God's Imitator

In the spectator room where He Xiaojun was located, many spectators were also paying attention to the game situation in this room.

Since neither ’↑The Devil’ nor ’↓The Emperor’ had chosen to block the sound inside the game, the spectators could also clearly hear their words.

Naturally, they were also very clear about ’↑The Devil’s’ choice.

He Xiaojun was also working hard to think about the strategy behind this, because other ’Sage’ players might also imitate it subsequently.

”’↑The Devil’ chose both boxes 14 and 16, but deliberately avoided box number 15. Is there some special significance?

”Shouldn’t which specific box to choose be completely random?

”Probability-wise, the success rate of the first action should be 7/22, which is about one-third. The probability of the second action is 7/15...

”No, no, no, I’d better not think about calculating expected returns and such. If I calculate wrong, it’ll instead interfere with my own strategy. Better to rely on intuition.

”Compared to the ’Number Bomb’ strategy, one advantage of this strategy is that even in the worst case scenario of ’guessing wrong both times,’ there’s still a guaranteed return of 5 wooden boxes.

”This guarantee is still very attractive to ’Thief’ players.”If calculating expected returns, the guaranteed 5 boxes should significantly increase the expected return.

”If guessing correctly only once, 7 boxes can be obtained, but this is still not as good as the 10 boxes from the first strategy.

”But since ’↑The Devil’ decided to play, it means he believes the probability of guessing the numbers both times and obtaining all 22 boxes is not low.

”Deliberately avoiding box number 15, is it out of some special consideration?

”Because ’↑The Devil’ initially chose the number 15?

”But the box numbers and the quantity of Wealth Vouchers in the boxes have absolutely no relationship, right?”

In this game, there were two sets of numbers simultaneously, both ’1 to 22.’

The first set of numbers was the box numbers. The second set of numbers was the ’quantity of 100 denomination Wealth Vouchers’ that ’↓The Emperor’ put into each wooden box. And the rules had already clearly stated that these two didn’t have any particularly clear correlation.

Since that was the case, why did ’↑The Devil,’ after setting the first number as 15, deliberately avoid the box numbered 15?

He Xiaojun thought hard but got nothing.

He couldn’t think of the perfect solution to this game, couldn’t guess ’↓The Emperor’s’ intention in designing these rules, and couldn’t even guess why ’↑The Devil’ would adopt the current strategy.

He could only give up somewhat helplessly and wait for the game results to come out, then try to deduce afterward.

...

Soon, ’↑The Devil’ opened 7 of the wooden boxes, but among them there was no case of ’having 15 vouchers of 100 denomination.’

In other words, his first action failed.

’↓The Emperor’ continued, ”The second number is 2.”

According to the game rules, the second number had to be given by the ’Sage.’ ’↑The Devil’ could still open wooden boxes 7 times to find among them the box ’with 2 vouchers of 100 denomination.’

The 7 wooden boxes opened previously had all been closed again.

But for a player like ’↑The Devil’ with relatively good memory, he still remembered which specific boxes he had opened before and how many 100 denomination Wealth Vouchers were in them.

”As expected, ’↓The Emperor’ didn’t choose from the wooden boxes that had been opened before.

”Then this wooden box should be among the remaining 15 unopened boxes.

”Looking at the pattern from the previous wooden boxes...

”I see, I understand. It’s actually a ’hiding in plain sight’ strategy...”

Thinking of this, ’↑The Devil’ proposed, ”Let’s block the sound in the room.”

’↓The Emperor’ nodded. ”Okay.”

...

The players in the spectator room were all somewhat helpless.

Very obviously, ’↑The Devil’ should have thought of some kind of strategy, but he didn’t want to share this strategy with other spectators for free.

Afterward, ’↑The Devil’ might encounter other ’Sages’ copying this strategy, and might also serve as ’Sage’ himself to use this strategy, but either way this solution could greatly increase his own advantage.

Although the spectators could see that ’↑The Devil’ opened certain specific wooden boxes, they couldn’t confirm exactly how many Wealth Vouchers were inside. They could only know the final result.

[In this game, ’Thief’ stole wealth from a total of 7 wooden boxes, totaling 3,459,500 Wealth Vouchers.]

[’Sage’ has 7,312,800 Wealth Vouchers remaining.]

[Please both parties leave the game room and wait for the next round of the game to begin.]

Judging from the results, ’↑The Devil’s’ second attempt successfully found the corresponding number, so he roughly took the Wealth Vouchers from 7 wooden boxes.

Because the Wealth Vouchers in each wooden box were around 500,000, just with some degree of reduction depending on the quantity of 100 denomination Wealth Vouchers.

But specifically how did he find it?

Did he find it by chance with a 7/15 probability? Or did he use some special strategy to increase the probability of finding it?

’↑The Devil’ seemed to have roughly figured out ’↓The Emperor’s’ strategy during the second time. So, if he played again, could ’↑The Devil’ also find the number the first time, and then win all 22 wooden boxes?

It wouldn’t be easy for other players who wanted to imitate.

Because they would need to know both what ’↓The Emperor’s’ strategy was and what ’↑The Devil’s’ strategy was, and also confirm whether the new ’Sage’ knew ’↓The Emperor’s’ strategy when they encountered a ’Sage.’

When copycats applied this set of rules, each person’s different understanding might create even more complex situations.

...

The next game began.

This time, the identity He Xiaojun played was ’Thief.’

After the preparation time ended, He Xiaojun entered the game room and saw that the player serving as ’Sage’ this time was the Upright ’↑The Moon.’

This was a player he hadn’t encountered before and hadn’t watched on screen as a spectator either.

The other party didn’t adopt the latest rules ’↓The Emperor’ had provided, ’Number Prisoners,’ but still continued using the previous ’Number Bomb’ rules.

The other party still looked somewhat stiff, but this couldn’t confirm that the other party was weak, after all, there might also be cases of deliberate disguise.

After seriously considering for a moment, He Xiaojun said, ”I’ve decided to play by your rules.

”The first number I want to guess is...

”14, ’Temperance.’”

’↑The Moon’ was clearly stunned for a moment. After a few seconds, they said, ”You... guessed correctly.”

He Xiaojun proposed, ”Block the sound?”

’↑The Moon’ immediately agreed.

[Spectators can no longer hear the sound from the current room.]

He Xiaojun asked, ”What do you think of the difficulty of this game?”

’↑The Moon’ was clearly somewhat joyful and hastily answered, ”Very simple. No matter what situation I encounter, I’ll say it’s very simple.

”Are you...”

He Xiaojun pointed at wooden box number 5, while the other party pointed at wooden box number 7.

’↑The Moon’ finally breathed a sigh of relief. ”Thank goodness, thank goodness. Finally encountered someone I recognize...”

He Xiaojun hastily reminded, ”Can’t mention names or communities.”
