allow him to escape quickly.

Having figured this out, Lin Sheng directly ordered the system:

”System, Targeted Evolution. Evolve a talent that allows my eyes to see clearly in the deep sea. It must be at the Natural Grade.”

Lin Sheng’s evolution points were quite abundant now, and he no longer cared for talents below the Natural Grade.

[Ding]

[According to the Host’s wishes, this Evolution will consume 1.34 million evolution points.]

Since it was a physical talent, the evolution points required for this Evolution weren’t that many.

Lin Sheng waved his hand dismissively...

”Begin Evolution.”

[Ding]

[This Evolution will last for one solar day of this planet. Please wait patiently, Host.]

Just as the system finished speaking, Lin Sheng fell into a deep sleep.

The deep sea was pitch black, and since even his consciousness couldn’t see the surroundings clearly, there was no need for Lin Sheng to check the situation in advance.

...

[Ding]

[Host’s Evolution is complete.]

[Obtained Talent: Super Vision (Natural Grade)]

[Super Vision: Your eyesight has reached the peak of natural organisms. In the absence of absolute obstructions, you can see everything within your line of sight clearly.]

Lin Sheng opened his eyes again.

His eyes flickered with two bright lights in the deep sea, and the previously pitch-black ocean before him suddenly became bright.

Checking his surroundings, Lin Sheng found that besides some coral, there didn’t seem to be any danger around him.
