37: Chapter 37 LegacyFrom Lin Sheng’s perspective, Eighteen flew into mid-air as if experiencing a ”final burst of life,” then opened its mouth and spat out a cloud of milky-white air.

The moment this airflow touched the scorpion tail, the Giant Scorpion’s tail immediately went limp.

Wherever the airflow passed, the tail dangled like a noodle; no matter how the Giant Scorpion thrashed its body, it was to no avail.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng was shocked and extremely curious about what exactly that airflow Eighteen spat out was.

「Remnant Grace of ???. Against consciousnesses (souls) with strength lower than the law level, it can achieve an instant kill if they are caught off guard.

However, the Remnant Grace of ??? cannot be replenished; it is depleted with each use.」

As this thought surfaced in Lin Sheng’s mind, he instantly understood why Eighteen had looked at the Giant Scorpion as if it were already a corpse.

A creature with a law level consciousness... aside from himself, he estimated there wasn’t a second creature on Earth that had reached this stage, right?

「Wait, there’s more.」

Lin Sheng was startled.

He subconsciously turned his head to look at Eighteen.

「Eighteen’s consciousness strength has not reached the law level.」

Lin Sheng was even more shocked upon learning this news.

If even Eighteen’s consciousness strength hadn’t reached the ”law level,” then what other creature on Earth could possibly reach it?

Lin Sheng pondered this, but this time ”Omniscience” did not provide any information.

Clearly, his current connection with any creatures on Earth possessing law level consciousness was not deep enough.

Lin Sheng gave up on that line of thought and turned his attention back to the battlefield.

At this moment on the battlefield, the airflow Eighteen spat out had completely enveloped the Giant Scorpion.

Wrapped in the milky-white airflow, the Giant Scorpion didn’t even resist; it simply slumped on the spot, motionless.

Thud!

Eighteen landed on the Giant Scorpion’s corpse, holding its head high and mocking the loser beneath its feet with a roar.

Then Eighteen opened its mouth and inhaled, drawing the milky-white airflow along with the Giant Scorpion’s dead consciousness into its mouth.

”Qiang qiang.”

After absorbing the Giant Scorpion’s consciousness, Eighteen let out a low cry toward Lin Sheng.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng quickly flew toward Eighteen.

He arrived beside Eighteen, looked at the dead Giant Scorpion beneath them, and spat directly on its corpse.

”Pui.”

Eighteen picked up the wing that had been torn off by the Giant Scorpion and handed it to Lin Sheng.

Looking at this wing, which was several times larger than his own body, Lin Sheng was a bit confused about what Eighteen wanted to do.

「Eighteen wants me to eat the wing.」

As the information flashed in his mind, Eighteen also used body language to express its intent.

It pointed a claw at the wing, then pointed at Lin Sheng’s mouth.

The meaning was expressed very clearly.

Seeing Eighteen acting like this, Lin Sheng was deeply moved.

But Lin Sheng also found it somewhat incomprehensible.

Excluding his Evolution time, the time he and Eighteen had truly been friends was likely only a few days. Why was Eighteen being so good to him?

To give him a gift, it had even used up a life-saving trump card.

And now, it was even delivering its own body part to his mouth.

「Eighteen is still a child and lacks the care of a family.」

「Now Eighteen regards me as its family; it will do its best to provide care for me, its only family member on this planet.」

Lin Sheng understood.

Even a child who grew up without friends would likely give their heart and soul to the first friend they made.

Furthermore, in Eighteen’s eyes, Lin Sheng wasn’t just a friend, but kin.

After realizing this, Lin Sheng began to treasure his friendship with Eighteen.

Previously, he had always viewed Eighteen as a conversational partner, an ordinary friend, or even someone to be utilized.

But Lin Sheng was not a heartless person; knowing how Eighteen viewed him, he changed his perspective on Eighteen as well.

”Hou hou.”

Lin Sheng pointed at Eighteen’s wound, then at the torn-off wing.

He was thinking that if Eighteen’s wing couldn’t recover, he would help Eighteen in the future so it could grow a new one.

「Eighteen has a way.」

Seeing Lin Sheng’s concern, Eighteen’s mouth opened and closed repeatedly.

「Eighteen is happy.」

It shook its head at Lin Sheng, indicating it had a way to resolve the issue.

At this, Lin Sheng felt relieved.

