Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

42: Chapter 42 Energy Conversion DeviceThe creature’s body was covered in stripes that emitted a spotlight-like glow, arranged so neatly that they felt meticulously designed.

The green light emanating from the stripes was dazzling, illuminating the entire subterranean space.

I need basic information on this monster.

Lin Sheng muttered to himself.

「???

The main body controlling the ”Devil Rays” and sand worms.

Length between ends: 341,265 meters.

Tentacles are retractable」

The basic information of this creature surfaced in Lin Sheng’s mind; though sparse, it was a significant discovery for him.

He hadn’t expected to find the source of the ”Devil Rays” and sand worms so easily.

From a distance, Lin Sheng cautiously observed this behemoth.

Upon closer inspection, Lin Sheng noticed that the tentacles at both ends of the creature were different.

One end was dark gray and appeared somewhat rough.

The other end was light purple; compared to the dark gray section, that tentacle was thinner and smoother.

Lin Sheng had already made a rough guess.

The dark gray tentacle should be the sand worm, and as for the other one, it was definitely the ”Devil Ray.”

To gain a clearer understanding of the creature, Lin Sheng decided to approach it, hoping that physical contact would allow ”Omniscience” to provide more information.

But before that, he needed to know how aggressive the creature was.

If it were highly aggressive, Lin Sheng planned to leave the desert immediately after his Evolution was complete.

After all, the thought of a behemoth hundreds of thousands of meters long hidden beneath his feet made his skin crawl.

「Low aggressiveness」

Lin Sheng felt relieved.

Controlling the sand worm’s body, he crawled toward the unknown creature.

Only after drawing near did Lin Sheng truly feel the sheer scale of the creature.

Lin Sheng’s 300-meter-long sand worm body was not even as long as one of the creature’s appendages.

Reaching the monster’s feet and seeing no reaction, Lin Sheng controlled the sand worm to quietly coil around one of its appendages.

I need detailed information on this creature.

Activating ”Omniscience” again, much more information appeared this time.

「A bio-Energy Conversion Device created by ???. It absorbs biological corpses and converts them into energy to supply ???」

「Highly inert; does not move easily」

「Low aggressiveness and attack power toward living things; will not actively attack distant living beings, but will attack creatures other than ??? that approach it」

After touching the creature’s body, Lin Sheng received significantly more information.

Analyzing the information, Lin Sheng gained a better understanding of it.

The previous Nuclear Fuel had been described as biological fluids, and this creature was an Energy Conversion Device. Connecting these two pieces of information, Lin Sheng roughly understood the situation.

For now, let’s call this creature the Biological Energy Factory.

The Biological Energy Factory itself had low aggressiveness and difficulty moving.

However, it could use the ”Devil Rays” and sand worms on its body to pick up biological corpses from the Ground and convert them into energy.

Lin Sheng wasn’t sure about the Biological Energy Factory’s energy conversion efficiency, but according to the law of conservation of energy, the factory needed to grow, and growth required energy. Therefore, the biological corpses it consumed couldn’t be converted 100% into energy.

「The energy conversion rate of the Biological Energy Factory is approximately 90,000,000,000%」

Lin Sheng: ?

What’s going on?

Why isn’t energy conserved?

Lin Sheng was puzzled, but ”Omniscience” quickly helped him clear his doubts.

「Inside the Biological Energy Factory, a Pattern has been written by ???: Three-Dimensional Volume Conservation」

「Three-Dimensional Volume Conservation: Can convert specific absorbed materials into designated objects of the same volume」

”System, help me translate this. I don’t quite understand the answer from ’Omniscience’.”

Lin Sheng felt that the description from ”Omniscience” this time was a bit convoluted, and he couldn’t quite grasp it for a moment.

[Ding]

[Simply put, the low-level civilization that created this energy factory wrote a Pattern for it: absorbing biological corpses can produce Nuclear Fuel of the same volume]

The system’s answer was simple and easy to understand, and Lin Sheng immediately got it.

But another doubt followed.

”System, if that civilization can bypass the conservation of energy, why didn’t they just change biological corpses to something easier to obtain, like ’air’, and then change Nuclear Fuel to a more efficient energy source?”

”Wouldn’t the energy conversion efficiency be even higher that way?”

Hearing Lin Sheng’s question, the system’s voice carried a hint of emotion.

That emotion was called ”disdain.”

[Ding.]

[I already said it’s a low-level civilization. It’s already quite impressive for a low-level civilization to achieve this. How much better do you expect them to do?]

”low-level civilization.”

Lin Sheng silently repeated those four words in his mind.

After the system said those words, he didn’t ask any more questions, nor did he ask how ”low-level” this civilization actually was.

In the system’s eyes, everything was a low-level civilization anyway.

Pulling his thoughts back, Lin Sheng began to calculate his next move.

Lin Sheng was very tempted by the Pattern regarding energy conversion in this Biological Energy Factory.

If he could devour this factory, perhaps he could obtain that talent from it.

If that happened, wouldn’t his future evolution points increase exponentially?

At this thought, as Lin Sheng’s consciousness looked at the Biological Energy Factory, his eyes were already filled with a greedy green light.

But at the thought of the factory’s massive size, Lin Sheng’s restless heart instantly cooled down.

Although the factory wasn’t aggressive toward creatures far away, ”Omniscience” had mentioned it would attack other creatures that approached it.

Even if the sand worm wouldn’t be attacked by the Biological Energy Factory, Lin Sheng was certain his true body was definitely on the factory’s hit list.

Even if the factory’s attack power wasn’t strong, given its massive size, even a light swat would be more than Lin Sheng could endure.

Even when Lin Sheng became capable of dealing with this factory, he would still have to think twice.

After all, this factory wasn’t naturally formed.

Behind the Biological Energy Factory existed what could be considered a High-Level Civilization to Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng couldn’t guarantee that if he really disposed of a factory, that High-Level Civilization wouldn’t come looking for trouble.

A civilization that could rewrite Patterns would be at least a Level 4 civilization according to the definitions of scientists in Lin Sheng’s previous life.

Lin Sheng didn’t know when he would finally have the strength to contend with such a civilization.
