Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 349: Chapter 319: Commander Level

After finishing his noodles, Li Qian didn’t linger. He went straight back to his dorm apartment in Xianya Garden.

Back in his dorm, without a moment’s rest, he immediately sat cross-legged on his bed and began to meditate.

Time slowly trickled by. Before long, a layer of fine sweat beads appeared on Li Qian’s forehead.

Back when he broke through from Ordinary Level to Elite Level, he had barely felt a thing. Everything was natural, a matter of course.

This time, however, the situation was completely different. While in Meditation, Li Qian could already feel a hint of pressure.

This also proved that, setting aside the factor of his Golden Finger, his true talent wasn’t actually that high—at least not when it came to cultivation.

Finally, after an unknown amount of time, Li Qian’s eyes snapped open, and he let out a long, powerful exhale.

He glanced at the time. Six hours had passed. It was now two in the morning.

Feeling that his Spiritual Power had broken through to Tier One Commander, a complex expression appeared on Li Qian’s face.

Amid his joy, he couldn’t help but feel a faint sense of helplessness welling up from the bottom of his heart.

’Looks like I’ll have to find a more advanced Meditation Method.’ After sensing his new power for a while, he couldn’t help but mutter to himself, ’The Golden Finger isn’t omnipotent...’

Li Qian felt the limits of his own Talent.

With his current status and financial resources, if he dedicated himself to the search, he could definitely find a decent Meditation Method.

However, changing his Meditation Method was a very important matter.

He wouldn’t just have to consider the method’s own level and grade, but also how well it suited his Spiritual Power.

The Meditation Method taught uniformly in high school was moderate and balanced, with basically no side effects. Although the Meditation speed wasn’t fast, it was excellent for building a solid foundation.

After enrolling in Shazhou Beast Taming University, he had been taught another Meditation Method, but just like the one from high school, it was steady and safe, and not very fast.

The hidden feedback his Golden Finger provided after completing tasks was indeed incredible, but when it came to breaking through the bottleneck of a major realm, its effect didn’t seem to be as significant.

Of course, if he just kept accumulating power like this, he would definitely be able to break through eventually. But the efficiency would be somewhat low.

That was why Li Qian had started thinking about switching to a new Meditation Method.

Increasing his Meditation speed was one reason. More importantly, he needed to build up his reserves for future breakthroughs.

But this matter wasn’t urgent; it required long-term planning.

After the breakthrough, he felt the growth in his Spiritual Power and nodded slightly. Before long, he shifted his focus to his Beast Taming Space.

’Qizai, Xiaoliu, you really didn’t disappoint me.’ Sensing that both Pet Beasts had broken through to Tier Two Commander, he was quite delighted, even though it was within his expectations.

As he took in his own surging Spiritual Power and his two beasts’ successful breakthrough to Tier Two Commander, amidst his happiness, he also discovered something unusual.

The Golden Finger had changed again.

’The task list has another slot, just as I thought.’ A smile touched his lips; he was very satisfied with the additional task slot.

Now, he could establish three tasks at the same time.

’It seems my Golden Finger can grow, too.’ After muttering to himself, Li Qian had a strange feeling. It seemed his Golden Finger could continue to grow along with his own strength. It was very user-friendly and intelligent, which he also found rather perplexing.

The excitement lasted for about half an hour. Afterward, Li Qian worked to calm his turbulent emotions and quiet his mind.

Half an hour later, he was sound asleep.

The next day, Li Qian went about his business as usual, reading and attending classes. It seemed no different from any other day.

’Let’s begin.’ But when classes ended, his unconsciously quickened pace betrayed his true feelings. He arrived at Lab 108, immediately released the Three-tailed Cat, and began the test.

”Snake-Eyed Tree Fruit.”

He took out a turquoise fruit, about the size of a fist and resembling a snake’s eye, and offered it to the Three-tailed Cat.

Seeing this, the Three-tailed Cat, already mentally prepared, immediately took the Snake-Eyed Tree Fruit and swallowed it.

The next moment, the familiar Light of Evolution erupted from its body. Unlike Qizai’s and Xiaoliu’s evolutions, this light was noticeably dimmer.

’As expected, its eyes are turquoise.’ Fifteen minutes later, the evolution was complete. The Three-tailed Cat had successfully evolved into a Four-tailed Cat. Li Qian immediately inspected it and, sure enough, discovered something unusual.

The Four-tailed Cat that evolved by consuming the Starfish had sky-blue eyes, while the one that evolved by consuming the Snake-Eyed Tree Fruit had turquoise eyes.

This was the only difference between the two. Seeing this, Li Qian couldn’t help but mutter again, ’This step will probably be the death of many Breeders.’

After muttering to himself, he immediately communicated with his Golden Finger and unhesitatingly established a new task.

[Establish Task 2: Research the subsequent Evolutionary Form of the Four-tailed Cat.]

[Current Task Progress: 40%!]

He quickly established the task. Now that he had three task slots, even if this task couldn’t be completed in a short amount of time, he still had other slots to spare.

’40%? This research probably won’t be completed so quickly...’ Li Qian thought, looking at the successfully evolved Four-tailed Cat. ’But it’s not a big deal. I’ve left a task slot open, just in case.’

And just like that, the evolution was completed without any drama.

Li Qian recalled the Four-tailed Cat into its Beast Taming Ball and left Lab 108.

The lab was quite spacious, and he liked the layout of its interior, but he probably wouldn’t be coming back here for a while.

So, he made a call directly to Dean Fei and Teacher Wu to explain his situation.

Dean Fei was stunned for a moment after hearing the news.

He clearly hadn’t expected Li Qian to be able to complete this research in such a short time.

After all, this research was not only a very hot topic at the moment but also quite difficult. Completing it was no easy feat.

”Since you’ve already completed the research, it seems you truly are a genius, Student Li Qian!” After his initial shock, Dean Fei quickly recovered and gave his praise without reservation.

At the same time, he silently added a thought.

’It seems that completing the evolution research for the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon and the Frostfire Salamander wasn’t just a stroke of luck after all.’

On the phone, it was clear that Dean Fei’s voice was quite delighted after hearing what Li Qian had to say.

His excitement was palpable.

Even though the university had already completed this research and obtained the results, having another student who had mastered it was definitely of great benefit to the school.

His attitude had shifted from skepticism to approval in just over a week.

As Li Qian spoke with Dean Fei on the phone, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion.

He still remembered the faint hint of disappointment in Dean Fei’s tone back then.

Dean Fei remembered that moment as well, and in a rare display, the old man’s face flushed red.

He really hadn’t expected to be proven wrong so quickly.

But to be honest, he wasn’t annoyed by being proven wrong like this at all. In fact, he wished it would happen a few more times.