Because ”Omniscience” had already informed Lin Sheng in advance.

Once Eighteen saw that Lin Sheng was at ease, it used its claws to roll its own wing into a long strip.

Then it extended a claw again, lifting Lin Sheng up to its side.

Lin Sheng obediently opened his mouth.

Although he was reluctant to eat Eighteen’s body, since Eighteen insisted, he could only accept it.

evolution points +325,469

As the wing went down, the evolution points were credited, and Lin Sheng’s body grew slightly as a result.

Although this growth was negligible compared to Lin Sheng’s current length of over seventy meters, Eighteen still noticed it.

Eighteen showed a thoughtful expression, but due to the language barrier, it didn’t ask Lin Sheng for the reason.

Lin Sheng checked his Evolution point balance.

Because of ”Stellar Energy,” Lin Sheng could earn a passive income during the day; his evolution points had now reached over 7.2 million.

The Giant Scorpion’s size was slightly larger than the Honeycomb Monster; as for the energy it contained...

「More than the Honeycomb Monster.」

Lin Sheng felt that after consuming this Giant Scorpion, his evolution points could break the 20 million mark.

He looked down at the Giant Scorpion’s corpse beneath his feet.

「The carapace is hard; it’s difficult for me to break through its defense.」

Lin Sheng looked up and pawed at Eighteen, who was about to leave.

He signaled for Eighteen to look at him.

Then Lin Sheng bit at the Giant Scorpion’s corpse, a strained expression on his face.

Eighteen realized Lin Sheng’s lack of strength.

It forcefully tore the two giant pincers and eight legs off the scorpion’s corpse; Lin Sheng couldn’t help but feel that Eighteen was using the corpse to vent its anger over having its wing torn off.

After tossing the legs aside, Eighteen tore off the scorpion’s tail and even thoughtfully divided it into a dozen segments, ensuring Lin Sheng could swallow them in one bite.

After finishing this, Eighteen signaled for Lin Sheng to move back.

Lin Sheng did as told and retreated a considerable distance.

Once Lin Sheng was far enough away, Eighteen began repeatedly slamming its body against the ”scorpion swine” beneath it.

Watching this from a distance, Lin Sheng couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air.

If one didn’t know better, they’d think Eighteen was desecrating a corpse.

Eighteen seemed to be striking very hard, but it deliberately avoided the Giant Scorpion’s head and the surrounding area.

After watching for a while, Lin Sheng noticed this as well.

「That’s where the Giant Scorpion’s essence is located; it’s full of energy, and if damaged, the energy will easily leak out.」

...

Lin Sheng stood silently in the distance, quietly watching Eighteen ravage the Giant Scorpion’s corpse for a long time.

”Ding ding.”

Feeling it was about done, Eighteen called out to Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng returned to Eighteen’s side.

Up close, the visual impact of the Giant Scorpion’s mangled corpse was still very strong.

Lin Sheng couldn’t help but be slightly shaken.

”Qiang qiang.”

Eighteen extended a part of its body, spinning it in the air like a windmill.

「This is a way of saying goodbye for Eighteen’s species.」

Lin Sheng mimicked Eighteen, using his tail to spin circles in the air.

Seeing this, Eighteen left, satisfied.

”Hou hou.”

Lin Sheng called out to Eighteen’s retreating figure a few times.

Through ”Omniscience,” he had gained an understanding of Eighteen’s language.

However, since Eighteen’s species had no written script and Lin Sheng’s body couldn’t produce the sounds Eighteen used, he couldn’t bid Eighteen farewell with his voice.

Watching Eighteen’s receding figure, Lin Sheng suddenly thought of something.

While Eighteen hadn’t gone far, he placed a mark directly on Eighteen.

Eighteen glanced back at Lin Sheng, then turned and departed.

Lin Sheng felt that the direction Eighteen was heading gave him a peculiar feeling.

「That strange Plain from before is in that direction.」

Lin Sheng felt that sooner or later, ”Omniscience” would turn him into a useless person.

...

After seeing Eighteen off, Lin Sheng looked down at the ”evolution points” beneath his feet.

The Giant Scorpion had just died, and Eighteen’s aura hadn’t yet dissipated from this area; currently, no creatures dared to come this way.

For a short while, Lin Sheng could enjoy this delicious meal in peace.
