Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

21: Chapter 21 The Tumor on the PlainLin Sheng currently had a little over 200,000 evolution points remaining. While this seemed like a lot, it still provided him with a somewhat low sense of security at his current level.

Therefore, Lin Sheng decided to sweep the periphery once before heading toward the central area of the Plain.

The largest creatures on the periphery were about 50 meters in size. Lin Sheng’s body length was only half that, so he was quite cautious even while sweeping the periphery.

Over the next few days, Lin Sheng wandered the Sky every day, diving directly whenever he encountered a creature smaller than himself.

Once Lin Sheng became proficient with this form of attack, every strike was essentially guaranteed to yield results.

A few days passed, and Lin Sheng had harvested over a hundred thousand evolution points, but this alone was still not enough to head to the central area.

During these few days, Lin Sheng also took the time to visit the central area once.

But at that time, he had only made it halfway before turning back due to some irresistible force.

Because by the time he reached the halfway point, he had already encountered creatures a hundred meters long.

Faced with this situation, Lin Sheng had no choice but to give up on the idea of heading to the central area.

...

Now, Lin Sheng was caught in a dilemma.

He was considering whether to stay on this Plain or travel elsewhere.

If he stayed on the Plain, he could only move around the periphery; he couldn’t enter the interior at all.

But if he left the Plain for the outside world, Lin Sheng couldn’t guarantee he would be able to find this Plain again.

”That’s right! How could I have forgotten about this!”

Just then, Lin Sheng suddenly slapped his forehead.

Having always used ordinary Evolution, he had actually forgotten that the ”Evolution” talent had a nearly bug-like ability.

That was ”Targeted Evolution.”

According to Lin Sheng’s understanding of ”Targeted Evolution,” if he had enough evolution points, he could completely use them to buy talents through ”Targeted Evolution.”

”System, perform Targeted Evolution to evolve a talent that allows me to find a place I’ve been to before.”

”The consumed evolution points should not exceed my current reserves.”

Lin Sheng issued the command to the system.

[Ding]

[According to the Host’s wishes, this Evolution will consume a total of 80,645 evolution points. Does the Host wish to proceed?]

Seeing that it only required over eighty thousand evolution points, Lin Sheng immediately chose to continue.

[This Evolution will last for 1 solar day. Please wait patiently, Host.]

After finding a prime spot to lie down, Lin Sheng slowly closed his eyes.

...

[Ding]

[Host Evolution complete]

[Congratulations to the Host for obtaining the talent: Mark Tracking]

[Mark Tracking (Rare Grade): Can mark a location or creature. The Host can track the marked location or creature, with a maximum effective tracking distance of 80,000 kilometers]

Seeing the information for this newly acquired talent, Lin Sheng felt that the system really understood him.

This talent was exactly what Lin Sheng wanted.

Although there was a limit to the tracking distance, a maximum of 80,000 kilometers.

But one must know that the circumference of the Earth’s equator is only 40,000 kilometers.

Calculating it this way, as long as the marked object was still on Earth, he would be able to find it no matter where he was.

After learning how to use the talent, Lin Sheng marked the spot and left in one smooth motion.

This was merely a tactical retreat; once his body size reached a hundred meters, he would surely return with a kingly presence.

After leaving that Plain, Lin Sheng returned to his days of munching on leaves all day long.

In the beginning, Lin Sheng ate leaves to keep himself from starving.

But after his body length reached 20 meters, his purpose for eating leaves changed.

As everyone knows, plants use chloroplasts for photosynthesis.

And chloroplasts are mostly concentrated in the leaves of plants.

Although there were no true trees in the era Lin Sheng was in.

But these ferns still had chloroplasts.

Lin Sheng ate from morning to night; who knew if he might evolve chloroplasts one day?

As long as he could evolve chloroplasts, Lin Sheng could absorb the energy of the star, and his evolution points would surely skyrocket.

But however beautiful the imagination was, reality was equally tragic.

Because until now, Lin Sheng still hadn’t heard the system notification that he could perform an Evolution.

...

The Plain where Lin Sheng had previously stayed hadn’t changed at all because of his departure.

A few days later, a faint light shimmered once again in the center of the Plain.

This time, the light appeared during the day; under the sunlight, the shimmer wasn’t very noticeable.

But most of the creatures on the Plain still rushed toward the central area as if their lives depended on it.

The central area of the Plain was very different from other places.

The main difference was that its Ground was pale white.

Amidst this whiteness, a bottomless pit about a hundred meters in diameter was extremely eye-catching.

At the edge of the pit’s opening, countless milky-white fleshy roots spread out, gathering directly above the pit.

A blood-colored tumor emitting a faint, shimmering light was faintly visible among those tangled tentacles.

Judging from the situation in the central area, there was a high probability that the tumor was the source of the giant beasts’ agitation.

Sure enough, when the milky-white roots released the tumor, the hundred-meter-long giant beasts on the Plain instantly became restless.

They fought each other recklessly, each hoping to claim the tumor for themselves.

In an instant, severed limbs of giant beasts flew across the field.

After those severed limbs fell to the Ground, they would unknowingly ”sink” into the interior of the Plain.

Some flying exotic beasts trying to scavenge were immediately entangled by the milky-white roots and dragged into the bottomless abyss as soon as they approached the tumor.

The battle lasted for nearly half a day, but almost no remains of the giant beasts could be seen on the battlefield.

By sunset, the milky-white roots at the top of the pit quickly retracted, completely enveloping the blood-colored tumor.

After this, the surviving giant beasts gradually ceased their frenzy and became much quieter.

Some that didn’t belong here also left.

But just then, an untimely sound of clashing metal suddenly rang out in the air.

Hearing this soul-piercing sound, even the hundred-meter-long giant beasts shuddered.

Their bodies trembled as they lay prostrate on the Ground in unease.

Then, several bodies extended from the Sky, their sharp claws reaching directly for the blood-colored tumor wrapped in the milky-white roots.

If Lin Sheng were still here, he would surely recognize that the newcomer was the Benefactor who had given him gifts twice.

The roots seemed to sense danger, and the nearby deep pit immediately closed up.

However, it was already too late.

Because before that, the monster had already extended three of its bodies into the opening.

The monster’s claws churned inside the hole, and it soon pulled out a blood-red tumor.

The tumor was still stained with some milky-white substance that looked like blood.

But it didn’t care at all and tossed it directly into its mouth.

Then the monster glanced at the giant beasts it had terrified, didn’t pay them much mind, and flew directly into the Sky.

If one looked closely, they would feel that Lin Sheng had hit the jackpot.

Because the direction it was flying in was exactly the direction Lin Sheng had taken when he left.
