God's Imitator

’↑The Lovers’ didn’t speak again, but He Xiaojun could feel that the other party was clearly angry.

Very obviously, ’↑The Lovers’ had originally believed that persuading a player like ’↓Justice’ would be a sure thing, and now the situation was beyond his control, making him feel uncontrollably furious.

”Fine, I respect your choice.

”This game, I’ll choose to play by your rules and guess the ’special number.’”

He Xiaojun was stunned for a moment, because after their earlier exchange, there was very little game time left.

However, seeing ’↑The Lovers’’ confident appearance, he obviously already had a definite number in mind.

”First number, 4.”

”5 to 22, contains it.”

”Second number, 6.”

”7 to 22, contains it.””Third number, 7.”

”8 to 22, contains it.”

”Fourth number, 15.”

”8 to 14, contains it.”

The first few numbers went very quickly, but at this point, ’↑The Lovers’ paused slightly, doing brief thinking.

They had already entered the danger zone of ’4th, 5th, 6th tries.’ If the next two numbers weren’t guessed correctly, then entering the ’7th, 8th tries’ would give ’↑The Lovers’ a very good chance of winning.

”Fifth number, 11.”

”You guessed correctly.”

He Xiaojun reached out and opened box number 11. It was exactly ’Justice.’

’↑The Lovers’ was stunned, appearing somewhat incredulous.

Very obviously, in his conception, 11 should have been a safe number.

Because most players, when guessing for the first time, would choose the ’middle bisection’ strategy, and numbers 11 and 12 were both popular numbers.

A player like ’↓Justice,’ if they didn’t have guidance from a special player, shouldn’t have the courage to set the special number as 11.

Although judging by general circumstances, as the game progressed, more and more players would no longer choose 11, according to ’↑The Lovers’’ estimate, even if ordinary players realized this point, they would still need a certain amount of time before they truly had the courage to choose 11 as the special number. At least within two or three matches, it should still be safe.

He hadn’t expected that he would misjudge ’↓Justice.’

And such a misjudgment was fatal.

He Xiaojun stood up. ”Thank you. You’ve made me certain that even if one is weak, one can only choose to control fate in one’s own hands, rather than placing hopes on others.

”In life-and-death games, outcomes depend on strategy and also on luck, but they equally depend on conviction.”

[In this game, ’Thief’ stole wealth from a total of 0 wooden boxes, totaling 0 Wealth Vouchers.]

[’Sage’ has 10,999,100 Wealth Vouchers remaining.]

[Please both parties leave the game room and wait for the next round of the game to begin.]

...

Returning to the lounge, He Xiaojun finally felt relieved. He slumped onto the sofa taking deep breaths, calming his violently beating heart.

He actually wasn’t clear what high win-rate strategies these clever players had researched, nor was he certain what kind of player he would specifically encounter in this match.

The reason he set the special number as 11 was merely from very simple thinking:

Considering from his own perspective, because currently ordinary players tended toward the middle bisection strategy at the start, 11 was the most dangerous number.

But the strong would certainly also be very clear about this point. So, if he wanted to defeat the strong in this match, then he definitely had to set the number as 11.

This reasoning was very simple, but actually doing it was another matter.

Because weak players often didn’t have such a strong mentality. Even if they knew this, they would still worry about problems like ’what if I encounter an ordinary player?’

And once they thought about encountering an ordinary player possibly directly losing 11 million Wealth Vouchers, weak players would deny their own strategy and adopt a more secure method, changing the number to something else.

What they most lacked was actually the courage to burn their bridges.

And before entering this game, He Xiaojun ultimately decided that even if he gave up 11 million Wealth Vouchers, he would still demonstrate this courage to everyone, and especially to himself.

That’s why he ultimately had such a return.

He Xiaojun’s situation in this game still couldn’t be called optimistic. After all, he had only won one match, but he had successfully established confidence.

The next game began. He Xiaojun once again served as ’Spectator.’

This was good news for him.

For a player like him, it was difficult to adapt to consecutive high-intensity matches in a short time. After the previous match, he had endured enormous mental pressure, so this interval as a spectator was perfect for relaxing.

Entering the spectator room again, He Xiaojun still casually found a seat and sat down.

He saw ’↓Hermit’ who had shown outstanding performance earlier, and ’↓Hermit’ held up a ’Great!’ sign toward him.

He Xiaojun felt this scene was somewhat absurd, but still searched through his many expression cards to find a ’Thank you’ as a response.

After waiting a while longer, no one else came to actively communicate with He Xiaojun.

This left He Xiaojun somewhat disappointed. He had originally hoped that there would also be other players from Community 14 on the ’Reversed’ camp side who could recognize him through his performance in the previous match and then actively seek him out.

But thinking about it again, this kind of thinking was somewhat unrealistic.

Weak players were embarrassing precisely at this point. Even if they occasionally had highlight moments, players from the same community would still find it difficult to confirm identities.

Moreover, the conversation with ’↑The Lovers’ also made He Xiaojun more certain of his judgment about the game situation.

This game’s pace was very fast. He Xiaojun felt he had experienced several ups and downs, but in reality they had only progressed to the 7th game.

He Xiaojun’s identities up to now had been ’Sage, Thief, Spectator, Thief, Spectator, Sage, Spectator.’

The game had to proceed for a total of 8 hours. They had just entered the 3rd hour, giving people the initial feeling that there was still relatively ample time.

But the problem was that to confirm players from the same community, it had to be completed as early as possible.

Because once they entered the latter 3 hours, they would enter the free matching phase. Although there would still be a forced matching option, the players who could be matched would be greatly reduced.

Those Core Community players should have already completed identity confirmation, so in the subsequent free matching phase, they could freely match, transfer Wealth Vouchers, and adjust the Wealth Voucher differences between each other.

Everything would get on the fast track.

Core Community players still willing to seek opponents through matching would definitely all be very strong players, meaning they would expand their community’s total returns as much as possible through ’seal clubbing.’

And if Peripheral Communities were still searching for players from the same community at that time, they would only lose more and more miserably, falling further and further behind in wealth value.

But He Xiaojun couldn’t think of any particularly good methods for the time being. He could only make more risky attempts in the limited matches he had.

Just then, He Xiaojun suddenly noticed that new rules had appeared on a certain screen and hurriedly stood up to initiate a vote.

Soon, the vote passed.

The spectators all looked toward this screen. On it was a match between ’↓The Emperor’ and ’↑The Devil.’
